I finally got to see an episode of Top Gear, two actually, and I love it.
It was the one where they had to buy an Italian super-car for under 10 grand. And when James drove up with that Lambo, my whole family were laughing our asses off. And, of course, "I had to fill it with electricity." Hilarious.
My favorite part was probably the insurance bit.
The second episode was the one where they took their super-cars to that big-ass bridge in France. Not as good, but I liked the Ford ASBO part (my parents didn't get the joke).
Now I know what all those Stig threads are about! Go me!

I only recently started watching them *properly* (in the loosest sense of the word) recently myself, it's a very good show. The same structure they use each episode in itself adds to the charm and comedy. There are some great clips of insane things they do, many with the help of the armed forces ( the Veyron Vs. Eurofighter one is incredible!). And of course the Stig is simply timeless. -------------

Screw you, he promotes death by reckless driving. And all the rest, and all the stupid trainer **** mags like Max Power. May they all suffer horrifically depressing personal loss to a demographic group they see as wholly irrelevant and completely dangerous.

Don't worry, I think that song is ******ed, too. I just thought it would be worth a giggle.
Personally, I don't have a preference for any of the Top Gear guys, I just like watching them make fun of each other for ******ed things (like getting teeth whitened).
They drive some awesome cars, and I wish I was in the UK so I could hand them a wad of cash to teach me to drive a standard transmission the right way.. (though their general dislike of Porsche.. I don't agree with that.)

Top Gear is simply TOP Tele.
Basically you have 3 children who try out fast cars or silly cars or useless cars and then tell you about it. In the gaps between them trying out cars they so lots of silly things to do with cars.
F'nog: I recommend you find the 2 episodes concerning the Toyota Truck that is drowned, crashed, burned, blown up etc and still worked afterwards (thats the grotty red vehicle they often stand in front of when opening the programme) Also, keep an eye out for the Vietam Road Trip, the African Safari and the race to the North Pole.
Top Gear is a class act. Not because its a great motoring programme but because its not.

haha the best things they do in Top Gear are the races. So funny to watch :D The funny thing about this sentence is that by the time you've finished reading it, it's too late for you to realise it doesn't say anything. |

The challenge in that drug dealers car against the British Army is one of the best, it should still be up on the BBC iPlayer. If not on Youtube, iPlayer has full episodes though.

Posting to confirm that Top Gear is a hilarious show, and that all that stuff about proper subtle british humor is apparently rubbish
The big question for me is how much stuff do they actually make up - for example, did that jaguar really make it 850 miles on one tank of gas with enough left for another 150 miles left in the tank?
Of course not like anybody watches it for its useful, factual commentary

Trust me, that jag, despite the numbers the factory might give, should quite easily be able to do 1000 miles on a single tank of fuel. That is, if most of what it's doing a driving on the motorway. Modern diesels can be very, very effecient. They don't, typically, need as many revs as petrol cars to drive at the same speeds in the same gear, meaning they go just as fast, for less fuel.
And F'nog, welcome to your next addiction. Grab some pop corn, sit back and laugh your head of watching those guys doing some pretty weird stuff.

Yeah, my dad saw the Vietnam episode and loved it. He didn't tape it since "it'll be on again." Now we just have to figure out when that is.
