I read on MMORPG.com some statistics, and it says the oldest EVE player is 76 years old. Interesting topic, and congrats to the player. ___________________________________

Yeah, we older players dread the onset of incontinence, especially during long fleet ops ------------------------------------------------ You either need a punch up the throat or a good shag.

Actually the oldest player in eve is the CEO of TOG (The Older Gamers)Corp. Crotador, by our best guess is about 83.

Although the player could be a zombie. It is hard to tell past a certain age...

Guys, 76 isn't "old old" these days. 85+ is "old old". 70+ is oldish. 60+ is late middle age. There's less of a generation gap between my generation (30+) and the next generation (teen+), much less. I play games with my teenage nephews, go to concerts with them, enjoy the same music (well similar anyway), comedians, movies, stuff like that. The only thing that is defo generational is the fascination with X Factor and Big Brother. I can't stand it. They love it.
Anyway my point is, stop the incontinence jokes and give this guy a cookie, whoever he is, for getting down with the kids. Oh and not yet having arthritis in his hands.

The fact that you wrote "defo" instead of actually tying the whole word - definitely - confirms the shrinking generational gap. That being said, I'm 39, and don't consider myself old, BUT, I'm STILL refusing to type like a teenager.

Being a pedant or grammar **** isn't correlated with age. It's correlated with frontal lobe damage.

That's actually fairly cool. I won't make any jokes about elderly people, even though I'm on the other side of the age range - I'm young enough not to have left school yet.
Oh, and I can't stand Big Brother and X-Factor neither. -----

So, you're saying speaking/typing correctly, in whatever language it is that's native to you, is a result of brain damage?
I'll take that as a compliment. Thank you.
Back on topic. I've come across many players much older than me in this game, and others. I think it's cool...good for them.

I agree, typing defo doesn't make you seem younger, only stupid, or is that stupo?

Incontinence isn't the big problem for us old foggies ... It's staying awake. I've actually fallen asleep during gate camps and missions.
It would be really great if we had an audible alarm that can be set to go off when a red appears in local, your shields get below 50%, or combat probes show up on scanner (of course, an auto-repeat scan function would be needed). Then I can get some proper sleep in my pod.

Done that several times myself, usually down to caffine crash after staying up for 18+ hours and then venturing into 0.0 or doing a long level 4. I would estimate its cost me around 250mil + in lost ships over the years ive been playing. Now i station up as soon as it starts to get hard to keep my eyes open

I actually was just talking about this the other day, would be nice indeed, but may be too game breaking.

That isn't what I said. I'm suggesting that to take a point and criticise the grammar and/or spelling is, (1) holding yourself a hostage to fortune, (2) not to the point and (3) trolling.

Configurable shield/armour/hull alarms are on the test server right now. As for when a red appears, well there was a program to do that a while back before CCP gave it the boot to the head.

So, how does that work then? And what use are they? If you can put it into context, that would be great.

For your viewing pleasure..
Slide the doohickey around until you find a sweet spot. When your shields/armor/structure are reduced to the specified amounts a klaxon goes off telling you that you've hit the requested point.
Hopefully by then you've done something about it :P

Well I didnt hear it before on tranq so maybe from dominion when your shields drop below 20% or something they give a warning sound same with armor/struct. ______________________ I am just a crazy cow |
