US player here, and yeah, keep it as is.
Just like on the briny blue, a wreck belongs to whoever can get to it first (we won't get into the Territorial waters debate). I fail to see why the hand-wringing Carebears can't take some lessons from their more clever counterparts who manage to minimize the hit they take from professional salvagers. I don't want to give any trade secrets away here, but I see mission runners all the time who make efforts to ensure that they get what they want from their loot and salvage, while minimizing what other players can make off with. Those guys make the game much more challenging (and no, I'm not talking about the fellows that take million ISK pot shots at Large, unlooted wrecks) and set a fine example for their less-skilled fellows.
If you're worried about professionals salvaging your stuff, a little more planning and less witching and moaning would be more productive.

yes and for the guy/girl who made the righeous argument on "the loot is mine, hence the wreck is mine", let me tell you there is a pretty big difference between the two.
Loot, drag-drop, its in your hold! Th-e end...
wreck, target-f1-wait-slavage... soounds familiar? about the same as on roids, ice, radar cans, mag cans, rats (you shoot them to get bounty, thats your reward)... all things you dont own... or do you sugest claim mechaincs on roids in the future? its bad form perhaps to mine the same roid, or take s radar can from under someones nose... but still valid.
Read my sig
Edit: btw, it does not help to say that "CCP say so.." you just attack us from the other angle, cause you don't agree, period, so it does not matter how we present it, it will still be wrong in your eyes... Except a valid game mechanic can't be wrong... ITS A VALID GAME MECHANIC!!!! So disagree all you want, but don't ride some superior entitelment wave, suggesting you are in your right... CCP clearly states that you are not, they have also stated that its not the wreck you own, but the LOOT CAN inside it... So i hope they make the loot free for all to in Domi, and you can all shut up about the inconsistencies...

This is one of the most boring hi sec mechanics.
In low sec if someone comes to peek, he can get his dose of lead in his butt without Concord breaking the balls.
When someone not in fleet enters a mission and starts doing anything he should become shootable and Concord disabled for him (of course if the missioneer starts shooting he gets red too, without Concord as well). Pew pew a la Far West. - Auditing and consulting

There is already a place like this. Mission runners have made it abundantly clear that, by and large, they don't want that. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Petition it. Stealing mission specific items from cans that do not flag the thief to you (for example damaged ship in worlds collide) was a while ago classed as exploit - dunno how it's now.

You should mission in low sec. Then you won't have this problem.

Happy happy lala land is that way --->
Look, eve used to be a very mature game, sadly it attracted a lot of emokids who get beaten by their stephdads and feel the need to share their frustration with others by (ab)using the system to do nasty things to others... It's not fun for u if ur the victim, but changing the rules isn't really going to change things, cuz the rules arn't the problem... the emokids are ________________________________________________

How do you think I know that I can shoot at people without Concord breaking my balls if I did not mission in low sec?
Of course it's something sparse, because in the end I CBA gearing up for L5s (not really mad at missioning) and L4s yield overall less than in hi sec, due to long travels and possible ship losses. - Auditing and consulting

Ship losses, ok… fine…
…but long travels? Eh? It's the exact same mechanic, so they won't be any longer there than they are in highsec. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Hmm I omitted the bit: the travel to carry the loot and salvage to a decent hub, something that does not happen in hi sec. Plus in hi sec I can load my freighter, in low sec it's a bit... impractical. - Auditing and consulting

Edited by: Shan''Talasha Mea''Questa on 23/10/2009 08:33:40 Since nobody mentioned this on the first page,
Missions in COSMOS are not spawned, the acceleration gates are always there and as long as you meet the gates requirements you can enter whenever you please. Shoot at the rats as much as you like, they keep resawning anyway and loot the mission objective each time it respawns.
There are COSMOS guides out there, some will likely have a mentioning of respawn timers of the item you need, you just have to be a bit more alert then the other guy.
Haven't been in COSMOS much, but when I was there I can't remember having your problems.

Ok, I bet we can line up the lines here a bit.
Everyone who is supporting CCP's lack of action on this is most likely a EU/TZ player, and everyone who does not support it is most likely an US/TZ player.
Lets see how close I come?
Not very. US TZ here. I support lack of action, big time. But, whatever you got to do to keep your stereotype alive. You might want to consider that most Americans like a small government and Europeans like a large government.. copiche? lols
