Edited by: istasi on 28/09/2004 07:31:47 Hello.
As told before 0.5 has a concord gank squad which do their job better than any of us can do.
As far i know they allready have that system scanner cause they are able to get one when you're in a safespot.
but in my opionen the diffences between 0.4 and 0.5 is simply too big.
As lots of pirates may have found out there are lots of 0.4 systems with some random placed 0.5 in them.
I do understand that carebears would go all whining if pirats was allowed gank in 0.5, but what i want is that pirates(outlaws) have a 10mins warning to leave the system before concord takes action and if a pirat attacks another player in those 10mins concord will gank...
that way pirats would be allowed access to travel though.
but im sure that every one in here would say this is a very bad idea cause carebears wouldn't gain anything from it.
It's just an idea from me. ------------------------------ My doctor have tried to tell me serveral times that eve isn't the real world... Poor dude, and people say i need to see a doctor ? |

Of cause the concord will attack if you get flagged and you will not be able to leave the system because of the sentries if you survive the gank squad ------------------------------ My doctor have tried to tell me serveral times that eve isn't the real world... I think the point is that with all the 0.5 systems around it's difficult for ppl with -5 or lower sec status to travel in EVE, since the 0.5 systems are simply in the way and are camped by the concord ganksquad.

I think outlaws should be able to enter all systems its just not very fair or make much sense to make them stay out of many systems, I guess the only reason its there is to stop people ganking in high secure (even with uber concord it could be possible) so they should just make it so an agressive act if you are -5 will restrict you to .4 for a week.

I could not agree more. Something needs to be done about the 0.5 systems that are blocking the circumnavigation course around the empire. There needs to be a way for pirates to travel from the extreme south to the extreme north of the universe without having to go through 200 jumps. Such a trip is simply ridiculous.
Yes, we are ebil, and yes, we are bad ass, but to subject us to such grueling punishment, that's just cruel and unusual. Along the lines of concord not being evil enough to kill our pods, but will make us take our ships on such a long journey?
I hear the map will be changed once Shiva comes out. CCP, take note of this thread, and insert some 0.4 connecting systems right next to the 0.5 ones that are blocking the way currently. I am sick of paying millions of isk to get other people to move my ships for me.

Maybe the interbus system will resolve travelling through empire. Its been very quiet on the interbus front for a long time now though. Still on billboards but no info comming from ccp as to how it will work and when it will be implememted. Fingers crossed it will allow P/K'ers to travel deep into empire without having to travel in a pod.

i just reckon CONCORD shouldn't be so uber elite, they should have some way of actually arresting you, rather than just popping your ship, thy are police afterall, perhaps they just come in, lock you, and if they geet you locked down for long enough you appear in a concord jail system somewhere deep in 0.0?
would at least give criminals the ability to run through empire as fast as they can, maybe using cloaks and stuff to let them dock, and not have to worry about losing their cargo.
just a thought ==============================================
Have you ever wondered who was responsible for the "do not attempt to stop chain with hand or genitals" type notes on things? well it was me, or at le |

Oh no!!! You murder innocent people constantly and then come here to cry about consequences.
I find myself unsympathetic. Your freedom of movement issues have been well earned. There is no reason for you to cry about them because you knew what would happen to your sec status, and what that meant when you started shooting people.
If you didn't know, you learned it pretty fast and could have the opportunity to earn that sec rating back by non stop NPCing and/or missions.
That would be some actual work though, and all you are interested in is unrestricted ganking and ruining your fellow players day, week, or month.
You then have the balls to come here and whine about not being able to fly through high security space.
What a damn carebear you are. Accept the consequences, or stop doing it. It SHOULD be hard for a known murderer to move around

I LIKE to be a carebear... I'm NOT interested in fighting other people... you ARE. Deal with the consequences.
Actually since most of pirates have no qualms about podding people I think CONCORD should ddo that to -5.0 players as well... just a thought...

Last time i checked it was allowed for pirates to gank in 0.4 or below, so people that enter those systems are aware of the fact that they can and most likely will be killed unless they can defend themself. They even gets a warning before enter those systems
It was an idea, cause unlike what so ever you may think about me, i dont whine about what so ever i have deserved cause those things i knew when i desided to gank carebears.
So please stop flaming me and look at my idea instead.

the moment you enter a 0.4 system or below you can be attacked if you dont want that, be in 0.5 or above. But then again the money you can earn in there isn't as good as it is in a 0.4 or below system now is it ;)

To me, the simplest and most effective idea is to make your sec status system specific. That way if youve been pirating in a particulart system, your sec level goes down until you can't operate in that system anymore but you are still free to enter other systems. Over time if you engage in too much pirating across too many systems you will find it hard to travel. Pirates should only be known to local system level concord gank squads. Perhaps if you achieve a low sec status in in more than n systems you eventually become flagged throughout the region. But then at least you can move to another region where you are unknown.

I think negative security status should be the inverse of the systems you can go in. EXAMPLE- i have a -2 sec status, i can not go in .9 or 10 space, if i have a -9 sec status i can only go in 0.0 and 1.0

LOL!
Lets review: 1-Pirates attack carebears in 0.4- 2-Pirates block access to any decent mining system (0.0 with rare ore) 3-Pirates can, solo, ruin an expedition of 10-12 miners. 4-Pirates control more than 60% of the world map (0.4-).
And now, the "transition" from 0.4 to 0.5 Concord behavior is "too rough" for you? "unfair"? You want to be able to come in the few systems left where noobs and decent (as in "won't **** in other poeps cornflakes just out of boredom") players are imprisoned? Why? Because it's not pratical? because it extends your travel time 20-30 mins? Do you want the president's f*&?&* limo car keys while you're there?
Have you ever considered how complicated and difficult it is for a struggling 10-15 pilots corp to even achieve a modicrum of financial success in EVE? Now compare it to the typical pirate situation. You better soon realize that Pirates have it REAAALY easy in EVE. Thousands times or more so than they would have if society was implemented in a civilized way in this game.
In a more realistic setup, Pirates, upon aggressive action, would not even be allowed to use jump gates to get out of the system. Who constructed those things anyway? Pirates? I don't think so! You guys should get stranded in-system until Concord forces you to ride your pod home. And then they would arrest you, freezing that caracter until you paid a huge fine. Don't you just KILLED a fellow citizen?
In a more realistic setup, they're would be only a handful of system equipped with jumpgates that would not be crawling with police forces. Since, evidently, no legit corp could exploit the system without protection enough to justify the maintenance the thing must cost!
In a more realistic setup, Concord would pull half a dozen raid a month in that handful of systems, just to collect the bounty private corps would have put on your sorry hide.
However, reality is not much fun and that's not what players are after so I don't mind much having more than half the players being pirates in that game. It does add spice and danger. But FOR GOD'S SAKE, pirate should never ask for new advantage claiming the game is UNFAIR to them! It is already terribly unbalanced in the favor of pirates and big corps. Of course, big pirate corps have the game twice as much unbalanced in their favor ;)
my 2 cents,

Edited by: Tariq Steel on 30/09/2004 06:24:38 Yep, the big corps have made (and still making) big isk. I'm not mad at them. They have alot of bodies, established relationships, more guns and missles, etc to make and maintain their isk. But we smallish corps are just simply too small to get all the good stuff. Now we can head to 0.0 space but as my corp mates and I have expressed, the alliances and politics are so complex at times that it is intimidating (although I sure love reading about 0.0 alliances and politics in this forum). Not to mention "the law of the gun" reigns supreme in 0.0 and if you can't defend yourself, your done quick.

My idea was to make the diffent between 0.4 and 0.5 less diffent for as it is now its hell much diffent
If you can come up with an idea that would require 0.4 was turned around instead of a 0.5, please feel free to post the idea
Cause really ... a few concord frigs in 0.4 would be just a great idea and it would be more fun beating them back and yet pirates in frigs in 0.4 would not try and solo there ;)

Well .. no ... but what i do know from other reading from the forum here, it seems that the dude called 'lifewire' is offering 'free' mining in their systems against a little fee..
And for those of you that says pirates destroy the game... In my opionen its those traders which keep the price for tech II (4.5m for a small gun ?!) and still 20m for a intercepter ?! ... a more suited price would be 3-5m for one .

Although this post is slightly of the beaten track i wish to clarify something with the empire dwelling corps. so far this is what i have been told by peeople who are more experinced than my self
1# we cannot allow u into so called pirate space *alliance controlled* because u are a very high security risk how do we know u arnt a bunch of enemy alts or a bunch of so called carebears that will take up arms once established.
2# If we start letting streams of carebears into deep space the zyadrine and megacyte prices will drop the ammount of ore in the belts will deminish and we will soon be out of a living and rare ores will become much rarer.
not to mention all the valuable loot found in deep space will become alot more avalible and the price will drop.
3#if any saine alliance were to let a stream of carebears entre their space every single pirate will be running through the systyms podding everything they can see.
these are just a few of the reasons we dont allow acess to zero space. as for the ability to move to empire i belive that security status should become factional
ie u pod a galante piolit the caldari state cares little and u have a minor factional change. while the galante state treats at as an attack upon their citizens giving u a much lower rating in galante space and more likely to be podded by gankcord and galantee space piolits.
just my 2 isksks

LOL! There will never be streams of "carebears" entering 0.0 space simply because 0.0 space is... well... 0.0 SPACE! If you are an acknowledged "carebear" (oh how I hate that term but that's another issue), the risk in 0.0 is too much. I belong to an empire corp and we make occasional forays into 0.0 space to hunt in the belts. But we accept that we will be attacked on site many times (partner and I lost BS recently but we knew the risk). Some people play the game for the risk, other do not. Some people just like the comraderie. Some like destruction. To each his/her own.

Dear Istasi,
I've re-read your idea, as you recommended. I also read the latest replies in that thread. I gotta to congrats you guys for being both civilized and constructive players (for pirates anyway) :) I was expecting much more flame and very little analysis. I stand corrected.
My bad: I didn't consider your post as whiney, Istasi. I think I got pumped up by the other "suggestions" I saw in the thread. My lashing out is also directed at these ideas. Also, when I asked pirate not to mention fairness as argument to push for change, I meant "realism". Ideas posted on the thread complain about "lack of realism" on the speedy response of Concord. Since minimal realism would have killed piracy a long time ago, I think they should complain about something else, like the boring side of that one-sided fight.
Here's an idea for you: Put a sentry gun around gates per 0.1 slice of sec status. Net result: 0.0: no sentry guns 0.1: 1 gun, easily survived 0.2: 2 guns, tough for a solo, easilly overrun by 3-4 ships 0.3: 3 guns, major effort required by pirates to get through 0.4: 4 guns, Pirate don't get in there and live very long. 0.5: 4 guns + Concord on the doorstep. Even 5-10 BS won't hold on long enough to threaten a noob. Added to that, I would setup Concord raids in 0.4-0.2 systems. Something like 4-5 ships that cruise around looking for pirates to blow up. They would appear more frequently as sec goes up. The lower the status, the longer it would take them to locate you in-system.
That setup would give pirates what they want: A zone where they can nail other players and slip by unnoticed by Concord if they're lucky and skilled enough. That would give you back some amount of adrenaline-charged nervousness that miners feel whenever they have to cross the 0.5 treshold. It would also give real evil pirates some extent of warning. When 2 sentry guns shoots at you in a 0.2, you get the idea that it will be tough in a 0.5.
This would also encourage legit players to risk their skins in 0.4-0.2 more often. Let's face it. You idea of making the 0.5 less secure would only have them retreat back to 0.6 where Concord would be splaterring you again. It's not like 0.5 systems has any special roids miners just need to mine, you know! If there's a threat for the pirates in the 0.4-0.2 systems, it increase the odds for miners to get a few hours of quiet rock-sucking time. Put some zyd-bearing ore in these systems (0.2) and the adventure becomes very tempting indeed. It would be a good thing for the pirates in the long run. 0.4-0.1 systems needs something to even the odds because, right now, pirates rule unchallenged there.
my 2 cents,
Estelle.

Have any pirates done any pirating in greater than 0.5 in a cover ops ship?
Can concord find you if your cloaked?

Listen to Siddy, he is telling the truth. I remember when it took me 67 jumps to go to the place that now takes me 21 jumps. If you have only played in the highway stage of the game then you have no grounds to complain.
Since you will probably say something to the lines of "that was then and this is now, so lets not punish us" I want to add that if I want to go to a specific 0.0 system and avoid the gank squad rats that camp the entrances I have to make a 200 jump trip as well. If a Pirate gets risk free travel in Empire then I want risk free travel in non-empire, is that fair enough?
Booky Spelling corrections welcome, but don't expect me to edit my post. |

Yeah, the somewhat random .5 systems blocking off big chunks of low-sec space are annoying, and it would be nice to see that inconvienence fixed. Bad idea, would make waves of piracy troughout EvE. Thus making sure those pieces of 0.4-0.1 that r "safe" now, to be as safe as the homesystems of pirate corps. Thus destroying the balance.
The force is fragile !
Originally by: Zatuko To me, the simplest and most effective idea is to make your sec status system specific. But then at least you can move to another region where you are unknown.
just my 2 isk worth.

Allowing -sec players to fly through .5 space would not make those systems any less safe. Concord will still gank upon agression.
What would be a good compromise would be to allow -sec pirates to go through .5+ space however, as a condition of using that space all offensive modules on a ship are deactivated. This leaves a pirate in highsec with a tremendous risk, that being that they can be engaged destroyed and podded by a player with out any means to defend themselves. What ever you want to say everyone in lowsec has an equal ability to defend themselves.
Another point would be that a major reason that -sec players want to goto highsec is to buy things. They want to buy things from the people that produce in .5+. Because of the concord rediculousness -sec players must become self sustaining in low sec space, which is bad for highsec business. Pirates often go through alot of equipment. The system is choking off business opertunities.
And just think of the beautiful pirate ganking people would be able to accomplish with this. Yulai would be a pirate death trap as it would be permacamped by anti pirate forces. Hell even the most docile empire agent runner would be able to take shots at a pirate right next to a gate with no worries about losing his ship. I cant comprehend why highsec players would not want this they benefit in every way.
Pirates in highsec empire would have the riskiest traveling in the game. I think that is balanced. ______________

People with low security status should be free to travel around empire freely, where is the harm in it?
They can be freely attacked by any player (there is some nice risk balancing), and can not attack anyone with invoking a response from the instgank npc's.
NPC attacks based purely on sec status are, frankly, pointless. ______________________________________________

That is the idea I like the most out of all suggested but I'm sure some would complain it is suicide for them if it happens. 0.4 - 0.5, weapons deactivated, then you go back from 0.5 - 0.4 (remember you can't have your weapons activated in 0.5 with this) with no weapons activated. Uh oh, free pod with purchase. That's going to be the main argument against it as far as I can see. So how about an EW Sentinel or something at the gates in 0.4 - 0.5 or higher space that detect you trying to jump and automatically (with a warning notice you can turn off) deactivate your weapons as you're jumping? Then the reverse, if you're in 0.5 jumping to 0.4 the Sentinel would activate your weapons modules as you jump to prevent people using the Sentinel to turn weapons on and gank in 0.5 or try to if they're stupid enough. This would only apply to pirates though obviously.
I had an idea to suggest to but I forgot what and this idea was better... I think.... I can't remember, damn faulty implants!

I understand exactly what Istasi is saying but at same time I understand the miner/manufacturers as well, I know we all know what we are getting into by choosing the life of a buccaneer, and please understand what he is saying, you have a .4 space no gankord, only sentrys, then BAM in .5 and your insta ganked, lil to much of a step. But at the same time I understand the reason for having this coming from CCP's aspect. 0 - .4 low sec/pirate .5 - 1.0 miners/safe, it's the best way for CCP to balance the systems evenly between the two groups.
Now as to the .5 blocking alot of space, there should be .4 or lower by passes that only require a few jumps instead of 20. We maybe pirates and hated by everyone but we pay to play the game as anyone else does, and we do not like to sit there and waste hours in traveling. The game looses some quality that way (remember this is a game not life).
As to having raids and that much more fire power in the .4 or lower systems that would totally hand over the other side of balance to the miners/manufacturers. Meaning they get more space and pirates get the shaft, cant do that it would tip the scale to much to the otherside.
And to pirates being eliminated.. that would totally ruin the game. If there was no pvp in this game think of the economy, the game would have 1/5th the people on it now. All the miners and manufacturers would have so much money and then get bored cause what more can be done? More minning? How much can you build? How much can people buy when there ships are at no risk. The whole commerce would be shot, the economy would fall and the game itself would be crap (EnB). And pirates need miners manufacturers to supply ammo, missiles, mods, ships, LOOT! etc etc, so next time miner/manu complain about pirates please think about what I said and understand the fine balance of the Eve universe that CCP has designed.

Caveat: I'm still new to the game (less than 2 months).
Having read through the Exodus docs though and seeing the bit about chances of rocks repoping as rocks from lower sec systems, surely this means people can avoid 0.4- completely in the future? A gang of miners could clear a belt (or series of belts) in 0.5 to 0.7 and hoover up the low sec rare repops later right? Given 100+ rocks in a belt, clearing 2 or 3 completely would give a good payback for zero risk (other than someone else mining them first).

What a crock of bollox.
If you want to travel around, learn to control your sec. Podkilling is what really hurts a sec, and there's no financial motive in podding people - pods don't drop loot.
So you wanna be a badass, collect corpses and parade in that -9.9 sec rating? Cool, but then, face the consequences. And if you REALLY want to fix that, take a break and NPC for a week.
That's how it works, and it's fairly balanced.

There is no harm in letting pirates travel through .5s. It could even be arranged that Concord would inst-gank a -5.0 who left the range of sentry guns. That would keep the belts completely safe. Let the pirates travel through, dock, and/or get ganked by anyone as long as they are there. And yes, I have a positive sec.rating. ___________________________________________________________ All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. |

Lol your obviously not a Fantastic Killing Machine then.. It doesnt take long to get to -9.9 by just destroying ships without podkills. You could do it easily with some good blockades in a week.
