Hello Eris & team,
Nice thing to see in action.
The "type" selection seems adequate.
The description field allows for links to put inserted (to a solarsystem, character, whatever), but they don't show up when highlighting a fleet that's available (would be nice if they did, especially for locations).
If you select your fleet to have a description but keep it unregistered, the description goes away. I'm unsure the value of the "remain unregistered" value if the fleet shows up nowhere and the description is gone. Seems redundant to me (closing the window or clicking "cancel" achieves the same apparent effect).
Registering a fleet should be available in the contextual menu of either self->fleet->register fleet or right clicking on the arrow in the fleet window (or both, ideally)
a multiline description gets chopped off, can the separator between the list of available fleets and the description be draggable to increase the height? or the description field have a scrollbar as necessary?

A cap on the amount of people able to join would also be nice, not everything needs as many people as possible.

A problem I noticed, for militia fleets in particular, is that anyone can join a registered fleet. This would mean the feature would never get used in FW, because of the large numbers of spy alts around we'd have to keep on kicking continually.
I suggest a "waiting room" system is used for it, so as when you click join fleet from fleet finder, the Wing commander/fleet boss/whoever can pick who to let into fleet and who not to. |

Is it a bad sign that I did a double take on Mark's avatar because it wasn't a cat in a hat?
Also, back on topic, could I get a quick recap on this subjec, not been able to sign in today.

it would also be a nice addition if you could right click on the boss of the fleets name and show info, start convo |

Yes, we're still working the kinks out of the ui design

Yes, that's been defected.

Yes, contextual menus will be available
Also, players have raised the question of whether the Fleet Finder will not be useful for Factional Warfare since spies and evildoers will be able to join advertised fleets and grief. We will add the ability for the fleet finder advertisement to be marked as 'requires approval'. In this mode your application to the fleet will need to be approved before you can join.
We are still working on the fleet finder and on the fleet UI design as well so that it all fits better together. Stay tuned to changes on Singularity and feel free to give us feedback on this thread (in fact, I insist! :))

Like i've mentioned before a while ago, if this doesn't make it then it won't be used in 0.0 i can tell you that :) But if it makes it, then it really is a very awesome little addition to this game. Signature Locked. Please refrain from amending a moderated warning. Navigator |

It would be really useful for there to be a way to set the fleet's current destination. Not that is should necessarily available to view outside of the fleet, but it would certainly be useful inside.

1) If I am in a player corp, I don't need this function. Flets are main benefit of player corps. 2) If I am in an NPC corp, I don't need anyone to group with because there is basicaly no reason to fleet up in high-sec - content and efficiency wise. 3) If I am doing something worthy or needed to fleet up, I am not inviting people I can't trust.
Honestly, who is supposed to use this function? Didn't you say you want to new player to get into player corps? Is this supposed to be a way for new scam and grief of new players?

Can a community of anti-pirates from different corps (outside alliance) use this fleet finder? How does that work?

Edited by: BiggestT on 05/10/2009 11:41:39 I can see a possible issue...
To confuse spies and enemies from gaining intel, ppl will likely have a few "fake fleets" up (ie two alts in a fake fleet and everyone else in the "real" fleet). These fleets will make it impossible to discern the fake fleets from the real fleets.
Now one would intuitively say, "Well you'll just have to ask someone about which fleet is the real fleet". However, this now makes the whole system redundant (no gain from before as ppl would just ask if a fleet is up).
Can you implement some way to prevent fake fleets from arising i.e. certain no. of ppl required and they must not all be in station etc etc? EVE Trivia EVE History

You suck at spymastering. First: "this could be used for making spying harder" Second: "but it won't work" Third: "so please make it impossible to use the system to make spying harder"... quite contradictory to #2 If there is no problem (#2) why ask for a 'solution' (#3), unless you have a clear spying interest.
Way to reveal yourself.

yes it isnt quite working as intended. The spy angle is a factor i guess all alliances deal with. I think the system as is is reasonmable, whats the max number of fleets possible ?

Edited by: DNSBLACK on 06/10/2009 13:40:29 Love this addition.
Reason.
Coms traffic. During our combat ops we use to have to broadcast the fleet invite in corp so people could jion now they just go to the fleet jion and hook up. With free move on they can get into the right squad and so on. makes for less hassel getting people taken care of and creates less chatter on coms during combat ops.
I would also like to see a direct jion to squad 1 - 2- 3 and so on. We break our squads down into jobs and would like to have the ability off of this feature to go directly to that squad. I know with free move on it really isnt a must but it would be nice.
Love the feature gus keep it up.

Post with your main if ur gonna make half-arsed assumptions like that.
If you can actually read, the post has nothing to do with spying, more the methods used to prevent spying and what they'd do to the usefulness of fleet finder.
Yes there shld be spy counters, but not so they make ppl ask which fleet to join in corp chat etc if they want to join one (which wld actually make it easier for spies, which im against). I actually dont give a damn about spying on hostiles, I can see its appeal, but I prefer to shoot stuff (hell I can't even use a scan probe xD).
My post has nothing to do with difficulty/ease of spying, its about how methods to avoid spies will possibly make this system redundant.
Stop trolling. EVE Trivia EVE History

Make it possible to only allow a special kind of pilots to join the fleet [Only pilots in Channel XYZ or only Pilot with a Blue Standing or so]. Else it's no realy advatage over the "post-fleet-invation"

Excellent feedback, thank you.
As to the question of using this for people outside your corp/alliance/militia, we are in the process of adding a 'standing based' scope to the fleet finder. This will allow you to have your fleet open for people that you have set at high enough standing (and/or security rating).

I hope this means that people will be able to post fleet invites in channels based on the Fleet Bos's standings as well?

Please add a confirmation to the button 'Leave' in the fleetfinder. The button let you dismiss from the fleet instant. As i made the mistake to click the button to 'leave' the window i was suprised by being kicked ;) So confirmation will avoid a lot of trouble i think.

Yes, it would be very helpful if it were possible (aside from being alliance, corp or militia limited) to add the option of players/corps with standing larger than x to be apply for/join a fleet.
