i can use Aura, yes, but it's pretty clunky to use, and i'd prefer it to be an application at best.

This is now a choose your own adventure.
Page 1. What you're looking for does not currently exist. If you choose to create your own software to fulfill your need, turn to page 4 If you choose to give up an take a clunky option with your iPhone, turn to page 3 If you choose to ask for someone else to write software to fulfill your need, turn to page 5 This is EVE. -á Everybody Versus Everybody. |

You have chosen page 4.
You have selected the Way of the Hero.
If you have significant programming and database experience, turn to page 10 If you do not, turn to page 11 If you do not have unlimited free time, regardless of the above, turn to page 12 This is EVE. -á Everybody Versus Everybody. |

You have chosen PaperCut. The book runs red in your blood.
Page 12 You do not have unlimited free time. Estimated date of product delivery; June 2015.
Page 11 You do not have the experience to do this project on time or on budget, you learn the equivalent of a 4 year CS degree in 6, but in the process you go insane and are committed, having never finished the project.
Real advice, try a spreadsheet for a subset of the skill system first. Skip dealing with any sort of queue optimization and just focus on being able to find accurate training times of a varied skill queue with user definable mappings. It's going to be ugly and hard to work with.
IFF you enjoyed doing this, go to the next step.
Next step, refine and expand the spreadsheet. Focus on making it easier to work with and more complete.
Once you have it complete and relatively easy to work with, make it look decent.
Somewhere above here, add an API pull. This will require learning about EvE's API system in depth.
Now, park everything you learned on a shelf, because you need to learn how to write code (you've done a TON of programming in the above steps with excel). Pick a language (get advice on which, and you may be limited due to your work computers).
Now, take that learning off the shelf, and build a program that uses the data in a similar way to the excel sheet you made. Only at this point will you likely be able to do queue optimization.
Then, learn to build GUIs and make one for your program. (Optional but Recommended: Release to Public)
Finally, maintain your program as people find bugs and EvE's database changes. This is EVE. -á Everybody Versus Everybody. |

Or wait till Windows 8 gets released and persuade your admin to buy you a license and install it on your machine or make the company buy new HW with Win8 pre-installed.
Why? Cause Windows 8 has .NET 4 as default and EVEMon runs installation free. |

If youve got an iPad you can use EVEuniverse. You can import your skill plans from evemon to it for review. This functionality would be greatly improved if your office had either WIFI or you had 3g as you would have full access to the skill planner and market etc....
Probably not what you were looking for, but I thought I would throw it out there. |

Wingmate wrote:subject says it all. i can't install evemon on my work systep thanks to no .NET installation or something similar. eft works fine, in comparison, thanks to basically no install program or registry keys required. anyone know of a program that allows for skill planning? implants and remapping a plus.
No .NET installation, but can you install a VM? Because you can install .NET inside the VM and use it there :). Your sysadmin should know what to do! |

paper and pen doesn't allow me to fiddle with attributes and implants.
i probably can use a VM, but that's a really, really complex way of doing this. i'll stick with aura for the time being and fotz with making my own, whether through an excel sheet or otherwise. |

Can you use Java at work? I know TightVNC lets you host a server that you can access in your browser. You could probably even configure it to run on port 80. |

Sure it does. It's just harder. With Excel, it's a little easier, since you can let it do the math for you, but it's possible to do it with paper and pen (a calculator might be handy, though). -RubyPorto
