Current Situation:
It is not possible to determine what the fittings are on an assembled ship unless you are in the ship. Alright that isn't completely true. You can create a contract and see everything listed by that is hardly reasonable.
Proposed Solution:
Add the capability to see ship fittings with Show Info whether you're in the ship or not.

i had been using the "contract to self" workaround so far. this sounds better.
supported. while we are add it. add damage status to the modules/ship.

Have wanted this feature SOOOO many times. Just show the fitting in the info window like when you are piloting the ship.
Showing module damage in this screen would also be a neat addition.

A way to strip the fitting of a ship without having to board it would be nice as well tbh.
And repackage doesn't count, i like my rigs.

The amount of times I've looked in my assets window and thought 'hmm, is that battleship I have in station [X] the half-fitted one, the ratting fit or the rigged fleet sniper? If only there was a way to tell remotely...'

You can also see the fittings on a ship by going to the repair tab while docked in the same station.

Icing on the cake [/yummy] would be having the ability to at least remove mods this way. Yes, repackaging can do this, but if I just want to use a weapon that I know is mounted on another ship, the session timer can be very annoying in this circumstance.

Is there any reason we should not be able to fit assembled ships as well without boarding them? Maybe even let us be able to autofit using a saved setup if all the needed modules are in our hanger? I don't know about these, but I fully support this.

Same goes for cargo expanders. If you have a mammoth with 4 cargo expanders on it, you can only fill it while piloting the ship, otherwise the cargo is too small
