Harriet Vane	Posted - 2009.08.11 22:33:00 - [1] HiSec is safe. Yes it is . Here I am, mining away happily afking in some 0.7 ice field. Local shows 75 as normal - 85% of them mining too. Some suicide gang could easily take down at least five mackinaws any time but it simply doesn't happen. So... apart from some very talented (and entertaining) storytellers in here - where have all the pirates gone? No need to train for better tanking skills for a true miner/trader hisec carecat like me. Sigh... found me "treasure island" as an ebook edition. Suits me well: real pirates & afk mining in perfect harmony

Also: it was by russian gate gankers who weren't talkative in the slightest (there was no smack or tears).. and If I hadn't instawarped my pod away I'm almost certain I would have lost my implants too. :P I just think its little more than griefing.

And from the time my fellow care-whatnots are standing in the ice field I'd say cargo rigged and expanded mackinaws are quite common here. And Pirates are but a faint memory, some tale of times long gone by in this area (yawns and activates "hello carekitty online" while her ice harvesters slowly but constantly add to her wallet).

True, but think real hard about what other options pirates have. Low sec gate-ganking is the only method of piracy that CCP truly supports. Killing ratters? They run and hide when they see you in local. Killing mission runners? They run and hide when they see your probes. Killing people in wormhole space? They also run and hide when they see your probes. What's left? Gatecamping. Don't like it? Convince CCP do to something to make other forms of piracy more viable.
