My alt will be soon in his shiny Paladin, however I am still little worried about the cap usage.
[Paladin, Mission Running] Amarr Navy Heat Sink Amarr Navy Heat Sink Amarr Navy Heat Sink Amarr Navy Large Armor Repairer Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor EM Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II
Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Large Nanobot Accelerator I Large Nanobot Accelerator I
It's still under planning. Should I put a Heavy Cap Booster there since I don't have any other usage for the cargo bay? I will not collect loot or salvage. My alt does all of that. I plan to put 3x Tractor Beams to highs or 2x Tractor Beams + Auto Targeter for extra targets.
DPS with Scorch with my skills is 662 and optimal with tracking computers at 58 km wich is more than enough, I think mostly you need the tracking script there instead of optimal script. Those hardeners are for Sansha & Blood Raider.
It's lot harder to figure out good DPS and good tank with Paladin compared to Golem. In Golem you get both easily.
Oh yeah, about the tracking computers, should I switch them for faction webbers or keep the tracking computers..?

As far as missioning in a paladin i haven't done any myself, only used it for pvp, but i believe the cookie cutter setup features 4 tachyons, not MP's.
As far as the tank goes, I'm assuming you're tanking versus rats that do the same damage as sansha's so i think you'll be able to tank more if you switch 1 thermic hardener for another EM.
Yes, your thermal will be way lower than your EM resistance, however since the stacking penalty applies to both EM and thermic and the rats will do more EM damage than thermal damage, i think your effectively tanked DPS will be higher if you make that switch.

as the poster above me said, try tachys for missioning
I would go with a setup along these lines
[Paladin, Mission Running2] Amarr Navy Heat Sink Amarr Navy Heat Sink Amarr Navy Heat Sink Amarr Navy Large Armor Repairer Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor EM Hardener II Amarr Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Gallente Navy Stasis Webifier Cap Recharger II
Tachyon Beam Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency L Tachyon Beam Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency L Tachyon Beam Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency L Tachyon Beam Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency L [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Large Capacitor Control Circuit I Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I
2 more faction mods than your setup, worth around 60 mil.
This ship burns through Sansha, Blood raiders, drones, and merchs so fast cap use seldom become a problem. switch to Xray crystals if you need 20KM range more (also remember base fall off is 20 KM)

What he said. My paladin has same low-slots as you but different highs/mids:
Tracking Comp w. tracking True Sansha Web 2x Cap Recharger II
4x Tachyon II 2x Tractors 1x Salvager
Navy MF and UV for 35km/60km range respectively. Lasts four times as long as scorch and beams allows for extra range in case of Sansha TD spam. Been experimenting with a 100Mn AB/Megabeam II fitting, so far with good results, slightly lower alpha but better damage overall due to better RoF and tracking.
Keep the Mega Pulses around for the occasional Angel mission, they like to stroll right up into your face where beams are worse than crap.
Grab as much loot/salvage in the Paladin as you can during the actual mission (no need to slow down, just what you can) and run clean-up afterwards if need be .. speeds up process a lot.

Rule of thumb I use for Amarr missioning with lasers:
Using EFT have a look at the cap usage with everything turned on, but only have half of your guns running. If it shows as stable, this is enough.

Edited by: Mystical Dawn on 22/09/2009 12:15:34 But T2 Tachyons with Amarr multi has 1/3 of MP tracking and only about 150 dps more... Plus the massive tracking disrupting from Sanshas and Bloodraiders, I really don't see a point of using Tachyons. Volley sure is larger but the tracking is awfull.
EDIT: Hmm... tracking scripts sure help quite much, brings it to 0.28something

Edited by: MyForumSlave on 22/09/2009 12:30:51 I run my pala like this...
4x AN Tachyon Beams with AN MF or AN Standard for more range... 2x Tractor I 1x Salvager II
1x Faction AB 1x Faction Tracking Comp 2x Cap Recharger II
2x AN Heatsink 1x Faction Power Diagnostic System 1x C-Type EANM (or 3rd Heatsink for most missions) 1x Faction Thermic Hardener 1x Faction EM Hardener 1x Officer LAR
CCC II Auxiliary Nano Pump II
5x Hammerhead II 5x Warrior II
Try killing small stuff in range and bs within 40ks to limit traveling time to get to the wrecks.
You don't need to be fully cap stable as long as you're aware of the few missions with heavy neuting... i think it was blood raider blockade that once almost got me killed when doing it semi afk.
Edit: Feed your drones on everything non-bs that comes closer then 15ks.

You can, but would need two Ancillary Current Routers. You can fit 8 Tachs on the Abaddon with just one ACR, but would need a +3% PG implant with AWU level 4.
Damage would be better on the Abaddon compared to the Apocalypse when fitting 8 Tachyons, as long as we're talking <50km engagements.

Thx, sometimes i put in a 2nd TC or a a faction web, but for missions like WC i really prefer the AB for travelling to gates. Btw, an AB also helps to avoid damage from Angel BSs which come very close in many missions.

[Paladin Lvl4s]
High. 4 x Amarr navy Tachs, navy multi/standard crystals ( tracking is not an issue if you know what you are doing ) 2 x tractors 1 x salvager
Medium. 1 x Gist C-type AB ( its doesn't become fast, but less slow ) 1 x T2 senser booster ( scan resolution ) ( faster targeting = faster kills ) 2 x T2 recharger
Low. 1 x centus A-type large armor repair ( any named works ) 4 x Amarr navy heat sinks ( its all about DPS guys ) = Kill Kill Kill Kill !!! 2 x centus A-type EANMs ( for a paladin beginnner I would start with 3 or mission specific active hardeners of atleest T2 offc, and "only" 3 Heat sinks ) ( I dont't see why any would only use 2 heat sinks thats a waste of killing time IMO )
Rig. 1 x Ancillary Current Router I 1 x Capacitor Control Circuit II
Drones. 15 x Hobgoblins II |

To get pulse working well your going to want scorch which becomes an expensive habbit plus pulse lack the range advantage.

To quote from the stacking penalty guide (and save us from all the math formula stuff):
"Conclusion 1: Generally, donĘt use more than 3 modules/rigs that affect the same attribute if they have a stacking penalty. Exception to this are of course the Remote Sensor Boosters and the Tracking Disruptors, because if you donĘt use them all on the same target, each target will get his own stack."
See full guide here: http://couzin2000.net/downloads/eve_online_stuff/StackingPenaltyGuide.pdf
I personally even try to avoid stacking more then 2 of a kind... if the mission is so easy that you don't need a tank at all there's no point in doing it in the first place.

Mega pulse works great. You dont want to kill BS outside of tractor beam range anyway. And a AB saves a lot of time in some missions. With scourge you get about 65km effective range wich is plenty to kill off the not loot worthy ships.
This is the fit I have usually:
[Paladin, Pulse] Amarr Navy Heat Sink Amarr Navy Heat Sink Amarr Navy Heat Sink Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Amarr Navy Large Armor Repairer
Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800 Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Tracking Computer II, Tracking Speed 100MN Afterburner II
Mega Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency L Mega Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency L Mega Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency L Mega Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency L Salvager I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I
Auxiliary Nano Pump I Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Hammerhead II x5
For some missions I change to Tachyons though. Since its so easy to do with the new fitting interface. Just drop AB and injector for 2 cap rechargers.

I'm sure they are... but how are the costs for T2 ammo when running missions?
I didn't train up T2 Large Beam/Pulse yet since I mostly fly cruiser or battlecruiser class ships and the factions tachyons are sufficient for missionrunning in a pala.

I buy scorch for about 500k per crystal, and I break one every 3-5 missions or so.

For those of you fitting 4 damage mods: don't. A TE will give you much more applicable/effective DPS to a longer range.

Edited by: Giannamichaels on 22/09/2009 16:00:42 i like that one, you can hit cruisers down to about 12km with good skills and tracking comps, i always kill small stuff at range first and then cruisers and then bs last. I dont like that cap power relay in a low slot, that should be a faction eanm eg an amarr navy one, boost your resists a lot

Ya, but then the cap problems say hi again :P
True Sansha ENAM + 2 CCCs gives you 100+ more tank but then you might have to fit faction Tachs instead. If you do you can probably replace one of the T2 CCCs with a nano pump and get like 800 tank
Not a bad setup but doesn't break the 1000 dps barrier without drones :P

19 minutes cap stable is FAR too long. My setup was something like 4 minutes stable, a little bit less, and it had plenty of cap to spare.
Replace the CPR with a TE imo.

You might see it when you see that tracking disruption also lowers optimal and falloff. .. and I think I never heard the words "only" and "150 dps more" in the same sentence before.
