Your entire post is invalidated by the fact that leaving npc corp isn't any more of a requirement with this change.
You're butthurt because for the first time since the start of EVE, there is an incentive to leave your newbie starter corp.

Not whining b/c the effect is negligible, but one needs to remember that there's more ways to PvP than to go pew-pew lazors. And "hiding" in the NPC corp lets us avoid the lame wanna-be pirates while we do it.

This is so funny.
ISK farmers yelling how nice this is and at the same time they are planning what will the corp name be for their one man alt corp...
Seriously, let's face it, most of the 1337 pirates or 0.0 pvp pilots have mission alt in high sec and in NPC corporation farming ISK while you are in fleet waiting for the POS bashing wich is scheduled at 5 AM your local time

From an RP-Standpoint corporation tax doesn't make sense at all. Why would you PAY your employer any money ? Should'nt it be the other way around ?
CCP should change the system so that you pay tax to the faction/state.

In WHICH manner you are an employer of a npc corporation? Do you mine for them? Do you do office work? Inventions? Production? No? So, i don't see the point.
Edit: npc corps are more like a co-op than a corporation. So, the benefits of it (wardeck immunity, mainly) needs to be payed.

Ahh no, you don't do nothing of that, you just grief haulers in lowsec! God damn! Of course you should then pay ISK to me, your CEO, the living god of your corporation! Behold! I am your emperor and I shall take all your ISK after I push this button wich says....'100% TAX'...OOOOHH YEAAAHHHHHHHH

then they should not be called corporations but whatever.. 'clubs' if you want.
and you should have an option not to be in one, be it npc or player-.

To the OP,
CCP is not doing it so that other people can shoot you. They're doing it so that players join up with other players and do things together. You do have the option like many, myself included, to make your own little corp and run around and do whatever you want. Few high sec pirate corps will bother to waste the time with a tiny corp.
Watch I'll get war deced now lol. But they'll be horribly bored chasing one target for the expense. Try it, starting a corp is cheap, you don't need an office/hangar. You can set your own tax to 11% for spite, and it's still all your ISK.
Bottom line is, they're not doing it for the sole purpose of people shooting you, they're doing it to encourage people to interact with one another and create stronger social bonds.

Edited by: Korizan on 20/09/2009 00:24:32 I am not sure how this whole thing is going to go over.
I can see a ton of one person corporations being formed. But here is the catch.
Those corporations will be filled with alts that never leave station.
ie I am a solo mission runner, industrialist, miner and I just create a dummy corp with a alt just to sell, or manufacture (it doesn't take long). I can then continue to remain in NPC corp just as I was before I just use a different character to launder my ISK. IF the alt gets war decked big deal they never leave station anyways.
This is just one scenario I thought of right off hand I am sure several other ideas are already in the works.
The point being what will the 11 % tax really do and will it accomplish its job ? Got me, not sure what the actual intent is of CCP.

AFAIK, it's the same old corp tax as always, so only bounties and rewards are impacted. If they're an alt that never leaves the station, then the tax won't touch them anyway.

God, if you're that worried about being able to kill people in hi-sec without CONCORD tearing you a new hole (lol @ people who don't like concord) then you should just quit this game. Player corps aren't 'required' and they shouldn't be.

As I have pointed out here the 11% tax will be the direct cause of the greatest gank bear emorage whine fest EVE has ever seen. I welcome the end results of this tax because it will cost the gank bears huge amounts of isk to get no kills at all and won't hurt mission runners at all if they are smart.

Because it pays to have friends in a multiplayer online game where every stranger you meet is potentially out to rob you blind and pod you. You're not even safe from that in a npc corp. -- Eventus stultorum magister. |

This is an mmo. meaning you need to play with other people. Eve doesnt have a single player mode.
I run a corp myself, I get war decced sometimes even though I mind my own business most of the time. It happens. You kill those who try to kill you, make your isk, and move on.
By being in a NPC corp you are missing out on that entire experience. Why do you even bother playing if you just play completely alone? |
