They must be desparate and running out of resources to show their hand like that. They could be using up all their remaining farming characters in an effort to try and get more resources via keylogging.

There are some phishing emails going around as well masquerading as "Come back to EVE for 5 days!" promotional emails; they may tie in with this.

Actually it is ". e x e" right now as it is acting like a regular expression where the dot means any character. If you look close p****s has 4 stars.

So, it should be "\ . e x e", right? ----

this entire idea is a joke there are more isk spammer ingame then on the forums and more people will notice it ingame unless everyones staring at the forums all day instead of playing the game so wouldn't it be better dealing with the isk spammers ingame instead of wasting your time banning noobs for 24 hours that want to post in the EVE New Citizens Q&A?

This isn't ISK spammers they're talking about dealing with. The people spamming the forums are linking to websites that can infect your computer with a keylogger and steal your account information. I think that's a pretty high priority, don't you?

Only if you're stupid enough to buy isk from them. In this case it's random links on the EVE forums and the keyloggers install themselves.
Originally by: xHP SAUCEx edit: and its not high priority its not ccp job to protect people from there own stupidity
Get real. You honestly think they shouldn't be attempting to stop the forums being spammed with links to keyloggers and trojans? Or that isk spam links in the help channel are more important than it?

It's not exactly a secret that RMT operations make heavy use of stolen-creditcards

they can already do that by using mods instead of labelling every new player a potential bot you know like other forums do

Of course its an RMT group, I didn't mean to imply it wasn't. Allow me to rephrase. "This isn't just ISK spamming they're talking about dealing with".

CCP pann,
How about people are disabled from posting until they have completed the whole beginner tutorial?
hehe, get's newer genuine players off our backs from the most basic questions, gives them reasonable play intro, stops waste of time throw away alt posts/trolls, make the spammers grind something for their effort and ability to post.

Idealy you would prevent all accounts with less than 2 million sp from hyperlinking.

That wont help if they start using hacked accounts for the spam.

If they have to use hacked accounts for the spam, there's a system of diminishing return built into it then. Because unless they catch at least one person with every single spam, they'll start running out of accounts.

If we get to the point that they can only use hacked accounts to post spam then thye spam out break will be essentially over.

New side-effect problem: They implemented a 72-hour wait on new accounts logging in to www.eveonline.com, which also stops me from getting the API key on my new account. (Plus, why would a 72-hour wait stop the spammers? So they have to plan ahead more? Only stops them for this first 72 hours.) ----- I'm a collector! Want to trade?
