Hello there
Dunno if this is the right place to post that, but since it is about Fleet UI revamping I give it a try. :)
Fleet bonuses Fleet members get fleet bonuses if they have both a valid commander and a fleet booster in the same system and none of them are docked.
One of the main reason bonus don't get applied is because the commander doesn't have the required leadership skills (leadership, wing commandą).
So you can see if *you* have a valid commander in the system (thanks to the green tick/red cross in the top left corner) but you have no clue if the people below you does.
It would be very helpful to see if people in squad / wing get the bonuses applied or not.
For example if the icon of the commander (currently the yellow chevrons) looks different (eg. green or red) whether he/she has the required leadership skill or not.
You still have to deal with the problem (understand why bonus are not applied) but at least you have a way to spot there is a problem.
Because, yes, sometime this little 15% extra armor can make the difference ;)
Thanks,
Suo

The option to resize the Broadcast buttons would be nice, they're pretty small.

Honestly, who is supposed to use this function? Didn't you say you want to new player to get into player corps? Is this supposed to be a way for new scam and grief of new players?
providence.. if it is done right e.g. can be used with blues..

I don't see the point in removing feet linking in chat in an attempt to force people to use the fleet finder. In *MANY* instances a link in corp/alliance chat is the most efficient way to get people to join a fleet. It requires one click on their part. Explain the reasoning why that functionality is being removed? |

You will be able to drag a fleet finder advert into chat as a click-to-join link.

Edited by: Patoa on 19/10/2009 11:10:07 The ability to whitelist corps/alliances would be very useful just like you do now in intel channels. This would help coalitions which may become even more prevalent with the launch of Dominion - and it would also let renters take part in home defense ops moar easily if they want to.
But yeah definitely an improvement over spamming alliance to try and get an invite after you've disco'd in a hostile system (while bouncing safes in a battleship as reds try to probe you - not fun! ). |

I didn't see this mentioned, but it would be nice to be able to disable the "location of commander" info in the advert. There are situations where one might want to hide that detail.

There is the option to "hide information" in the advert. When enabled the size of your fleet and the Boss info are hidden.

Edited by: Shiu on 20/10/2009 04:45:59 Love whats there so far, but it can be even better.
This is related more to the fleet window in general I guess.
When people join a fleet, it would make the life of the FC SO MUCH EASIER if he had some sort of fleet info window where he could see the amount of different ship types in fleet. And also to have people get the option of being moved into the right squads once they join the fleet. Free move is good and all, but dealing with 200 people who cant get their collective asses in gear and move in to the right squads, can sometimes be a PITA. Now I could probably go on all night with things I would love to have in the fleet window for FC purposes. Like the mass of all ships in individual squads, for black ops purposes, but thats just me dreaming I guess (back to the spreadsheet calculations on that one ) All in all, I would just like more information to be available to the FC (this should be assignable to other people in fleet) "This long run is a misleading guide to current affairs - In the long run we are all dead." - John Maynard Keynes |

Not directly the fleet finder, i know, but..
The Watchlist. It would be great to be able to alter the positions via drag&drop. Right now, the order is static. If i want to add someone to the top position, i have to throw everyone out of my watchlist, add the person, and add everyone again. This is getting quite tedious after a while.
On the fleet finder itself: It seems that i can't open the fleet for _everyone_. A standing of 0.1 seems to be the absolute minimum. Intended? ----------------------------------------------

Not sure if mentioned yet but the FF window has a variable "minimum size" based on what tab you are on. If you are looking at the fleet or the broadcasts you can make it pretty narrow. But if you switch to the fleet finder. It makes the window much larger. It will screw up window placement in an already cluttered window.

I was wondering if you could add a fleet member log with information about who and when joined and left. I checked SiSi, but apparently it only records member movement to command positions and back. I would also love a way to check the fleet member log once the fleet has already disbanded.

That's already implemented internally and will be on sisi next week.

We'll take the watch list reordering under consideration. As for the standing, yes, 0.1 is the absolute minimum. It represents a the lowest positive standing that you can constrain invitees to. As such, the Fleet Finder does not support completely open fleets; you can only invite people who you have set standing of.

Any chance for the link to have the fleet's name from the FFinder on it? Since just the "Fleet Invitation (Alliance)" currently sometimes is way too uninformative, or even mix'n'mess, requiring additional line for explanation. -- "Entering MH means instant death. May we have the minimum standing restriction set to 0.0 so that if we so choose neutrals may join the fleet?
As it stands, if you choose based on standings, you might as well just restrict it to invite only.
Also is there going to be an option to form fleet for alliance only not just corp only?

Signed.
As FC to have current shiptypes of at least those in system with you, or those in space? Would be FANTASTIC. The roll call problems of what are you flying cause a lot of delay and faffing. I agree this could be put on an additional window which the FC can open to plan from. Perhaps even let squad/wing commanders see the details of those under you?
Shame I think this is too late for this dev cycle for Dominion.

Sweet! Good move.
New Layout
- I like the new layout merged. While some may say its less flexible I think it works to reduce unnecessary clutter. The top broadcast on the fleet window is great. If you need more detail flick to the Broadcasts tab. I suspect Logistics will keep broadcasts open + their watchlist.
- I question whether the broadcast target (subordinate, all, commander, etc) should be a drop down. On the other hand this is a panic friendly UI in the sense hammering the mouse X times is easier to do with adrenalin than click a tiney dropdown, perhaps a key short cut option? Please. Its also an experts UI feature (for people that know it well) as opposed to a new user (wants to see all options clearly). Which I think is right. Jury is out on this one, comments pls people.
- Can we control where the fresh Joinees of a fleet go? Nominate a squad perhaps. Or alternatively block certain squads from new members. e.g. Nominate "Range DPS" as the default. Or otherwise Block "Scouts" from getting new members. Would help organise building fleets no end (Evolution of Shiu's idea)
@Sigras: Can you describe where you'd use an invite for 0.0 standings? I'm uncertain if i agree with you or not. Knowing where you mean to use it would help me decide.

Edited by: Demetri Slavic on 21/10/2009 15:34:13 The Option to allow people to find fleets in fleet finder by personal Standing is great, but can we also get the ability to have fleets displayed to people with certain standings to your Corp and Alliance?
Edit. Can we also have the ability to split the tabs from the Fleet stack into different Windows, ie have the Fleet tab in one window and the Broadcast tab in another.

While you guys are working on fleets, it would be real nice to be able to have a note of ship type (and maybe even nearest celestial?) of the people below you in the command hierarchy.
- In essence, any combat related activity involving damage has been 'speed nerfed' to just take 6 times longer with a predetermined outcome coined balance by CCP. |

I copied this from the features thread i made because it seems relevent - all these ideas can be turned on and off, useable by FC and maybe wing commanders
Someone suggested for the fleet window, that finding out the composition of your fleet is sometimes difficult, especially when an FC randomly calls a group together to catch a wt 3 jumps away and stuff like that. So the suggestion by a guy at this event, was to include shiptypes next to the names in the fleet window. I want to put this and another idea into a formal proposal for CCP because i believe these would be very useful in the future.
----------------------------------------- Fleet Shiptypes: In the fleet window a the name of the current shiptype being flown by each pilot is present BEFORE the pilot name (because it is easier to read as all the names are at an equal level) Eg - Good [Tempest] Bob from accounting [Dominix] Ed from human resources
Eg - Bad Bob from accounting [Tempest] Carebear [Domininx] omgwtfbbqhax [Abbadon] leet [Merlin]
As you can see reading the shiptpes in the first example is quicker and easier, espeically if u have a fleet of 40 :)
This could work the same way CEO's and stuff can see the players in their corp and what shiptype they are currently in, and would help make FC's more aware of their fleet. This could operate for only FC's eyes or the entire fleet, pros and cons can be debated but this is the general idea
-------------------------------- Fleet Locations
As a off and on FC in FW i like to know exactly where my pilots are and what they are in. Too many times have i seen 27 in fleet and 10 on the gate where we're meant to be. Asking for locations and getting responses can use up valuable time and so this is my proposal.
Allow the FC and wing commanders (maybe squad commanders too) to do a search on pilot locations. These would show the current system the pilot is in and in brackets how many jumps away that is from your current location which can be ordered in accending/decending order in the number of jumps away.
This interface could also have options including filtering out pilots 0 jumps from you (in your system), more then X number of jumps, or by system names.
Eg: Using the Amarr/Minmatar FW area
[Kourmonen][0] Jellybean [Tuomuta][2] Bob [Tuomuta][2] Brian [Tuomuta][2] Braindead [kuomi][3] Beachball [Amarr][8] Bubble
i believe this would significantly 1. reduce fleet comm's on vent/ts/eve voice and 2. give the FC a quick count of how far away people are.
An even more advanced stage of this would be for the server to recognize the ship the person was in and report a ETA based on hull type and how fast they align/warp roughly.

Edited by: Quesa on 26/10/2009 06:01:22 I'd like some way to restrict the fleet to those who were part of it say, before getting disconnected or having to re-log? Probably a weird request.
I'd also like a tool that displays how many jumps out someone is from your current system ...
and the map to actually display where the gangmates are in a system :) Which, iirc, is a bug that has yet to be resolved.
