There's less of a generation gap between my generation (30+) and the next generation (teen+), much less. I play games with my teenage nephews, go to concerts with them, enjoy the same music (well similar anyway), comedians, movies, stuff like that. The only thing that is defo generational is the fascination with X Factor and Big Brother. I can't stand it. They love it. Anyway my point is, stop the incontinence jokes and give this guy a cookie, whoever he is, for getting down with the kids. Oh and not yet having arthritis in his hands.

I've come across many players much older than me in this game, and others. I think it's cool...good for them.

Done that several times myself, usually down to caffine crash after staying up for 18+ hours and then venturing into 0.0 or doing a long level 4. Configurable shield/armour/hull alarms are on the test server right now. As for when a red appears, well there was a program to do that a while back before CCP gave it the boot to the head.

When your shields/armor/structure are reduced to the specified amounts a klaxon goes off telling you that you've hit the requested point. Pfft, Fail , ^this 0/ 7o xxx-peen ...well can't grab any others. Pwn ?(I know, I'm a Square, that's so over like Groovy or something) I thought l33t was pretty funny and creative but I guess it really strikes a nerve with some people. I wish more non gamers knew what doing a Leroy Jenkins was or that it wasn't going out. I can't think of simpler way of expressing that complex concept . I'm drawing a blank on other expressions that came from things like fictional characters but there are some that are hundreds of years old that you'd never know came that way. Fun to take in some new vernacular... keeps you young and I sort of love new ways of expression seeping in and out of the language. Some good ones stick, ("hip" is a good word hard to express any other way that came from jazz culture slang via slave words via an african language word hep-cat which was some sort of compliment or something not too close to the current meaning). Enough ramble... I'm all for older players at least trying to adapt the current lingo even if we get it all wrong.
