Yeah CCP, what were you thinking putting things that belong in a flight combat game into our spaceship flight combat game?
Sure the smoke trails look like they're travelling through some sort of atmosphere instead of the vacuum of space, but as was mentioned, your ship behaves the same way.
Hooray for consistency!

They don't seem like they are appropriate for space combat Excuse me while I just ROLL and PITCH my ship in order to turn it instead of just firing some thrusters to YAW to my desired heading. Also excuse me while my ship reaches terminal velocity as it flies through the viscous space aether that also slows the ship down to zero after my engines stop firing. Let me tell you about 'real' space combat. 2 Ships spot each other in space, fire nuclear missiles at each other from 8AU away, the missiles cross each other and both ships die about 2 weeks after they originally fire ze missiles. As I have stated again and again, Star trek does it like EVE and we've grown to accept it as plausible in our collective nerdy hive mind. There is nothing wrong with how the ships get around in EVE.
Oh god. Get out.

Most of the destructive effect of the nuke would be lost into space the rest would just roast the hull a little. If we have the technology to fly to other planets to fight aliens then we would have shielding or metallurgy to keep the bad stuff out. A nuke hitting you would do diddly.
RAILGUNS are what you want.
Or lasers.

Technically speak, guided missiles are much more practical weapons for space combat than any sort of turret system. -.-

The only thing I don't like about the new missiles is that the new Heavies seem a bit.... meh.
The missiles and flares aren't as big as before, and they kind of make a small, ineffectual "pop" noise on impact, not the fufilling "BOOM" of the old missiles. |

I dunno if this is new or i just didnt pay much attention to it, when the missiles fire it looks awesome, except just as they launch they jerk forward a bit then go on about their business.
Also whats with the graphics for when the missile actually hits a ship? Its like as if someone just has a bag of dust and throws it at the ships hull and "POOF" dust particles everywhere... I thought missiles make splosions! |

I agree on the smoke trails, would prefer something like the spaceship engine trails myself but whatever. The new missile effects are a lot better than the old and give it enough time, I am sure CCP will reiterate on it. I'd kill kittens and puppies and bunnies I'd maim toddlers and teens and then more |

I actually like them.
I'll find the rats in groups who shoot missiles and kill them last just so I can watch them longer.
Sorry to hear you disagree. I did not like the strip miner change in the last expansion that made my strip miner look the same as all the other regular mining lasers. Since I don't mine anymore, I guess it's not that big a deal. Maybe you should try mining, they don't use missiles.

Keep the new missiles as they are, just add a corona of light like the old missiles had, right at the start of the smoke trail. A blending of old and new. I think that would make most people happy about the missiles. Here sanity, nice sanity.....*THWOOK* Got the bastard |

I don't know... I heard the whining, got out my Drake and did a mission... and liked the effects quite a bit. Especially the sound. That deep *crump* of the missiles hitting a target 55km off (I know, I know... sound doesn't carry in a vacuum... but the TIE fighter roar is still awesome) was cool. Seeing a swarm of seekers rather than a single glowing blob was also a big improvement.
Then again, I'm easily amused. I hated the plot of Avatar (Space Pocahontas), but liked the movie anyway. |

I agree that they might need to be a bit less smoky, but I still like them better than the incredibly boring old ones that came out of nowhere in the middle of the ship and looked like a single missile even with grouped launchers.
Less smoke, much brighter engine flame perhaps (disregarding the fact that neither smoke nor engine flames happen in space)? |

They're definitely an improvement on the old missiles and the concept looks gobsmackingly good, although the propulsion system smokes so much the engines must be produced by some third world engineers in the arse end of nowhere.
Less smoke and more pounding on the outside of the hull with a sledgehammer sound effects needed please. War hasn't been fought this badly since Olaf the Hairy, High Chief of all the Vikings, accidentally ordered 80,000 battle helmets with the horns on the inside. |
