[1] 1. Do any of you actually play the game, solo or in small corporations you meet in-game, without spawning yourselves good equipment? i.e. do you have any idea what OUR game-experience is like, without the benefit of database-manipulation tools? If so, what is your honest evaluation of the state of the game and market? 2. What is the average age of the development and engineering staff? 3. Do any of your development and engineering staff have experience in developing high-reliability high-availability systems (such as medical databases or banking software)? If not, why not? 4. What steps, if any, are taken to train GMs in consistency of judgement and actions? 5. Why is there no GM staffing or response to "stuck" petitions after 0600 GMT? Corollary: is "wait for the reboot" considered acceptable action for large numbers of stuck characters? 6. Given that there have been consistent "stuck"-style problems and market-breakage for months, why has no solution to either the causes or an automated detection-and-correction system been implemented? 7. At what point will a player's ability to defend himself from hostile fire or other aggressive acts (container-theft, container destruction, attacks upon gang-mates or fellow corporation members within the same system) in high-security space be functional (i.e. without the defending player being attacked by CONCORD)? 8. At what point will players start to be expelled for exploits or taking other actions designed to harm the game? Corollary: what steps, such as a published "Hall of Shame", will be taken so the players will believe that you are actually enforcing anything? 9. Why is it possible to fire upon an arriving ship before the jumping player has control of their ship after arrival, i.e. shooting while the target still has the black screen? 10. Will joining an NPC corporation ever have meaning, i.e. being a member of CONCORD, Sisters of Eve, etc.? If so, what in-game aspects besides simply having the corp label will be used to provide players with benefits and responsibilities associated with such membership? Thank you for your answers, if any. |

[7] well i can answer only number 8 for you. that is one of three things: a) your graphics card is weak. b) Your modem is slow. c) Some lamer has dumped a load of cargo cans right where you spawn in to lag you to hell and back and ensure your client take a fair while to load the screen, despite the fact that that the game client KNEW that was your destination, and could have cached stationary objects such as cargo cans when you set off towards that point in space, rather than right at the moment you reach the destination. |

[9] what does their dev team age have to do with anything? There were a couple of decent questions there, but the general tone is rather snobby/malcontent/whiny. Still, it shows that some people are learning. Last week this post would have been full of empty threats and insults. :) |

[17] If you all hate CCP so much, why don't you just leave? CCP has created a game that (in my opinion) is brilliant. Do you guys honestly think that they're sitting there twiddling their thumbs now? I have a question for you, those who consistently ***** about CCPs work..see if YOU have the BALLS to answer these: 1. Have, or do, any of you work in the field of Software Entertainment (Games in specific)? 2. Do you have any experience in Programming complex code (not talking HTML, or even PHP here)? 3. What is your age? 4. Have you volunteered to be a "volunteer"? Are you otherwise helping new players or others with queries in the game? 5. Do you play the game, or do you just whine about it's relatively few problems? Answer those and the stfu for a while. |

[19] I think you will get no answers. Since you put the question forth in an arrogant and in a very "I-know-better-than-you" way. You don't know better. The work behind this game is something you can't even begin to comprehend. I'm not being arrogant here. I just see it from the way to write. Next time I think you all should ask the questions in a way that the dev's will actually answer you. But I doubt they will anser when all you really wan't to do is to pick a fight. -------------------------- Zoraz Murdock - Information Officer The Collective - Human Recources Division [email protected] |

[21] It's very nice that people are responding... however, the answers I'm interested in would come from CCP. As for people questioning my background, parentage, and which barnyard animal is my favorite... I do in fact have a background in high-availability systems and networked applications performance. I know what I'm talking about, far more than almost all of you. The reason I ask about the age issue is from patterns I see in what gets fixed, what doesn't, and what the priorities are. CCP appears from the outside to be a team of extremely talented individuals who do not have the depth of experience to prioritize correctly, and who have an idealistic naivete about how to deal with some types of problems. People in their teens and early twenties will bristle at this question automatically; so be it. Complete this sentence: hire them young, while they still know ----------. People fail to recognize that the most critical parts of an online game are not the sexy glamorous parts like the ship design or the explosion graphics... it's the dull stuff behind the scenes. The network transport stuff. The server-database interface. The backup scheme. The billing system. The poor bastards in the data room who have to keep the servers running and the internet link clear of yet another denial-of-service attack from the script kiddie just kicked out of the game. Many of you have no clue whatsoever what that means, and what it takes. Fortunately, it's easy to identify who falls into that category. But this all begs the question... or, more specifically, the ten questions. Others can speculate, but the only answers I'm interested in come from CCP itself. To be honest, I'm not really expecting answers, but I'm asking them anyway. Hope springs eternal, though expectation does not. |

[23] it would not surprise me at all if they choose to ignore this post. Yes weasel your questioning was put in a very arrogant light. I will not be surprised if they simply lock this thread and laugh at you. Bashing CCP while asking relevant questions is not going to give you answers. Try a more civil approach you'd be surprised how civility works in these cases. |

[25] What a stupid post. You're basically flipping CCP the bird, pulling down your pants and mooning them with your big fat ass. The only difference is that you used a few hundred words worth of pretentious implications to say what you could have said with one finger. Doesn't make it any more mature. ___________________________________________ Space Invaders website: http://www.si-corp.net |
