Simple way to avoid ninja's, is to use your ship scanner, set distance to 600000000 and deselect use active overview settings on ship scanner, and scan every few minutes.
Things to watch for,
Combat scanner probes of course :)
Plus scroll down and check for sister combat scanner probes also.
Once you pick up some probes on scanner warp out...I havEnt had a ninja in my missions in months using this method

the whole 'ninja' (stupid name for bored people it seems, but nevermind) issue isnt even worth the time needed to type this stuff. ive had guests TWICE (!) in a system with average local around 100 (!) and BOTH of them ignored the wrecks after simple words: "everything Yours'. pffft. its probably becouse i can count, ie: time needed to gather/salvage = time of another mission (assuming not-marauder). with t2 bs problem is literally gone. so that leaves us with tons of whining people that either:
1 cant add 2 & 2 2 waste 1-1,5h on simple mission couse of being underskilled
but once again ill say: every player waisting time on such stupid activity like stealing wrecks/playing 0.1 isk games etc should get a life. really.

I've tasted so many ninja tears doing this, and it never gets old!
I think you'll find in this case that the ninja guy is laughing at you just as hard as you're laughing at him :)
Ahhhh no...... They always convoy me, and ***** about how the wreck is just as much theirs as it is mine lol. Then they use all kinds of noob tactics to get me to engage them, but I just keep shooting wrecks and taste even more tears...yummy
Haha sure buddy, keep running missions until an experienced ninja finds you. You pop wrecks, you waste ammo. When people pop wrecks on me, I get their hull id and ship type. Let's just say that they don't make any more on salvage while I'm online.
Make sure it's in a CNR, those are good against ninjas, and faction mods are sure to show us.
Easy there fella you seem like your about to cry here's a tissue. Back on topic. Yeah those tards do get quite upset whenever I ruin their fun, but hey its all part of the game right? I really don't need the isk from the wreck so destroying them is of no consequence to me. Any time you get hold of my license plate please feel free to look me up, I'll be the one blowing up wrecks and scooping up ninja tears

Ah, nice.
It's all about competition, you know. And as you may play different games with the same one ball (or two), you may also compete very differently on missions - either from the point of the mission runner or from the point of the ninja. Just happen to care about what CCP Prism X says about it here. I just wonder: where are the cheerleaders?
Am starting to enjoy this thread, although we get heavily OT; but the original question about the Tengu was answered already, wasn't it?

Salvaging your own missions is about as exciting as ice mining.
Isn't it way more fun when you suddenly have to compete to get those goodies? And also, you can simply leave the salvage to the ninja and move on to the next mission, grabbing lots of bounties and LP along the way.
In fact I see them as helping me help my self by not feeling I have to salvage every last wreck, including the one 98km away from every other one, wasting my own time in the process.
*Edit
Why dont you make an arrangement with the ninjas, they pay you a fee, say 25% of what they expect to make from salvaging an L4 mission, and you simply invite them to fleet when you get started on an l4, this way, you both win!

Real ninjas don't ask. Just like we don't ask to undock, fit a mod, jump a warp gate, etc. We just do it. Asking permission implies ownership when in fact, no one owns those wrecks.
Shooting wrecks is fun, that makes it easier for us to decide where to fly next. Go for the ones with the loot. It's not like we don't have 3 or 4 other missions bookmarked that we can run over to after the 5 minute LOL of watching Carebear Butt Hurt/Man Rage explode all over their own mission. Priceless.
@ the OP, Congrats on your wise move toward the Tengu. It will make it more difficult for us to find you, but you won't be immune to Kahega, Maddock, and others who have been at it for a while. Wolves feed on the weak, sickly, and in this case, uniformed or ill-prepared.

Rage much?
It's not that I think I'm awesome, it's that I can scan down and salvage a site in 5-10min. If I loot as well, which I usually do as most of you guys are far too scared of loosing you're billion isk ship to my mighty imicus, then I can make 20mil in almost no time at all.
Where as if I were to run my own missions it'd take longer, also, I don't want to do highsec missions as they're dull :P
I hear there aren't any ninja salvagers in venal, you should go there.
edit: Oooo, I do like it when missions runners pop wrecks and then pop the mission objective by mistake. That's made me chuckle more than once

Originally by: Tippia 1. Avoid mission hubs. 2. Don't fly a BS ù they're very easy to scan down. 3. Definitely don't fly a Marauder ù they're hillariously easy to scan down, and you're just screaming "mission runner". 4. Salvage as you go.
You don't particularly need a T3 ship to avoid getting scanned ù just something that's smaller/stronger than a battleship, and the ninjas are more likely to go after those 100% hits they get on the first try than wasting time finding your 30% hit.
Difference between ship without salvage rigs and dedicated salvaging ship with rigs and implants is massive ISK wise...
And yes, avoid mission hubs. Drop quality few units and you probably have nice quite system wich is enough far away from lazy ninjas

What would you pay to get at this: Angel Extravaganza
What about this: Break Their Will (Angel)
Could you just scan me down? Possibly...I do finish these pretty fast, and could pop the wrecks just as quickly. But, this sounds like a potential mutually beneficial arrangement.

Break Their Will seems very "meh".
AE is good, but is common enough. Keep in mind it takes <3 minutes for a good scanner to probe down a hit.
Some newer ninjas may be interested, though...especially if you let them loot when they normally wouldn't.

I don't know, I think most new Ninjas would probably hit you up for an Angel mission for a 50:50 split. Honestly, it really is a shame that more MRs don't realize how much time they could save (and be on to the next mission) by simply turning over those responsibilities to the fast guys in the frigates. Hell, I've even painted targets for MRs just for the fun of it. The vast majority of noobie ninjas aren't in it for the griefing; it's the money. Simple as that.

I move to rebrand "Ninjas" to "Space Gippo's" immediately.
Someone who travels around taking other peoples scrap in order to make a few quid, ninja my left nut, intergalactic pikey more like.
Funny to see how people talk about there salvaging adventures and "Carebear Tears" as if they are somehow doing something hardcore.
Ninja salvaging in highsec is without doubt the most risk free, carebear activity in Eve.
