Am I reading this correctly? If I have a standing of -2.0 with a faction or corporation, the agents of level one and negative quality are now available in post Dominion eve? I know it has always been my concern doing kill missions that I would be forever punished for killing ships of rival factions so I have avoided them.
Quote: It is now impossible for players to never have access to agents. Level 1 agents, up to Quality 0, will be available to all players regardless of their faction, corporation, or personal standing with the agent. This does not affect Research Agents or access to the character location service offered by some agents, they maintain their high standards. http://www.eveonline.com/updates/patchnotes.asp

That's how I read it too. That would mean it will always be possible to climb out of a bad standing hole. However, it won't be quick; you'll be limited to using level 1 agents of quality zero or lower until you raise standings. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Until you get 0.01 or greater with the faction. Then you can use any corp you have standing with.
So, go grind 4 corps, one from each empire. When you fall into a hole, grind up to or pass 0.01 with the faction, then use the lvl4 agents you previously unlocked. Moving in negative when positive, or moving positive when negative is always super fast, so maybe one or two storylines, and bam, sorted :)
This is of course if bad faction overrides a positive corp, if not, you could aways run their missions,....
;) Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P

Earlier in the thread, some of you voiced your concern that you'd like to join Faction Warfare, but were afraid of doing so because you'd ruin your standings with another faction permanently.
Our decision to allow players to use some level 1 agents, regardless of standings, is a direct product of that feedback.
Thanks for the feedback
The above was in the tax feedback thread- but the new change is great in a lot of ways. FW becomes feasible to try, fixing tanked standinds wont be easy- but will be possible at least.

Thanks for posting that Future. This is a change I welcome. As you say, if your standings are really bad and social skills doesn't help, it is going to be a long process to raise it but at least it is possible. It does add grind but that is the price one pays for killing faction ships.

That is awesome. Grind... yes, but at least its finally possible to recoup standing lost to my youthful indiscretion

I believe you only have to get your faction standing to -2.0 or greater with skills in order to do missions for corps/agents you have standings with.

This great, perhaps people can do the faction missions more. However, nice you can access a L1 agent, but if you're red (shoot on sight) then that won't help you so much. Or am i missing something here?

Edited by: Klatu Nictu on 30/11/2009 11:35:29 I hope all of you are correct. Since InterBus is a false hope(still no storyline agents or place to spend LP's) this would make standing fix possible.

NPCs won't shoot you in a pod. So you can happily collect combat missions and warp your friends to the mission site to clear the mission for you. Alternately you can pick up courier missions and contract the hauling out to someone else.
Painful, yes? But I've done it myself, so you can benefit from my experience!

Corporations do not only have offices in the region of the factions they belong to, but spread out in other regions as well. You don't nessecerly have to enter caldari/armarr/gallente/minni space to find a particular faction onriented agent.

if you are red to empire faction, you have probably been around for long enough to fit frigate/destroyer more than capable to evade said faction. it shouldn't be more than minor annoyance.

Oh you mean that minor annoyance that will neut you dry and deal 1k DPS in 1.0 systems?
If you are KOS to an empire you better run those level 1 agents in lowsec until you can enter highsec.

Yup!
Keep in mind also that the upcoming pirate epic arcs also have a standings "redemption" mechanic that can take you from -10.00 to 0.00 - which cuts out a lot of Level 1 missions!
Empire standings are a bit more significant in gameplay terms than pirate ones (Faction navies, for example) so for the foreseeable future, the only additions to this would be more pirate epic arcs to redeem yourself with the other factions missed in the first batch.

wtf happened CCP :''(
btw as an addition to this new feature [sheds another tear] are the L1 negative quality agents being better distibuted ? in that L1 negative ama.. [sorry i just cant stop crying] agents are available in minmatar space ?
also will the standings gains from storylines still give you massive derived hits should you choose to work for the hoodie brigade etc.
on a final note negative standings are now pretty much totally irrelevent are there any plans to adress this or are we eternally stuck on hello kitty world [more tears] you know you guys could have added a pure factional set of agents OUTSIDE FW for those who want to play the standings game . . which you have now made totally pointless

Yes - you're missing the fact that you can mission level 1s in low sec without problems from Faction Navys. And if you die to local player pirates in a small level-1-mission-running-ship in no-bubble-land then well, with the greatest respect - learn to play Eve :) .

from -10.0 to 0.00??? thats not 36% faction increase thats more liek 50% correct me if i am wrong but would not a faction increase of 36% take you from -10.0 to -3.x ish? which in it self is more than enough to start running missions. I can supply Custom made corps or faction standings. |

i believe its a 36% base faction increase. so 36% off your base then add on diplomacy/connections/criminal connections etc

It's not on the table as far as I've heard, but at the same time I wouldn't want to rule out a shuffle of agents as part of some change to missions in general. *wipes some more tears away and stores them as fuel for his Jovian RocketShip*
More seriously, I'd like to hear what you mean by "better distributed", what do you see as the current issue?
Quote: also will the standings gains from storylines still give you massive derived hits should you choose to work for the hoodie brigade etc.
Standings gains from storylines haven't been touched. They provide the consequence, as it were, for choosing a side. Personally, I'm not sure we should change this.
Quote: on a final note negative standings are now pretty much totally irrelevent
I have to disagree there, myself. I'll readily admit that my own first impressions were that it was a fairly big change, but then I considered what it would take to move beyond those agents, and realized a lot of work lay ahead running missions to redeem yourself (fix your faction standings). What we'd changed was that this was now actually possible, whereas previously it was simply...not. This is good, no?

Perhaps the distribution comment is related to which empire controls the system that the agents are in (eg if you want to run a low quality Amarr agent, you might have to enter Amarr space to do so - where you are KOS vs doing a low quality Amarr agent located in Minmatar space - where you aren't KOS)

Interesting change and good one in my opinion as it gives reason to exsist to those neg quality L1 agents. Keep in mind that every major faction already has 3 deep negative quality L2 agents deep in low sec that will talk to anyone above -2. So if you have managed to bury yourself real deep (lets say -8) you can now grind yourself up to above -2 without having to do Sisters of EVE hauling missions till you go blue and quit fustrated.
As pointed out it is still considerable amount of work and all but fast trip to heaven. And it should make possible to redeem any faction standings now as opposed to the previous case of unrecoverable pirate faction hole.

NO !
its a very interesting change and now there should be less posts about standing reversal. However; standings have played HUGE part of the game for a very very long time. There has ALWAYS been a consequence for your actions and the side that you had chosen.
Good standings gained you "free" faction ship BPC's and better refine rates in a station and thats pretty much about it. underwhelming and the reward for going ballz deep for your faction was never really rewarded.
NEGATIVE standings cut you off from an entire faction and got you KOS to that empire. that impact was massive and the effect rippled out considerably.
now you can take a L1 mission for anyone the consequence of your actions is completely removed. I managed to push my amarr to almost -10 base and while it totally destroyed alot of gameplay it forced me to realise how much of the content was always available to me anyway and my eyes were opened and tbvfh it enriched the universe more (my perspective)
with this new mechanic you can effectivly go +10 to every empire at any point you choose and change sides, do all COSMOS, go anywhere, do anything. i know someone who got cut off from his R&D agent and it made both of us laugh but we understood the consequence of getting all of your cake and eating it.
Empire has become a huge sticking point and the divide between 0.0/low sec/high sec is causeing more and more friction and this new mechanc gives the carebear side another reward. so empire is all reward with no loss :/
its good to give people something to redeem themselves but its totally against the backstory and has little to no logic.. using the derived method which was insanely difficult to redeem yourself through but it was possible. now its so easy it devalues the system.
i DO like it for pirates as they are common criminals and should always allow anyone to work for them the pirate standings have always confused me to an extent because of the whole kill in belt but work in station mechanics but i digress . ..
as to the distribution of agents . . . the above poster is correct in her assumption(s) because the agents are primarily within borders the ability to redeem is restricted. i took a snapshot off eve-agents and got :
Heimater, Amarr, L1
8x Agents Total L1 Q0 and below 6x high sec - 4x Tryteldad 2x low sec - BOTH Amamake
thats not alot and thats not distributed across the region. so you have a limited mechanic and will most likley drive the traitors into tryteldad as you can easily ***** multiple L1 agents especially as those are the command/intel agents and the others being more courier based ones.
on a final note with access to the l1 agents ONLY and ergo L1 storyline agents im wondering why your giving people access to them and not giving them a chance to go up the ladder within those specific corps as you will need to live with l1 agent untill you get -2 and above which seems a little odd and undervalues this new mechanic

Surely you understand that you could have done this before right? The only exception was the Gurista/Blood/Sansha trio (which btw was also fixed with the introduction of the new Gurista epic arc).
They have definitely made it easier, but you were not completely cut off from Amarr before.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

yes, and i mentioned it previously in this thread and i have posted continually that its possible and i have continually been on the side that likes being gimped.
my personal route back was via khanid
they have made it too easy now and their previous comments that it would be possible but hard are now its possible and easy, but time consuming.

Edited by: Vikarion on 02/12/2009 11:06:01 Thank you, CCP. I'm now off to grind in 0.0.
As for you nay-sayers, I think you prove that, no matter how bad something is, someone will complain about it being changed for the better.
It's remarkably easy to get yourself cut-off from a faction, especially the pirate factions, and, without this mechanic, it was possible to eventually lose standings with all but two empires, effectively cutting yourself off from nearly all the agents and RP possibilities in the game.
In any sandbox, permanent barriers are not good. They constrict players from enjoying all parts of the game. If you enjoy being limited to one faction for the rest of your Eve career, good for you. But don't try to make the rest of us - the vast majority, I'll note - live by your personal rules of enjoyment.
Incidentally, this should get more people out to 0.0, because the factions that were most difficult (or impossible) to recover from were the pirate ones. Empire factions were, and always have been, relatively easy to recover.

considering the work involved imo it doesn't make a lot of difference. You had to grind before, you have to grind now to come out a hole.
Anyway, the way i see it this unlocks a whole bunch of content and make mission running more diverse as i can do the faction missions again. Thank you CCP!
