PL pretty much only managed to catch PL's own BS group (~50 of them) along with the IT one (~100). I think they clipped 6 SoT in the process.
Goons have had time to get smarter about letting PL Titans near them and didn't get plowed. We similarly kept our distance because we know PL believes every killmail is a good killmail :P

It was actually just a panic move. There was 100 dreads sitting on PL titan. Shamis ended up getting doomsdayed as well, meaning even their FC's didn't have time to react. The 100 DD'd IT bs you mentioned are nowhere to be found on PL killboard.

Hey, had we lost the fight, we wouldn't have held the field, you wouldn't be saving CH cap fleet from a dead POS, CH wouldn't have lost 3 moons and bunch of carriers, and PNQ wouldn't have gotten invaded.
We did lose the cap engagement 120 to 70, congrats on that

Arn't the numbers irrelevant in determining who 'won'?
PL and Co's objective was obviously to stop any further IT progress. IT made progress even though they lost more caps than PL and Co.
Surely the determining factor as to who "won" is whose objectives were completed and whose were not. Excuse me if that is a little simplistic but you lot are the ones saying 120 > 70 therefore PL & co > IT.
In the Vietnam War the US and allies killed more than 3 times the number of Vietnamese than they lost themselves but i dont hear anyone saying the US won that war.

Our caps were sitting in lowsec when IT started logging back in (They ctl-q'd all their caps to try to save them they have no honouur).
We didn't care about the CH POS. We were just there to kill caps.
And oh boy, we killed some caps.

Originally by: Cold Gorilla There is a reason why viper used our killboard and raw numbers to make his point. It shows our losses from PL DD's, but it doesn't show your conventional fleet that was bridged in and then immediately blown up by another PL DD to save the titan. This skews raw numbers considerably. You will also notice that IT guys talked about cap count.
Wrong, I only used intel reports for numbers assessments. My report wasn't posted in this thread, the following is it:
So, today was fun.
IT reinforced a bunch of posses in syndicate, thankfully all were timed well enough to come out in US TZ. Here's a list:
21.11.2009 03:10 PL - D5IW-F 21.11.2009 03:15 Cry Havoc - IIRH-G 21.11.2009 03:55 PL - D5IW-F 21.11.2009 04:29 Cry Havoc - 3-INOV 21.11.2009 04:34 SOT - 0T-AMZ 21.11.2009 05:45 Cry Havoc - F67E-Q
The night started in IIRH. Cry Havoc had an r64 there, it came out slightly after the PL tower in D5I. About 300 IT came, nuked it and stuck around while a second PL tower came out. Both PL towers were saved without incident.
IT then moved to 3-I to kill another CH tower. At this point CH had about 50 (BS/support) in fleet, PL+SoT had ~150 (BS/support, 30 capitals, between 5 and 10 titans) and IT had somewhere around 300 (roughly 200 BS/support, 100 capitals). IT bridge into 3-I, we notice they're not aligned to anything specific, time to DD.
We light two cynos, titans straight on top of the hostiles and BS at the closest planet. DD snags a few, one of our titans gets tackled, BS come back in. Our BS come back in, everyone at this point is bubbled, including our titan. Another cyno up, IT capitals start arriving.
http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/4558/3isupport.jpg
Fourth cyno goes up, three more PL titans come through and DD the grid. All hostile and friendly support is now gone. All titans warp out. After a few minutes of dumb****ery (mostly because we killed all of the cynos in our fleet) we manage to get another cyno in system and on top of the hostile dreads. It goes up, PL + Goon capitals jump in. I'd guess we were pretty heavily outnumbered at this point.
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/8529/3isupport2.jpg http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/752/3icaps1.jpg
Capfight goes on for a while, CH jump in for us as well as the PL support fleet who had all reshipped to dreads. IT pilots return in new dreads, and carriers for those who didn't have a spare. PL pilots continue to return in new dreads as theirs die. Towards the end of the fight the NC made a showing with a few capitals as well. IT ends the fight by calling a logout, by that time both sides were out of stront anyway and goons probably would have done the same thing if roles were reversed.
http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/1037/3icaps2.jpg http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/8207/3icaps4.jpg
As for losses, well, I won't go too much into it.
PL API shows 23 losses currently, I doubt it will go over 25, also shows somewhere around 80 kills right now, I'm quite sure that'll keep rising.
Edit: CH is losing a capfleet to IT right now. x2: Updated with screenshots.
-----------
Also, you (IT in general) keep referring to a DD where we killed our entire support fleet. I'm not sure why you think this is a huge deal. It was a tactical decision to sacrifice several of our BS and not only kill your entire BS fleet (which it did to a large degree) but get our dread mains who were stuck in BS back to our staging system once we saw your caps come in. I have no idea why you guys brought capitals in when you had one of our titans tackled, it had to be obvious that we had several supporting it and that you wouldn't be able to keep tackle.
In the end, we traded ~70 dreads, 4 carriers and 3 r64s (which we don't consider to be nearly as worthwhile as you do, I won't speculate on the supposed payout of these moons as we really don't know their worth yet) for ~120 capitals. We're happy with the trade, you seem happy with the trade.

I find it interesting all this discusion about who lost and who won... Obviously PL and friends thought the moons inportant enough to risk 5 (or was it 6) titans to clear an IT fleet.
In the end IT lost 120 caps (roughly 96000 million or 96 billion) whith most of them insured --->no loss The only loss are the mods which, looking at the killboards, are not fantastic on either side so not a biggie here
In the end IT held the moon which even on expected dominion prices will still generate an insane ammount of isk.
So who won the engagement depends on the stated objectives. Is ITs objectives were to take the moon, then they won. If GOONS and Friends objectives were to have fun then they won too. By the way a Pyrrhic victory only hapens when the losses are so devastating that you cannot recover from them. Because the insurance and the use of not very special mods the loses on both sides were non consequential and easily replaceable.
PL and Co and IT ..... Thank you for making eve interesting again

If you need to explain everyone over and over why it was such a devastating blow, it can't be that bad really, can it?
If it would be such a big deal, no explanations at all would be necessary. Just sayin'.... |
