WHAT THEY DO. They Blow up your ship and Steal what is left of your wrecked ship's content's to sell or use.
WHY I CARE I Have lost over 450 mil in one gank. and this has happened to my corp three times.
HOW THEY DO IT They all have hualer's, scanners, and an aggressor. aggressor is the only one that get's concord.
The most advanced gankers use six men. three on one side of the gate and three on the other. One scan's your cargo, one attack's you and blows you up usally a BC attacking a badger mark II(the attacker always gets concored), and one set's in a ship to steal your wrecks loot as you watch from your pod. and if they missed you the'll get you on the othere side.
The other way i've seen it done is with a whole bunch of day one alts. they follow you and hit self destruct on there ships. when they blow up they damage your ship. seen a freighter go down this way. then at the end of the day the delete the alt's account and start fresh with a new alt tommmorow. so they don't have to worry about hurting standings.
WHO THEY TARGET. People with a lot of cargo and high value item's. Mainly Transport Ship's, Industrials ships, And Frieghters. usaylly but not always one's on auto pilot.
HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF Use cargo containers they can't see what you have inside them, make a courier contract(doen't work if you need the items now or are trying to play the market) Don't use auto pilot in high sec when moving stuff. you are no longer safe on auto pilot in high sec.
WHAT CCP DOSE WHEN PETITIONED Thats part of the game nobody said high sec. was safe.
MY ???'s FOR CCP WHY do we have high sec? WHY dose auto pilot dump you 15k from a gate? WHY do we have auto pilot? WHY can anyone loot your actual wreck, not a NPC wreck?
WHAT CCP SHOULD DO IDEA 1: make it illeagal to scan ships so that they get concord. i can't jam him in high sec so why can he scan me?
IDEA 2: Is limit who can take from your wreck in high sec. The only person's that should be able to take from your wreck is you and the person who killed you. what this dose is makes the person have to go back to your wreck after they get concorded. So it give's you the chance to get there first and get back your loot and be waiting there for some revenge... Also those day on sucide ganking alts won't have a high enough security status to go back and pick up your stuff.
IDEA 3: If some one steals from your ship werck in high security and not an NPC wreck, your actual wreck. If they didn't kill you they sould have a higher penalty put on them then just a 15min kill right. reason they take your loot and set in station for 15 min till they can do it agian to someone else. THATS A CROOK oF ****! they need to get concord and blown up and then they can go back to there wreck and take the stuff leagally from there own wreck.
BOTH OF THESE IDEAS SHOULD STOP OR PREVENT SUCIDE GANKING
IF YOU KNOW ANY CCP PLEASE FOWARD THIS TO THEM!!! AND IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO COMMENT OF IMPROVE THIS FEEL FREE

In order- To provide a safer environment where you can easily avoid being killed.
- To make it worth your while to fly manually.
- So you don't have to fly manually if you don't want to.
- Ehm… Anyone can loot both player and NPC wrecks.
Quote: IDEA 1: make it illeagal to scan ships so that they get concord. i can't jam him in high sec so why can he scan me?
Because scanning isn't an offensive act — jamming someone is.
Quote: IDEA 2: Is limit who can take from your wreck in high sec.
So you want to reduce the risk for the gankers? Why? Right now, getting "their" loot stolen from under their nose is a major hazard that can completely nuke their profitability, and you want to remove that?!
Quote: IDEA 3: If some one steals from your ship werck in high security and not an NPC wreck, your actual wreck. If they didn't kill you they sould have a higher penalty put on them then just a 15min kill right.
Your reasons make no sense, mainly because you seem to think that there's any difference between player and NPC wrecks. Both work the same way (except with different owners).
Quote: BOTH OF THESE IDEAS SHOULD STOP OR PREVENT SUCIDE GANKING
Which is why they will never happen. Suicide ganking is part of the game and will never be stopped or removed. It can already be prevented by you through the magic act of not being stupid. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

You know the saying, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
T2 haulers exist for a reason. Use a tanked deep space transport for hauling big valuable stuff and a blockade runner for hauling little valuable stuff. All you have to do is make it not worth their time and ships and you won't get suicided.
I've moved billions through lowsec in transports (mostly a blockade runner) and never gotten caught. You need to stop expecting NPCs to cover your ass and you'll do a lot better.
Quote: The other way i've seen it done is with a whole bunch of day one alts. they follow you and hit self destruct on there ships. when they blow up they damage your ship. seen a freighter go down this way. then at the end of the day the delete the alt's account and start fresh with a new alt tommmorow. so they don't have to worry about hurting standings.
Also, this shows you're either completely clueless, or just a troll. Not sure which. Don't really care.

Ah, so that's the problem.
Solution: learn from your mistake. High-sec isn't safe. Autopilot isn't safe. T2 is safe (kind of), but only if you're at the controls. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

In all seriousness, High-security space is never safe, this is working as intended, next time you'll have to take better care of hauling precious cargo. If you ask me, it is too easy to be secure when hauling.
Also, your ideas are god awful and this is not new in any way.

Split a stack of, say, 1000 trit into single units and put that into your cargo hold so it takes the gankers some time to search through your cargo hold.

Suiciding in highsec is not a problem. You are a problem. Self destruct does not destroy other ships. You have no idea how this game works.

NOWHERE can you be completely safe. It's by design, and we love it. If anything, it's too DIFFICULT to gank somebody with some half-decent skills who has a clue about what he's doing.
Quote: WHO THEY TARGET. People with a lot of cargo and high value item's. Mainly Transport Ship's, Industrials ships, And Frieghters. usaylly but not always one's on auto pilot.
So, carry LESS value's worth of cargo, tank your ship better, and then you shouldn't be a target.
Quote: MY ???'s FOR CCP WHY do we have high sec?
So you won't lose ANY ship to the first wannabe ganker with a battlecruiser.
Quote: WHAT CCP SHOULD DO [...] THESE IDEAS SHOULD STOP OR PREVENT SUCIDE GANKING
CCP should do absolutely nothing. Suicide-ganking is a DESIRBLE feature of the game. If anything, they should make it EASIER to gank people in highsec : the difficulty has been increasing steadily in the past years, up to the point where you need quite large amounts of ships to gank somebody in 0.5 You used to be able to gank a freighter in a 0.5 with a handful of battleships, now you're looking at least at 30, preferably more to pull it off.

I've learned over time that EVE is not "safe"!
Lesson 1:
I used to jet can mine, can thieves will ove in and take some of your ore. Solution....accept the small loss, record the thieve's name, and report him to corporation / allinace for negative standing. If spotted in Low Sec, he is fair game!
Lesson 2:
Never place a bounty on a thief, pirate, whomever you don't like. They will just jump into a shuttle and have a corp mate pop them and collect your bounty.
Lesson 3:
Never auto pilot! Certainly not in low sec, and not wise (for the reason you mentioned) in high sec.
Jump to Zero is your friend.

You never where! The moment you undock you agree by the games mechanics to be part willingly or not of PvP. Only docked up you are safe.

lol, You're a dill-hole.
Why put this extreme effort into a whine/cry thread? You had to know that people would immediately call you a douche bag and the sorts. Learn to EVE. It's a PvP game, not "Internet Spaceships Asteroid Mining Simulator" or "Intergalactic Mission Running." It's EVE. You are not safe anywhere. Your vast misunderstanding of the game mechanics, coupled with this proposal to CCP is hilarious. I'm a trader and I don't give a flying **** about suicide gankers. I think it makes things more interesting, when I choose to haul my own stuff, and I see a bunch of yellows sitting on a gate not moving. Keeps things from getting too boring.
Everyone needs to embrace this, and everything else that carebears whine about, as part of the game. Never gonna change. (at least I hope not)

Ok, Except that self destruct does absolutely no damage to surrounding ships.

Again, Wrong, The only difference when scanning someone carrying his stuff inside a cargo container is that the container shows up as an additional item, It still lists the stuff inside the container as well.

Originally by: IRISH RIAN WHAT CCP DOSE WHEN PETITIONED Thats part of the game nobody said high sec. was safe.
Exactly, High sec is SafER, not safe.
Originally by: IRISH RIAN MY ???'s FOR CCP WHY do we have high sec? WHY dose auto pilot dump you 15k from a gate? WHY do we have auto pilot? WHY can anyone loot your actual wreck, not a NPC wreck?
1: to provide a somewhat safer place to play than low/null sec. 2: to give you a reason not to use AP all the time. 3: to give you a way to move from place to place without having to stare at the monitor for 30 jumps. 4: because the game is built around the idea of any profession (including stealing from wrecks of player ships killed during a war you're not involved in.) being allowed, Also, There's no difference between player wrecks and npc wrecks, It's perfectly possible to steal from both.
Originally by: IRISH RIAN i can't jam him in high sec so why can he scan me?
Because jamming is an offensive act, Scanning isn't.
Originally by: IRISH RIAN
IDEA 2: Is limit who can take from your wreck in high sec. The only person's that should be able to take from your wreck is you and the person who killed you. what this dose is makes the person have to go back to your wreck after they get concorded. So it give's you the chance to get there first and get back your loot and be waiting there for some revenge... Also those day on sucide ganking alts won't have a high enough security status to go back and pick up your stuff.
Again, The whole basis of the game is that anything goes as long as it's all ingame, This would violate that principle.
Also, There's no such thing as "day one suicide ganking alts", A one day old character don't have the skill points necessary to kill anything before concord and/or gate guns blow them up in high sec.
Originally by: IRISH RIAN
IDEA 3: If some one steals from your ship werck in high security and not an NPC wreck, your actual wreck. If they didn't kill you they sould have a higher penalty put on them then just a 15min kill right. reason they take your loot and set in station for 15 min till they can do it agian to someone else. THATS A CROOK oF ****! they need to get concord and blown up and then they can go back to there wreck and take the stuff leagally from there own wreck.
Doesn't even make any sense, And once again makes theft impossible and rewards laziness and stupidity.
Originally by: IRISH RIAN THESE IDEAS SHOULD STOP OR PREVENT SUCIDE GANKING
Which, As others have already pointed out is why it will never be implemented, The whole basis of the game is that you are NEVER safe, Yes, you are safER in high sec, that's great, But 100% immunity to attacks in high sec would ruin the game. |

Quote: MY ???'s FOR CCP WHY do we have high sec? WHY dose auto pilot dump you 15k from a gate? WHY do we have auto pilot? WHY can anyone loot your actual wreck, not a NPC wreck?
1. So there is an area of space that is moderately safe
2. This is really going to blow your mind, but there used to be no such thing as warp to zero. You always had to warp to stargates at 15 unless you had a specific bookmark, which were called "instas." They added the warp to zero feature so they could delete all the bookmarks, which were causing severe lag.
When they did this, they decided to leave autopilot alone. They did this specifically because they wanted to reward people who were actually playing the game, and to discourage people from hitting autopilot and getting up from the computer.
3. We have autopilot so we know how to get places. Above all else autopilot is a directional tool.
4. I can't believe that question is serious. If other people couldn't "loot your wreck" this game would hardly be eve. Its one of the death penalties that eve is known for and without it you'd kill piracy and pvp all over the server. If you're bothered by this, then eve is NOT the game you should be playing.

Not sure if it's mentioned already, (REALLY can't be bothered to read the whole thread) but this is NOT true.
Quote: HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF Use cargo containers they can't see what you have inside them(may not stop them tho), make a courier contract(doen't work if you need the items now or are trying to play the market) Don't use auto pilot in high sec when moving stuff. you are no longer safe on auto pilot in high sec.
Nothing stops people from scanning your actual cargo; no containers, no courier wraps, nothing.

first of all, to all you nay sayers, i am under the impression that self destruct splash damage is real. though, unfortunately i wasn't able to test my theory. my chance to test this was ruined by my cynoing corpmate. one corpmate happened to be self destructing a insured raven cuz the insurance was about to expire and the other one, with the cyno already hot, started going off about splash damage and told the guy in the raven to either cancel or warp away, so he warped away and we weren't fleeted . so, i still need to test it out.
Now, to Mr Irish, u like whiskey? or whisky? ones made in Ireland, the others not. guess . anyway, im not sure if you know this, but you being a carbear you should know that: one, auto piloting with 59 cov ops cloaks is kinda dumb to begin with, and two, that there are different CONCORD response times in different sec space.
there's a reason he got you in a .6, because the response is slower than a 1.0-.7. it's virtually impossible to suicide gank/solo someone in 1.0 space, which is why all newbs start in 1.0 space. the concord response time is almost instant. this is also why most suicides seem to happen in .5 to .6 space. those few short extra seconds can mean the difference between hardly scratching your poorly tanked t1 hauler and blowing you to kingdom come.
just be glad none of your cloaks dropped and all he was left with was all the other almost worthless crap you had in your cargo . aaahhh it's nice when nobody wins.
game mechanics? anyone? game mechanics?
id say it's pretty safe to auto pilot through 1.0 -.8 systems. besides that, suicide gankage . though, if you wanna try again, .7 response times may be too quick for suicides, as well.

I'm yet to see a freighter ganked in high sec. Before the ganker's got his pants and socks on he'll be Concorded to oblivion anyway. There's a better chance of a club-footed myopian troglodyte winning Wimbledon to be fair.
And while we're at it, who in their right mind would use an autopilot with a freighter???? Frankly you deserve everything you get.

Here is where you are wrong, you think that CCP or the sucideganker is at fault, they are not, you are, you created the situation by overfilling your hauler. And yes you get punished for a lot of the mistakes you make, the Eve world is very harsh, but that is the way we like it and it is what sets Eve apart from the other games out there.

The griefer has it easy in this game. Unfortunatly. If the game allowed for freal freedom the carebears wouldnt have to relly on AI Concord as their only means of protection. The systems in place would be far less forgiving than the prediecatable concord. Infact id say this is what sways the game into the the criminals favour. Unfortunately, because the game should favour the citizen and the criminal should have to make more of an effort with higher risk to do their their deeds, not the other way around as it is now.

The game favors people who think, plan, and stratagize. There are plenty of extravagantly wealthy industrialists and traders who haul billions and billions around all the time.
They don't get ganked because they know how to cover their own asses.
The only people who get suicide ganked are people who are clueless and/or not paying attention. Highsec already is 100% safe to people who take some basic precautions.

Bit of an ignorant question:
How in heck did the ganker have enough time to sort through that huge list of junk to cull out those 59 Cov Ops Cloaks? I spent a good minute or two scanning that list and still didn't see it until Tippia pointed it out...
Sure there are good speed readers out there but there must be lots of haulers flying in and out of Madirmilire all the time that would need to be scanned by gankers, just wondering...

Remove insurane from concorded ships.
And another matter is that escorting hauler is in some twisted way actually more difficult in hi sec than lo sec due to concord, it is, because you cant shoot anyone before they set a trap on your hauler, and it is pretty much to late then.

As the hauler was on autopilot, it could have been scanned at leisure several jumps before the attack, and there'd still be enough time left to summon other corp members to do the actual gank
AFK doesn't just mean plenty of time to lock and shoot the target. It also leaves plenty of time to scan cargo and set up the attack.

It will not prevent being ganked, but everyone scanning your Cargo will be really ****ed off.

Hauling expensive cargo in feeble ships is safe ! It always was and will be. Move along, Nothing to see here. shhh--shush!
And yes, extra protection :
-Use secure containers, they avoid you being scanned! -Use 1 or 2 shield extenders and an ECM burst, this will prevent battlecruiser from killing you. -Don't autopilot. If you are flying on manual, nothing will be able to touch you

Thanks sherlock homes and remeber folks the safe way tho fly is not at all. your a twit kerfira
Namecalling is just a way to show you've lost the argument
If you scout ahead, and properly scan the vicinity of gates, and if you spot a number of gank-looking ships at the gates or close by, you just don't go there with your paper-thin hauler filled with precious internet spacegame belongings. Nothing could be simpler!
You can also spring their trap by flying a hauler there on autopilot with one or a few selected T2 BPC's in it. Most gankers will pop that ship just on the off-chance that they're actually BPO's....
There are so MANY ways to avoid getting ganked....

Yes, ive been ganked when on auto pilot once.
Thought to myself while at work "well i have 36 jumps trough HS and i still have lots to do here at work might aswell leave it going on autopilot"
Mistake 1 - Was flying a tech1 industrial with low HP Mistake 2 - Significant cargo value Mistake 3 - "It's HS so concord got my arse covered"
Result = ganked by suicide Thorax... Point taken and learned from my own mistakes = Never happened again.
Wanted to take advantage of Autopilot to play EVE afk. EVE is not a afk game (unless you are inside a station). In EVE you NEVER are 100% safe and thats what i like about it.
The Thorax guy was actually online flying his ship and PLAYING the game, i was not. He won i lost. Pure and simple the right way to make online games. Dont like it?! Too bad...

Most people don't realise (or don't WANT to realise) that CONCORD doesn't provide any protection at all.... CONCORD provides only punishment, protection is up to yourself!
AFK'ers deserve to loose their stuff They also deserve to cry and be ridiculed on the forum when it happens
Too many people think high-sec should be 'Hello Kitty Online'.... Good thing it isn't...

I understand there are ways to avoid being suicied , and i do not wish to make hi sec safe for afk hauler but ...
a) DO you have any other way to undock from jita 4.4 ? WTB one. b) Try spillitng f.e One billion isk tower. c) According to your logic your not ever supposed to be safe in hi sec , but here we are , not scannable cargo , it contradict it self. d) This is a way e) Afk haulers deserve to killed now and then.
The story of my alliance mate , he bought one billion tower in jita undock in industrial 3 secods he goes pop. There was no way to provide him a protection , becuase you cant shoot anyone outside of station. It would be actually easier to undock in lo-sec. I just belive it is a little unbalanced.
Btw fortuneatly tower went pop :)

I don't want Malc to get any more money — he'll just spend it blowing me up without even noticing, so…- 30s undocking invulnerability + instawarp bookmarks should solve your problem… Or just don't use Jita because it's such an obvious place to find targets.
- Not all solutions work for all problems, but hey — it would be less of a loss than if you were to transport, say, 5 towers, so the suggestion is still good. Also, ganking for a single high-priced item is a risky business — you're just as likely to blow it up as not, as you yourself noted, so it's more likely do be done to hurt you than to actually make a profit. For the same reason…
- …just because they can't scan your cargo doesn't mean you're safe. They might figure that, since you're empty, you're probably hiding something and it's worth engaging in some economic warfare by not just inflicting a loss of a fairly pricy ship, but also of something that's so valuable it's worth hiding. So just because it's not profitable (as such) to gank you doesn't mean you won't be ganked — you're not safe, you're just a less likely target.
- Actually, Orcas tank far better than freighters (on top of providing unscannable/unlootable storage), but they carry less cargo so it's a balancing act.
- Yup. The fact that it doesn't happen that often is a bit worrying to me, though.

If by "in industrial" you mean in a T1 hauler then that's your first mistake. NEVER bring a T1 hauler to Jita, they're deathtraps. Your second mistake is in the statement, "you can't shoot anyone outside the station." That's not factually incorrect, but safe hauling isn't a problem to be solved by guns in the first place; what you need for that job is a massive amount of paranoia.
Some tips for big, nervous hauls like that:
- Don't buy in Jita if at all possible - Don't buy and haul the same day, buy in advance - Don't buy with the character who will haul, buy with an alt and contract the item to the transporter - Courier contracts are awesome: you either get your stuff delivered or you keep the collateral, some other guy takes the risk - Use corpmates or scout alts when undocking for both intel and a 150km instawarp - Don't use a T1 hauler dammit!
For a faction tower I'd probably be inclined to use an Orca or a freighter at least for getting it out of Jita. It's possible in a blockade runner, but you can't cloak at the undock and cargo expanders kind of kill the other advantage (fast align).
I've got problems with LOL HULK GANK campaigns, but for- profit hauler ganks in high sec are IMO reasonably well balanced currently and are furthermore good game design that ought not be done away with.
And yes, Tippia, the Orca is a big bag of awesome.

Don't buy it in jita? Buy a blueprint and building materials and split it that way? Make a courier contract with a high enough collateral to cover the possible loss and let someone else take the risk? Scam people with a promise of telling them a 100% safe way to haul in return for isk? |

Yeah guys you are right i forgot about insta undocking. ( leaving in wormholes most of the time , obviously no stations around)
But still i belive that insurance from condorded ships should be taken off or at least nerfed , and leave the rest things as they are . That would bring some risk to suicide gankers. Because now i fail to see any risk vs reward situation , if i am wrong please enlighten me.

Oh all right I'll tell you, it's not really that big a secret anyway.
You need an alt or a friend. Have the alt/friend gang you and wait a couple hundred km off 4-4, aligned at speed to that station that's basically right in front of the undock (Have alt/friend make a bookmark if you want to be all paranoid and careful, or, like me, just like having lots of bookmarks).
So yeah, undock your hauler or whatever. The instant alt/friend sees your little purple tag, he gangwarps you. As you're aligned and already doing greater than 75% max speed, you'll be instawarped before you're lockable. Then as soon as you're out of warp, warp again to whichever. Alt/friend should prolly scout the outgate, but really you're safe by now in my experience.
Of course, I realise that this method takes a little teamwork, knowledge of the game and 3 minutes of effort, so it's of purely academic interest when talking about suicide ganking, because that by definition happens to careless, ignorant lazy people.
But send me the ISK anyway!
EDIT: PS: We've pretty much stopped shooting IRC now so dont worry about Tippia. I promise to use the ISK for good.
