There is a reason Windows Explorer is not a mandated means to navigate its file system. That reason is because there is a time and place to use Windows Explorer. You don't want to use it for every little file move/copy. When you do want to use it, you're generally interested is transferring large numbers of files to and from different locations.
Please revert to the old system and make the new UI an addition to it....for the love all your players CCP, do it. We want breast augmentations and sluttier clothing in the NeX! |

Again, its not gonna happen, they are not going to maintain two pieces of code for one task, especially when one of them is as old and cluttered as the previous UI. CCP, WHEN AM I GOING TO GET MY CORP BACK? KINDA WANT MY STUFF BACK FROM THE HANGARS. |

Again, people don't read.
Seriously, how is it that people do not understand the most simple of concepts. I keep trying to think of ways to dumb it down but perhaps my IQ is too high to allow me to drop down that far. Let me try one more time.
Here is a very simplistic depiction of old code

Here is a very simplistic depiction of the new code

Do you see the difference? Old code is cluttered, full of bits and pieces that no longer serve any purpose and just get in the way. New code is sleeker and easier to maintain. New code is clunkier than the old code because the old code had 9 years worth of additions, but what is important is the fact that the new code is a nice clean slate to work from.
Any future changes will be much easier to implement, mostly because the coders won't have to sift through 9 years worth of changes to make sure their new piece of code doesn't break anything. And as has been stated in the Devblogs, changes are being made to streamline the new system now that it is active, in exactly the same way as the old one was back in its day.
Screaming like demented chimps for the return of the old UI is like screaming at Microsoft to bring back the day of Windows 3.1 because "it was easy to use" and completely ignoring the fact that it was out dated and utterly incapable of making use of modern hardware.
Hopefully I managed to drop my IQ low enough to clear a few things up for you all.
Maybe it is you that is not doing the reading and acting clueless to the problem being discussed. The Clue for you is that none of the posts is about the new UI code but about the UI's ease of use! No one but you is talking about the coding when they discuss the functionality of the new UI. They could trim down the code for the UI, for folks like you, all they want but if it doesn't have the ease of functionality of the original its still a downgrade!
You may not have lowered your IQ but your visual acuity has gotten pretty far down there as you focus on the code and forget all else in your defense of the UI. You don't seem the be seeing the forest of problems as you focus on the pretty code tree! |

I tried using it, and tried and shift-click tried and have come to the conclusion it's horrible.
Please CCP allow us to revert to the old system if we choose. |

not to forget.: the inventory is best opened horizontaly wide to handle the items in it but in opposite the tree has to be open vertical very high to have an overview over it ....... this will never be good for handling more than 1 window fast.

Ps: this is one of the reasons why the tabs at the top were better to handle (a corrresponding) group of containers (corphangar....) and it would be nice if shift clicks would open a seperate window as in the new system.... |

one other thing i have come to dislike with the new system, if im out mining with my alt in the orca, every time the orca docks up it erases my configuration of those tedious shift clicks and right click "open in a new window" episodes. Every time i undock the orca now i have to reconfigure everything (ore hold, cargo hold, corp hangar) including which corp hangar division i want to deposit into. Even if i only just did that an hour or so prior.
Same goes for when the orca returns on grid and i move into position with my miner, i have to open the clunky UI in large mode and reselect the division i use all over again. At the moment its far from a smarter more usefull system - no matter how advanced the underlying code may be |
