OP's first post did not match up the current TQ version, hence my remark, and tbh I'm pretty sure the version will change again
Worst thing (speaking from experience) is downloading the "unannounced" patch, applying it, only to have CCP making a new - and since the unannounced one was unannounced there won't be a patch to upgrade that to final -> fresh install needed (unless you saved your folder before you applied the unannounced one).
Each one to their own ofc.

No, the worst thing is downloading an "unannounced" patch and having it delete your boot.ini file.

I remember major issues for 1-2 weeks after Apocrypha was launched... like Jita limited to 300 members
Someone even was negotiating his "jita slot" for isk... the lulz!!!

CCP could you please enable the patch downloader before TQ goes live so we can patch our clients while you deploy to TQ? That would be especially nice to those players on slower connections...

Does this mean that the patch might change or you just don't want us to spam the logon servers trying to get in?
It means you will probably mess up your client and be forced to delete it and download the whole game.

Wouldn't this just mean delaying the server coming up? I'm sure they do actually dove tail these things in and it will be available at the most suitable time...

I think everyone should just download latest patch wherever you can find it. Install that sucker and keep spamming logins to see if you can be the first person to play dominion on TQ! Go for it mate! Oh and if something about boot.ini comes up, don't worry about it. It just means you're the super special one for getting the early, special edition patch. Only losers wait till 21:00 as per CCP's announced time, trust me on that. Waiting is for losers anyway.

I'm pretty sure they'll let us download the patch at least an hour before TQ opens to the public, it would be unwise leaving it till the last minute so thousands upon thousands of people have to download the patch at the same time - the download servers probably wouldn't cope with it and you'd have lots of people complaining of either getting very bad download speeds or not being able to download the patch at all.

Isn't that just what the repair tool is for to prevent?

The TQ build doesn't have a repair tool for some reason.

Edited by: Ronbo Tex on 01/12/2009 16:29:04 So then its implemented as patch to the existing game client that is "officially" accessible from the login page or somewhere else?
So it does not require a new client download. Just wondering as I have only been playing for a month and this is first expansion.

Wrangler, what do you think your doing reading and replying to this thread? Go and push the patch in faster or whip the hamsters more or whatever it is they are doing (I'm not an IT person).

It will be automatically downloaded when you run the client again after the server is officially up.

Everywhere I read said 19 hours for patch....so why are you all here complaining and all about something that wont be done til its done? Relax, the patch will be done, spend some time with your kids, loved ones or another game til its officially ready. Griping wont make it any faster. In the end it will all come down to he who has the most toys....wins |

That happened to me, very unhappy trying to get my computer working again. It wasn't an "unannounced" patch though, it was the patch they first put up in the EVE client. I'm not downloading any CCP patch again until I see how it messes with other peoples' computers.

im hoping the patch goes out about 1900 if its all ready Signature - CCP what this game needs is more variance in PVE aspects and a little bit less PVP focus, more content more varied level 1-4 missions more than just 10 per faction high sec low sec and 00 |
