[1] "If you suspect someone of exploiting and are able to provide some written/visual evidence of such activity, email [email protected] and it will be investigated. This needs to be more than hearsay and conjecture. Oh, and to reiterate: CCP and the GMs of Siminn (Iceland Telecom) do ban and have banned exploiters, yes, I've seen discussions of such, and I can't tell you (or anyone else) what occurred, because it would break my agreements with CCP. -- Mayumi Forum Moderator Polaris" Nice theory Mayumi, but last night my cruiser and pod were wasted by M3G4 corp (Tank CEO and Number One), using the "dump a buttload of containers at a jumpgate to induce lag" trick that just about everyone and their grandma acknowledges is an exploit. Tank CEO even acknowledged in an EVE-mail to me that he did use an exploit. I filed a petition, because while losing my ship fair and square I could handle, losing it to people obviously exploiting artificially induced lag is total BS. Guess what? The response to my petition was "gee sorry but they arent really exploiting a bug, they are exploiting game mechanics and we cant do anything about it". The weird thing is that the same thing happened to someone in my corp the other day, and just this morning he got his character rolled back to before he died in response to his petition. Now thats consistency for you. If CCP cant/wont enforce policies against using exploits (and yes, artificially creating lag to give yourself an advantage of someone IS an exploit), then their discipline policy is a joke, and the griefers will continue to treat it as a joke. Its sad really. I waited over a year for this game to come out, and as a general rule Ive liked it a lot, but losing 3 ships in the past week to bugs or exploits has pretty much taken the fun out of the game for me. If I could at least get some consistent answers from CCP, and get someone to acknowledge that yes they are aware of the problem and are going to do something about it (eg: ban the griefing bastards) then I could live with that, and Id spend my next week of game time mining (ugh) to replace the cruiser again. Right now though, im loathe to do that because I know that id likely just get blown up again by another griefer using the same trick 10 minutes later, and be back where I started. |
