Well, Ramming is already used by several more inventive groups of PvPers as a method to prevent quick alignment for warp out (1 BS MWDs into the target to give more friendlys time to warp in and scramble).
I for one would like to see Ramming becoming more part of the game. An idea would be a high slot module that has a dmg mod like a gun, but this mod would be rather low (like 0.1 -> 1.0 at best) and instead of being multiplied by an ammo damage total, it would be multiplied by impact speed of the vessels.
Picture this, a dedicated ramming vessel fits 2 MWDs, 6 of the best rare rams: "Rolled Tungsten Spiking" (dmg mod 1.0) and Charges into another BS. Dmg is 1.0 x 1000m/s = 1000 KINETIC dmg per ram, 6000 KINETIC dmg total. The ship would then have to retreat, turn around and ram again.
Ramming in this way surely wouldnt be all that hard to implement, and would add a REALLY cool new tactic to the game!

perhaps, but it sounds to easy. just engage your mwd and click on "aproach target". from the recent debates i thought the community wanted to get rid of the "no brainer" tactics like that

Doesn't fit the whole "realism" bit in EVE. Not like anything is real in it, but perhaps a "ficticious-real" if that even makes sense.
However you can catch me on TS saying "RAM HIM!!!" "RAM HIM!!!" "RAM HIS ASS BEFORE HE GETS AWAY!!!"
been a victim of it, and definetly use it. Do I want to make it more real... probably not.
Railguns do exist though and of course so do lasers

Yeh way to simple for that much damage and if it were implemented surely it would have to do at least 1/2-3/4 of the damage back to you

Lallante, I think the present setup of ramming is perfectly fine.
While it does not do direct damage, it can be just as risky and with the same rewards. _________________________________________________

Well ramming is almost ok. I don't mind having a battleship ramming another battleship and preventing it from warping. But i do mind that a simple cargo container can prevent a ship from warping, i do mind that a tiny frigate can get a battleship stuck.
CCP really needs to introduce mass in its collision models :)
Oh and as a side node. It would be nice if coming out of warp was a bit more random. Lets say you exit warp in a random place in a sphere of 15km radius. That way when a fleet warps in somewhere you don't get stuck on each other every time. (of course this would remove instajump bookmarks so i guess it won't be added)

I do like this idea, BUT the module will need to be activated just before you ram your target, have a 5-10s 'on time' where if you ram anything at a speed over 500m/s (have this set as the lowest limit you need to ram someome to stop people rammin stations) then i think it would be a great idea.

Well last time m8 used ramming to prevent somebody going into warp they got petitioned and slapped for harasment.
It would be nice to have suicide haulers but I would like to see high skills for such to be achieved or we'd see attack of the alts and that would be just silly. Coz you know it would be carebeard out of the window.
Funny coz when I read the manual when I first started playing I was under the impression that I'd damage my ship just glancing an object in space let alone bounch of it without so much as a sheild dip. Though given the latancies and congestion issues at some stations I can see why. Imagine your new suicide hauler undocking in empire - BOOOM sorry I didn;t see you half dozen or so peons trying to all undock at once, honest. Now something like a sheild hardner type affair that did dmg if you hit people would be neat but there again thats kinda covered with smartbombs in a way. Lets fix what we do have first - bring back mines and make em do more than just tap the person on the shoulder going - hello damage wise.
Also the design of certain frigs look like there made for jousting as it is, perhaps we could have a light sabre module were it protrudes 10km from your ship a beam (maybe couple of sphere's at the ship's head end to highlight the excitment :-) you can do dmg with and let all the star-wars fans reinact there favorite movie scenes without getting annoyed by the more mature players out not called Luke Skywalker and yoda or other sad TV char names or munges of em.

my m8 used to ransom haulers in empire space by ramming them.
i tried it a couple of times and it was pretty funny bumping an enemy alliance's haulers 100 km away from gates. -------------------------------------------

Well its impossible to do really without it been unfair, as regards ramming anyway it would have to take the mass of the ship into consideration, ie a frigate with a ramming prow ramming a BS or Indie or even a cruiser would do damage to the target ship at the cost of the frigate, this ofc could be exploited, can anyone see this fleet of bestowers fitted with ramming prows killing battleships!
Next stupid idea please, as is the ramming a target to stop him warping is one of the most unrealistic aspects of the game, its up there with light missiles bouncing around Battleships.

Well, hell seeing how we have so many ships out these days, why dont they just make a Ramming ship, something that is made with 1 hard point for small weapons. (no missiles)and about the size of a Cruiser. This way is can if it can hit a Frig it will destroy it or hurt it bad, but if it hits another Cruiser it will do a medium amount of damage to its self and the other Cruiser plus stopping the ship and its self, and if it hit a BS it does low amount of Damage and stops the BS while doing massive damage to its seld, makeing it have to withdraw, but stopping the BS like its job would be, make them about the speed of a fast Cruiser I say too. just an idea
