After getting my first 'phoon lit up by the fine folks at Venom Corporation (talk about getting caught off guard in 0.0), I'm looking for a solid PvP setup for a 'phoon. Weapons, armor, shields, etc. I usually armor-tank when NPC rat hunting. But if there are some better setups, hook a Brutor up.
Thanks in advance!

PVP
Typhoon - 12500 grid + 25% = 2500 + 625 + 12500 = 15625
Hi slots :
4x 425mm (1250x4 grid) 4x Siege missiles launcher(torps)(4x1750 grid) Medium slots :
1xMWD(1250 grid), 1x cap recharger, 1x web, 1x scrambler
Low slots :
1x Large armor repairer(2000 grid) 1x medium armor repairer tech II (175 grid) Kinetic armor hardener Thermal armor hardener Explosive armor hardener 2x Cap relay
Requires...lv 5 eng and decent electronics :o...Also need to have guts, you jsut gotta sit on top of the dude and pulverise him :)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Then another viable setup for pvp :
HI : 4x Cruise Launcher with cruises(4x900 grid) 4x heavy nosferatu(4x 2000 grid)
Med : MWD (1250 grid) distruptor 2x rechargers
Low : 1x large armor repairer (2000 grid) 3x medium tech II (3x 175 grid) 3x hardener (you know which)
MWD to scramble range, turn on nosfs and shoot away. He shouldnt get through your tank. Unless its some uber damage setup, tell, then your ****** :)
---------------------------------------------------------
Or a longer range setup....
Hi : 4x1200mm (4x 2750) 4x Cruise missile launcher (4x 900)
Medium : Large shield booster tech II EM hardener Thermal hardener SHield amplifier/Distruptor/Webber/Sensor booster /// Your long range and probably wont need distruptor. Web maybe if your afraid of frigs. Sensor booster for quick locks if your ganking cruisers or so. Amplifier if your insecure about your safety :P
Low : 3x Cap relay 2x Gyrostabiliser II 2x Ballistic Control
Warp in at long range and start pummeling. Its more off a support fire setup more then anything, hard to solo in this. But it should do good in NPC hunting if you put that web on for the intys.
Thats about it for the moment... Hope you find it usefull. ( put the grid in brackets so i wouldnt **** up anything, i havent flown a typhoon in ages, so i put these setups out of my head)

Old School Boys i can tell by the last post with a 2 x MWD setup can't do that any more so try this
High
4 x 1400mm Artillary 4 x Cruise Launchers
Mids
2 x Sensor booster 1 x Tracking Comp 1 x Cap Recharger
Lows
2 x Sig Amps 2 x Tracking Enhancers 1 x GyroStab II 2 x RCU's
She is a sniper targeting at 155km and firing at 141km optimal range is 101 course my LRT skill isn't max gentleman.

here is what I use now.
1200mm x4 (phased plasma) Cruise Launcher x4 (thermal ones) ================================= 100 AB tech2. Tracking Computer tech2 Good named Webber Cap Recharger ================================= 4 nanostruct 2 gyro tech 2 1 PDU ================================= 10 medium drones.
turrets hit hard from 45-60km (100-200 damage per shot) with mediocre skills (battleship, large proj level 3)
10 Drones and cruises take care of any frigates and intercepters.
Maintainable speed is over 750m/s and thats with AB so its usefull for Deadspace.
Tank is weak, but at this range, nobody realy hits me hard enough to need a tank. Level 3 missions made easy.

Or you can go nuts and make a BS that some people wonder if its an oversized frig:
4x 425mm autos, 4x Cruise/Nos 1x 100mn AB2/MWD, 1 Web, 2 Cap Rechargers 1x Large Accom, 6 Nanos

lol, yeah, in my setup (5 nanos), if I use MWD, i can get 1.5k/s in few seconds time. Not usefull for deadspace and I am too lazy to keep switching things around so I am not doing it.

Edited by: Ohotnik on 17/05/2005 15:15:11 Edited by: Ohotnik on 16/05/2005 22:11:13 Another neat setup: ========================================== 4 800mm (EMP and Phased Plasma). 1 hwy vamp 3 heavy missle launchers ------------------------ AB (450m/s max speed enough to catch any npcs),tracking comp,2 webbers ------------------------ 2 large armor repairers gyro 4 cprs. ------------------------ full compliment of heavy drones ==================================
Up close setup. Effective range 2-20k. Key is to double web your enemy to stop him completely and drop his trans speed to 20 or so, then aproach and rip him appart. You can keep 1 large armor repairer going non stop, second can be enabled as required. I feel that when you hunt Angels its hard to control what they are going to smack you with so hardeners is too hard to predict and feel waste to use 3 slots for them.
Heavy missles realy only used for frigates and intercepters before they get close enough to my webbers. I do not bother using them close range.
With heavy drones and 800mm you will tear any thing appart in a few seconds. Just make sure to double web them first. Even small sig targets like frigates, intercepters and rogue drones die once they are nice and stationary.

Edited by: Weirda on 17/05/2005 01:43:48 Uber tank... Great if you have support (if you alone, you may just tank them till they out of ammo):
Higher: -3xDual 425, 1xDual650, 4xSiege
In the Middle: -1xAB, 3xCap Recharger II
Down Low (for the 'Brutors) -1xLarge Rep II, 1xMed Rep II, 4xHardener, 1xCPR
If have a good wing, often drop the AB for another CRII (you can run everything indefinatley then - though usually not necessary). Also, if you drop the AB - you can get a 4th Dual 650 in there...
This setup does pleasurable damage and is a tough tough shell.
Drones a Plenty...

Add 10 heavy drones and assuming equal skills my moneys on the typhoon. Hard to tank decently against 4 nossies.

can you run hardeners and large repairer non stop with 3 rechargers and 1 cpr? Another question is, how do you deal with intercepters in your setup?

1) Yes - but not if you leave the AB on all the time. You can run both reppers a damned long time if you don't have the AB on either.
2) Cruise missiles (for now) and waves of medium/heavy drones. Intys can be annoying, but they will not break the tank. Phoon make a much better ship if you have someone (anyone) flying wing... though you may change one gun for a large nos (and have to downgrade some of the dual 650s to dual 425s). Also, if you swap the ab for a target painter, any inty mwding in range is dead meat (though Weirda hope that they change the way that the sig penalty is applied - since that is not fair). -- Thread Killer

Test runs right now
High: 3x duals 650mm, 3x cruise missile launchers, 2x nosfs;
Medium: MWD, WEB, disruptor, cap recharger;
Low: L & M armor rep., 3 hardners, adp. nano, CPR. Dronebay: heavies & mediuns.
It's working nicely.

ok, changed my layout a bit, works even better now:
4 800mm 2 hvy NOSes 2 Heavy Missle Launchers (both with defenders and some heavy missles in cargo) ------------------------ AB tech2, Cap Recharger tech2, 2 webbers ------------------------ Large tech2 AR, Med tech2 AR, 2 gyros tech2, 3 CPR.
Even less missles, but focused on guns. I am thinking about replacing one more cpr with another gyro but afraid that will run my capacitor. Right now capacitor stays around 50% mark for most of the fight as long I am not turning on medium reparer or AB at the same time with my main repairer.

Its simple and it work. Medium Range, so its best to fight at 60km at that range the tank holds to almost anything long enough.

4 cruise + 4 1200mm on a phoon is awful, awful DPS.
It may work for ganking small ships in 0.4 or somesuch, but for fighting in PvP, or doing tough PvE, it's a very poor setup.
Plus, your tank will last no time at all. Phoon has awful base shields and cap. You're wasting your dronebay at that range.
All in all, that setup is not playing to any of the few strengths phoon has. But it obviously works for whatever it is you do (ganking indies and newbies im guessing) so, cool!

If and only if you know you will be fighting BS at close range go with this setup. The only ships that stand a chance against it are EW and dual cap boosting ships.
4 x Siege, 1 Heavy Neut, 3 x Heavy Nos
Lif Fueled Booster, mix of web scrams and target painters

You keep the M sized running auto and boost if needed manually with the L one. Maybe?
