THE "OMG WHY IS THIS GUY CRASHING THE MARKET?"
you notice someone trying to muscle in on your high volume orders. After standard tactics have failed to remove the competition you set your sell to just above, on, or even below standard price. - FOR SALE: HI-SEC RESEARCH POS |

Au contraire! I use them all the time in my particular market niche to great effect. I assume my opponents believe I am two separate sellers. (Note that I operate in high margin, scarce volume markets, so that a competitor "checking" my identity would cost ~50mil. at least.)

Put a low volume sell order just above reprocess value, but where you still lose money due to broker fees and sales tax. (Lower the price in chunks rather than all at once.)
Wait for 2 people to .01 isk you, then hike your price back up to a reasonable price.
It always surprises me every time it actually works.

The worst? Actually i kinda like these guys, just buy their stuff and relist. And even if you don't there probably is a healthy margin left.

I won't get into any "right or wrong" of it.. it is pvp..
but, If you are sharing a market in an item with 2 or 3 people, and you get a pretty good sense that they're going to stick around and its just a matter of game play time who's going to get the orders filed,
You all save each other's time and have an "honor amoung thieves" sort of curesey if you just .01 (or so) up/down with the mouse wheel . The other games waste all of each others time and unless thats fun for you, you're ultimately wasting your own time that could be spent making isk other ways. (the mouse wheel tip is really a time saver.. you still verify the price change always always always if you're smart (you never know when you might have hit another key that took out the decimal or something)

For me the only trading thing I do is buy/haul ships to my home region and sell for a low profit compared to u big guys ( mybe a mill isk per ship in profit). I put the ships up for the best offer at the time but of course I get undercut over the next days but even with 5-10 sell orders agave me I still manage to sell my ships off usually 1 per day. For u big time traders is it that big of an issue to allways be that top guy? I quess just to have that faster turn around?

Haha, I do this a lot, and it's quite funny to watch competitors fall for it. As a bonus you now have a better timer than him, so you can update your price the second he updates his.

This is actually quite fun, you can suck all of the profit entirely out of a market, and fill your trivially small order all at the same time. It's especially fun when you can increase your buy order value by about 5m, and the guy with the bigger order increases his by a value of several hundred million just to keep up. If you're paying enough attention you can often work it until the price is much higher than some other region, dump your stock and go buy there.

Those don't really work because the opponent can just do the same thing.
It depends on how much capital they have, how many orders they have, how many items it is they want to buy, what level of margin trading they have, if they want to spend the isk on broker fees, and if halving their order size means a good chance that one will be entirely filled with one sale/purchase and you will get yours filled with the overflow.
That, plus, despite people being 'able' to do it, most don't.

only if your opponent has enough open orders, so here you just betting that he or she is operating full or close to full

Works nicely as a counter to traders practicing Logoffskis and Reserve Logoffskis who just seem to be always online playing EVE 16/7. When noticing that someone has added you to their addressbook devote some time to ruining the profit margin on whatever it is that they are camping.

Some people are not buying crap items to reprocess them. I used to purchase low meta cheap items for communal corp hangar and it didn't really matter if what I bought stuff at 5K or 15K ISK which was probably above the reprocess value.

I bought around 300 Punishers one day, reprocessed them, sold the minerals "quick-quick" and made around 8mil for my efforts. I also helped solve the argument two folks were having about who could make the least amount of ISK selling ships..
