Edited by: MaxxOmega on 09/08/2009 01:30:07 I have been playing 7 months now and more and more it seems like picking Caldari as my race was/is a mistake. A lot of seemingly ineffective ships to be had. Anyone else feel the same?

No, everyone loves Caldari, including CCP.
Amarr on the other hand. CCP hates Amarr. Boost Amarr.

Im Caldari as well, cross traing Amarr...but im my limited experience, a skilled pilot can make any ship cause mucho chaos.

You can re-assign your attributes and train any skill in the game. Race doesn't mean ****.

I think either amarr or gallente are the best starting races.
caldari is not good because shield tanking is so cap-heavy (Hard to stabilize if your low SP) and because missiles aren't fun nor very effective anymore. And they have no drones.
Minmatar too short range, and their ships look like crap.
Gallente is good because of drones (L1s and L2s are uber easy in imicus/vexor) and their ships are kinda nice.
Amarr is good because they have better drones than caldari/min. Also, they have lazers, so you don't have to worry about ammo (And lasers look nice).

Why's that?

That only relates to the various ships of the respective factions — it has nothing to do with your race. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Yeah it seems that I need to train on another race's ships. A lot of wasted time on Caldari ships maybe but not necessarily. The interesting thing is I actually started this game to fly a Blackbird and Scorpion because I really like the idea of Ewar. I haven't got a single kiil yet because I am content to jam people and make them feel helpless. I am quite happy to let my corp m8's get the kills... But sometimes you know...

Its always a BIG mistake going Caldari. They are weakminded and puny; we would all be better off without em..

You are just flying the wrong caldari ships
Cerbs are awesome snippers, especially for pos warfare where a target pops its head out for a couple of seconds, then returns to the shields for cover ... only to have your missiles follow it inside the pos and go boom!
Scorps, Falcons and blackbirds still vital in pvp
Drakes for the lolz
Kestrel, Caracal, Raven great t1 ships in a large enough blob that you have someone else pointing and webbing targets long enough for your missiles to arrive.
Infact, there is no race out there that CCP has made 'completely' useless, although they all have their gimps.
Minmatar - too much fall off, rarely get decent hits etc (would cite all race's issues, but my 1 year old wants to play "Pull the keys off daddy's netbook" again).

Train Amarr or Gallente for PvP.
Train Caldari for PvE
Train Minmatar to waste some time.

Yes, you've picked the most populous and common race, therefore will be taken the **** out of whenever I see your portrait.
(No, because you can train for whatever you like, as such there are no restrictions.)

Caldari ships are imo very good in PvP, just not solo PvP in most cases (though HAMDrake and Rook can be made into nice solomobiles)
Lots of really specialised ships (Cerb, Falcon), which can wreak havoc if you use them right their only real downside is when you need to fit into an RR BS gang and all you have is your Raven but other than that, I fly them almost exclusively and love them.
...Plus we're the only ones who look good. Gallente are silly, Amarr ugly and 'Matar just filthy.
