Most -- well, all -- of the .01 isk threads I've read on MD moan about ".01 isk games," but no one ever talks about the games. I'll kick this discussion off with a list of my favorites:
THE SANDWICH Surround your opponent's order with two of your own to circumvent the 5 minute timer.
THE DOUBLE, TRIPLE, ... DECKER Same as above but increasingly complex.
EIGHTS AND NINES Long strings of eights and nines are hard to follow in Eve font.
THE DOUBLE DIGIT FEINT Alter both the ".01" region and some random number preceding to throw them off...changing a 9 to an 8 (or vice versa when buying) is especially effective.
BLIZZARD OF ONES Spam so many low quantity ("quantity 1") sell orders that it's annoying to wade through them.

My personal favorite is the "double digit feint". I throw it in every once in a while to make sure my competition is on the ball. However, lately I've been doing the 1.00 isk game. I don't really care to deal with the .00 anymore because I feel it's a waste to type in the extra digits if it's all the same.

TBH I rarely bother with these games, if I find my competition is very active I might set up a sandwich, other than that I just CBA :P

Yeah, but be warned If you scroll while the market is loading it lags away and drops the order a much larger amount of isk

I like spoofing their orders. A lot of people will post orders that all end with the same .xx price. Outbid them (games with 8s and 9s are good) and use the same suffix. If you can get close to matching on quantity and duration, so much the better.

I think one of the most important tricks is to get a feel for how often they're checking. If you're bumping right after them, then they get no sales at all. People get discouraged and quit much faster this way.
As an aside, I've been 89d, but no one has multi-ordered me, which is weird because it's so effective.

That pretty much sums up market pvp. Also applies to the whole thought process behind "outbid, hold, or buyout?" that everyone has to make as they analyze their positions.

To be fair, the eights and nines thing is often not so much an attempt to abuse the font, but rather reverse penny isking on a sell order. I only rarely see it on buy orders.
Here's one for the list:
THE LOGOFFSKI: Put the trader in your address book, wait till they log off, then .01 all your shared positions.
THE LOGOFFSKI REVERSED: Using a trading alt, place the competitor in your address book on the alt, update the order on your main, and log off. Wait for the competitor to .01 isk and log. Now log your original toon back on, and win the position.

Hmmm........ well the new traders only weapon is to inflict tedium on his opponent by constantly updating orders.
The experienced trader fights this stratagem by simply destroying the margin while still making a profit. Ofc you need AccountingV Broker RelationsV and lots of mission running for this to work. This ofc is why you see so many 'omg why is this guy crashing the market' whine threads

I don't like .01 ISK games. So it's more or less 1000 ISK games, but the principle stay the same. The items price just crash faster. Good for the customer, that's what I think. Not for other traders though.

I hate it when I fall for that one.

THE RAGE lower (or increase) your order by 10% or more
THE FAKE RAGE: do the rage with intention to either buy your competition low to resell it higher or make your competition buy your order for a faster turnaround

My favorite is to set my sell order for .01 ISK higher than the highest buy so that the guy chasing me clears his order when he updates. Then I can set my sell back to what I wanted it at.

Whats even funnier is when you do that and for the next hour or so you still see orders going 0.01 lower but at the higher rate. Always makes me wonder if it's people getting ready for my orders to be bought out or if it is a bot.

I've thought about sitting responsive to every slight eddy in the market, insuring that my stuff will be the first to sell regardless.
Then I remember sell Orders last 3 months and I'd really rather have the 0.01 ISK...

0.01 isk games are just irritating... I put out my 50 orders as they are and wait till they sell... Finally the 0.01-ers get bought out or something and I sell my products... I personally think there should be a cap of let say 1% value differance, so you put an order equal to the cheapest / most expensive (depends if you sell or buy) or you have to put the order at the same price... And if you change price, it can't be for less than 1% value.
I hate these idiotic 0. games... Waste of time of people who don't spend their lives in jita, just want to sell at a decent price...

The worst kind of trader is the one that doesnt play it and crashes the market by selling for like 1m cheaper than current sell order, the worst part is that a lot of people just continue the 0.01 isk game after his 1m jump so he just crashed the market for nothing because most people will continue to play undercutting games with him

Do that all the time and has worked great.... at running off the competition. Seldom do they come back. And I can then make the profit I want!

I usually retype the highest buy/lowest sell price in +/- .01 ISK so I don't fall for people who try to change other digits. It gives me typing and math practice.
I'm also too lazy to play the .01 isk game seriously. I log update my prices a few times a week, if it doesn't sell I wont even notice, the place I trade in is too low volume to warrant any more effort.

TROFEE HUNT
To be played with at least 2 others. You are only allowed to update by 0.01, but you are free to pass your turn whenever you want and let the others update against eachother. Now try to be the first to reach special combinations of last 4 or more digits. (12.34 , 66.66 , 543.21 , 101.01 , etc etc) without skipping a 0.01

PERFECT TIMING
Find active 0.01 market. Try to understand the update-patterns of opponents, are there any that update every 5 or 10 or x minutes by specific amount ? Now try to make a 0.01 update just one second before your opponent. Watch as your order is not in top of list because it was only fresh for a second, yet still ranks in all the sells/buys because your opponent updated to the same amount as you did but didn't even see your order. Keep watching to see what happens 5 minutes later ... did he notice your perfect timed update or does he keep his own order as it is, thinking he is still on top ?
BLIND SHOT
Find active market. Place 0.01 order. Keep following orders for 5+ minutes. Analyse how fast it is going, what isk intervals are used, and how many traders might be involved. Then do not refresh market for x amount of minutes (hide it behind other window if needed). Update your old order, knowing very well that several others have been changed while you were not watching, yet still try to make a perfect 0.01 update. If you hit target, then you have great analyzing skills, yet nobody will ever know because that 0.01 will look like every other 0.01. Still, pat yourself on the back.
