Absolutely fantastic work, as always. I only have one minor gripe, in the Galente movie, about 3 minutes in, as you're passing down the main pipe towards the Megathron, there are some lit support struts (right hand side, upper half) that seem to pass through the another set as the camera transposes them, its -really- ugly... Yes, the fanfest videos we liked are much more stationary...but these do fine too. Just edit off the ending and beginning, and they loop perfectly...then if it's too much movement for you, just slow it down a bit before slapping on your desktop.

The sizes were 1920x1080 and have been converted to 1440x1080 so it still looks great. My first try and file for this was very low quality but it was also small.. This file is still under what the 4 files add up to but it still remains at around 750MB. Please post any crits or comments. I use a free and good program, Video Wallpapers is a small download that you must install on Vista/XP machines. Once installed, (its a simple .scr file that allows you to play any movies as a screensaver) give the location of EvE_SS.wmv. Thats it... I do understand Pottseys point though. While some people don't mind the (albeit very slow and smooth) motion in these video's, the more stationary ones from fan fest do have some appeal for those that get distracted by the movement behind their applications. That being said, I'm certainly not voicing any complaints about these video's. They are wonderful. I still love the idea of having an interface with drop down lists of which ships are shown, but that's a whole different kettle of fish and I am sure well beyond the scope of this little side project. ===== If you go to Za'Ha'Dum I will gank you.

We managed to accomplish the same thing lol, i also did what you have done but i kept the resolution at 1920x1080 so it takes up 636mb. Eve Screensaver I also made if anyone is interested a sped up "lite" version of the video that is about 8 minutes in total, is only 370mb and is still as high quality and smooth as the regular All Hanger video above but just sped up to 1.9x speed. And when I say massive, it made to be in full HD and as big as the stage backdrop--so like a bajillion MB file. Unless I am mistaken, nobody has a screen that big to show it on (except us at Fanfest). If you do, please send us a picture of you playing EVE on it and I'll definitely get you the original file somehow :) So, it just wasn't possible or appropriate to provide that original file for everyone. We went back and forth internally a bit on how best to fulfill the obvious desire with something else. Keep in mind this was while the Dominion trailer was being made and while one of our main video guys was all mired up having twins. No, they are not named "Tibus Heth" or "Jamyl Sarum", but they and mom are doing well. So, we figured the easiest way to do it was to provide a looping video (like the original) and re-render it a bit to fit normal HD screens with a reduced filesize. Making it directly as a screensaver would mean a much larger filesize for no reason, when, as seen in other parts of this thread, there are ways to have looping videos as screensavers on many platforms. The added benefit of providing them as videos is to make available more visuals for those creative ones of you to pull clips from as you create your own EVE movies. We've seen amazing and hilarious uses of the various movies we have put out already and hoped this would help those efforts down the road. The ESRB stuff is, well, unavoidable as a business... The various threads on this subject have shown ingenuity already :) As I said before, there was originally just the Amarr one. We therefore decided to make three entirely new videos to represent the other races as a thank you for waiting for them. Of course, once the Dominion PEWPEWBurnThemAll trailer was out and we started down that road, the inherent challenges of the internal architecture of the Caldari and Minmatar stations being considerably smaller made it tough to provide the same grandiose majesty and camera panning as the others. Our video team ironed it out though and they turned out well. In case you couldn't find the Minnie ones, direct links are here. Still sorting out some weirdness with displaying them on the Visuals page. Hope that all makes sense. While CCP can't thumbs up external programs for sure, those curious might want to check out the following threads where EVE pilots have tossed in their two cents on getting them to work on different types of computers. For example watch http://www.youtube.com/ccpgames#p/u/5/M6E4dDDUF90 20seconds and the camera has not moved. 2mins 11 seconds in and the camera is still pointing at the same command ship. They move very very slowly. and everyone else so far is jsut happy with them as wallpapers. If you want wallpapers of just ships, then use fraps, record your ship in station, and use it as a wallpaper.
