picture this, station module that is similar to medical center (or built in to medical center) something where you can feed in a gtc, and you'd get 10days worth sp. youd have to pause skill training. and if you got a skill that finishes to for example lvl4 and that took only 8days, then next skill you start training will first get knocked off the 2days worth of sp and then normal train after that.. and arguments against this that is simply "then the rich noobs would get good skills without waiting.." is not very valid in my opinion since they could just convert $$$ to gtc then sell em and buy a new char from the forums.
this would increase the amount of gtc's used. and only give 1/3 of the sp. i haven't really decided whether i love this idea or not. but i do think it would be interesting... then again this would nock the game 1point down the fun scale tho. maybe only 5days would be better?
what is your opinion about this? and i would appreciate your pros and cons on this idea.
pros: well for ccp theres a major pro, bigger usage of gtc's in creation of a hauler/mini profession alt. well sp boost ofc?
cons: sp boost? gtc price could possible go upp stations without this center/medical center, in there existing gtc would become useless for this. unless you got a better idea to resolve this.

your an idiot. the reason eve is great is because your ship/skills/items take real time, therefor they are worth something. and now you can buy whatever via plex. so the ability to buy sp would ruin what makes this game great for me.

I lol'd.
But yeah. Not gonna happen. Someone else paying for your subscription is one thing, bypassing SP training limitations is something else entirely. ____________________ CCP: Catering to the cowards of a cold, harsh universe since November, 2006. |

i didn't read the whole thing BUT...
one of the reasons i like eve over any other MMO is that someone who has endless computer time can't catch up, or in this case endless allowance from parents or w/e
anyone who has played a "kill for xp" game knows it sucks when you **** off the fat kid and log in 2 days later to find him 20 levels above you, AO was harsh for this but would level off for catch up around level 200, and WoW is a joke, and don't flame with crap about "my gear my gear makes me better" cause Faction and story line items can do the same, spend your isk on that.
... ok i read it all and i won't change a thing in my post
temparary training speed boost would be cool, but if EVE sticks to a 10 year plan (50 years i hope, i want to get grand kids on here) don't really need anything more then +5 implants and learning skills

if people want to advance in this game, then they need to FOCUS their skill training, their learning skills, their implants to the goal they have in mind.
Someone can become a good pvp player in a few months of focused training. They can be GOOD at PVP by actually pvping for a few months.
If someone with a lot of isk wants to get ahead, they can buy some GTC's and sell them in game and buy some REALLY expensive officer mods and some REALLY expensive implants.
If the rich guy does that, he's going to have an advantage over some poor bastard like me.
That's all I'd allow folks to "buy".

well it i got specops, command ships, recons at lvl5 and stuffs so ive trained long skills my self to.. it was just an idea, i knew many would dislike it, but tough that atleast someone would like the idea a 30day gtc for 5days training would get very expensive to train like bs5..
well it was just an idea

Its not necessarily a terrible idea (there are worse on these forums), but its not actually good. As people have pointed out, the fact that you can't just grind SP up 23/7 or buy SP means that the somewhat poorer amongst us/those with less time don't get disadvantaged when it comes to what skills we have. As its really the only part of the game which adheres to this ideal completely (beside char buying I guess), its nice to leave it as such.

You already can trade RL money for SP. It's called the Character Bazaar.

Time is the only true limited commodity in Eve. To tie it so directly to RL cash would be a mistake. Time, in Eve, is both supply and demand.
An item that has 5% more oomph than the base item has an ISK value that is generally equal in value to the amount of time that it takes to train that same skill to 5% more benefit. Allowing a player to purchase that 5% of time, instead of playing the game, and generating the ISK, an unlimited commodity by the way, would upset the balance of the Eve economy.
Skill points are Eve coke, and the first hit is free. You should be thankful CCP won't let you spend all your real money on skill points. They're doing you a favor.

I have been playing for 6 years almost (took a break) I have close to 100m SP.
if someone wanted to pay to advance to my level, or beyond. Hell let them. Solution: Make it cost 1xPlex & 300m Isk for 750k Exp.
A: it would generate loads of real money for CCP B: it would boost the PLEX market ingame C: it would drain Isk of the market in EVE
Would be simply awesome for those that wanna try to catch up, they better plan for it. but damn they wanna burn cash. Go ahead.
