Okay so the Shield hardner SFX (Sound) is just horrible. CCP, did you not test this with a good speaker system with a decent subwoofer?
Repeating sounds should be SUBTLE and not so low and loud that it drives not only you crazy but also your wife and anyone else in the house.
Yes... I can turn down my bass (but I don't have to for any other game). Yes... I can turn my sound off, but I like to play with sound. Yes... I can pull my camera out really far away and the sound stops, but frankly I like to be closer and be able to enjoy the cool lighting and effects on my ship!!!
So for the love that is all EvE, can you please tone this sound down. Or is there a way for me to modify that sound so it just does not play (or swap it with another milder sound)???

Also, yes the shield hardener sound is horrible when your perma-running ur hardeners in gangs, armor tankers dont have to put up with their sanity slowly being driven away by their hardeners.

Edit- I've had Squad mates complain about the noise of my ship when doing fleets before

I use some high quality headphones and the sounds of my invulnerability fields is just fine, one of the best module sounds actually. Throw away your speaker system and buy a new one.

It's not an issue of the "quality" of the sound assigned to the module, it's the fact that it drowns out most other noises.

Shield hardeners are loud as hell. The sound itself isn't so bad, but the volume needs to be brought into line with other sound effects.

I have to agree with OP - that sound is remarkably loud compared to anything else in the game, especially given how subtle the graphical effect is.

Your wife is ****ed because you are ignoring her and anyone else in the house. Every time you turn on your shield hardeners it's a low frequency kick to her biological clock, telling her that she could do so much better, that she should have listened to her family and married that other guy with the better paying job and nicer car.
That, or she's trying to watch one of those Next Top Model shows and you're distracting her.

Please give us the option to toggle on/off loud repeating sounds like hardeners. I actually like some of the Eve music but I can't play long without muting the whole game because of some of the loud repeating noises. |

These people with the constant "Eve has sound?" comments think they're so clever until you ask them about their sex life, when they'll reply with "Girls make noise?" and I have to explain they should try to be more enthusiastic in bed to illicit such reactions.

I also noticed that if you turn hardeners on, you lose the sounds of stuff hitting your ship and other weapons firing. Corpmates noticed this too in fleets...they knew I was running the hardeners when all of a sudden ALL weapon sounds stopped for them.
Please make it more subtle, get rid of it, or fix the buggy sound system....

There is nothing wrong with the sound, the problem is that it gets progressively louder with each cycle. I've noticed this with sensor boosters as well. CCP, fix your damn sound already!

I'm one of those few players that actually enjoys playing with sounds on but ffs even I'm getting tired of how many sound problems there are in game. Guns\missile fx cutting in and out. Shield hardener droning which is just fantastic if you have a nice subwoofer setup. Some sort of ambient background sound fx near gates that doesn't seem to turn off unless you zoom your camera all the way out and then all the way back in again. It's getting silly guys. How old is this release now? Ugh ...

And lately my Rifters have been making odd noises, too, and I'm only running a damage control.
fwiw, I loved the old sensor-booster sound and graphic.
Oh, and could you please up the explosion sounds? The torps are fine, but when ships explode, I wanna feeeeeeel it

Besides the various errors in the sound engine I have a problem with my Sensor Booster, it has a really annoying sound effect. ( and an almost equally annoying graphics effect ), this use to be better pre-apocrypha.
The armor repairer on the other hand is good, it has nice graphics and sound, and is subtle enough, one of the few improvements in sound and graphic effects in apocrypha.
Well, now that we are talking about graphics effects, why did the jump graphics got changed again? It used to feel like a catapult, now it feels like teleporting, so was that the goal?
And I still find the warp sounds and graphics too subtle compared to pre apocrypha, but I can live with that :p
