Heres the situation.
It's just gone 17:15 where I live (Tiscali primetime so my copnnection is deffo throttled), I've just got in from work, and I can't connect to TQ. at 22:30 last night (Sunday) just before I went to bed I also couldn't connect to TQ.
I assume TQ is running cos when it's not the forums become awash with nerd rage, and I know it's not my firewall settings because I disabled it to check.
Are any other Tiscali "Customers" experiencing this issue or has something just gone horribly wrong with my Connection/Eve Install/Computer?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Ring them up saying you will not tolerate this and want to change ISPs. See them sprint to fix the issue.
Or simply skip the annoying stuff and cancel and switch to BT, Orange or Virgin. ------------------------------------- Read my bio ingame for tips on how to live and not be called nasty names by me. |

I had a disco, a failed character selection and some long lag both in-game and on the web page just a few minutes ago. Other pages worked fine, so it must have been EVE specific. I'm not with Tiscali. -------- Ideas for: Mining

Hello everyone,
This problem appears to be a network issue external to Tranquility. The Operations Team are investigating the problem now so we shall bring you up to date when we know more.

Damn those networks.
At least I know Tiscali haven't just decided that playing Eve on primetime contravenes their "Fair use" (yeah right) policy.

Tiscali has a long standing history of being brain amputated mouthbreathing [long list of insults]. I mean..when i started playing, tiscali was ****ing off eve players by throtteling, partly a reason why tq was set to accept connections on port 3724 additionally to standard port 26000.. ----------------------------------------------

Tiscali is now owned by TalkTalk who also own Pipex, and AOLuk. Even though I am not having issues personally, I generally advise switching ISP as soon as possible. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Hey guys,
As Navigator stated - we are looking at this at present and our network team is seeing if there is anything we can do. At first glance it looks like there is something funky going on in the internet backbone in London. The traffic counters over at London Internet Exchange are showing a fairly substantial drop in traffic at the moment, which would indicate some fairly big issues with the internet in general for those in the UK (which includes the EVE Server, Tranquility).

I strongly recommend against Virgin.
edit: reasons.
They have a terrible throttling scheme whereby if you download 2GB before 10pm, they throttle you down to 1MB/s until midnight.
Latency occasionally becomes inexplicably high. This happens roughly once a week, and to ping google I get a result of over 180. So forget eve, streaming video, or basically using the internet.
There's the ****storm where they are colluding with Universal studios to call all their customers music pirates and file sharers.
Customer support for broadband is a 09 premium rate number, and I only have a mobile phone. When you get through to them you will often find that you know more than them. Very scripted and frustrating. "Have you turned your computer off and on again? YES!!! Just f**ing reset my whatever"

bt, tiscali and pipex are really bad. on virgin at the moment and totally agree with previous poster. the evenings and weekends can get unplayable due to throttleing.

Nice alternative is O2 broadband for the UK with no caps whatsoever, works like a charm :)
Also you get a discount if you have a mobile phone with them even if its pay&go :P

Does it say on the EVE client. (Checking Status) its next to your login before you play eve. Eventually it will say Tranquillity and below that it tells you the Status is unknown. Then it takes a few hours before you can go back online. (Also with Tiscali )

I am a UK Tiscali customer, and guess what - kicked again! I have sent repeated emails to their support and I am still waiting for something other than the automated response emails. They have ever so friendly support call centre staff who just repeat "Tiscali does not have a policy of blocking any ports at all Mr B*****" (yeah, cheers for that, I heard and understood the first time). When I finally got through to a Supervisor, he spent half an hour as a pure gopher between myself and their 2nd line IT. I have given them the address of the node that is losing packets quicker than banks lose money. I would really appreciate it if someone from CCP (CCP Explorer?) could respond to this with a bit of feedback, especially after http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1044980 that thread. Appologies CCP, but the Vodaphone problem may be fixed - the Tiscali one still isn't. any suggestions? (other than ditch them as I am 2 months away from location change and contract end)

I have been having similar issues glad i am not on my own here is a snipet from the tiscali forums:-
I hope some of the crap i have had to listen to from there IT department saves someone else the misery and depression of having to listen them :)
EVE Online Socket blocking
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi ive been playing eve for a little while now and ive started to come across some problems. when i run the game client it comes up with checking status and then when it finds the server "tranquility" the status is "unknown". i initially searched all the forums i could find on this problem and alot of the quick fixes were to reinstall the client, then to clear the cache etc, well i tried everything bar reinstalling my windows (which wasnt going to happen) then yesterday i was speaking to a friend of mine who has a friend in the gaming sector. well i was shocked with what i had found out. it appears that Tiscali block the port that Eve Online uses (port 26000) and the IP 87.237.38.200 at the times of 1600 (4pm) to 0000 (midnight). so after all my efforts and days scratching my head i came straight to this forum.

I'm with pipex (tiscali) and I'm now back to the situation where I can't log on during prime-time which appears to be 6pm-midnight. They did this around 18 months ago, it's been ok (not great) since - this latest pile of 5h1t3 might be due to the merger with talktalk.
Someone up there ^ recommended FAST - I'm ringing them tonight.
