I'm a miner, well that and a few other things besides. Don't worry I have no intention of whining, actually I'm quite looking forward to this, not only will I see lots of macro miners get planked but also those unfriendly buggers who never say a single word when you save them from a npc rat attack.
I must admit I'm quite keen on joining this event in my Catalyst (or 30), may even run with my Rifter, kinda love that lil' ship. Going to keep my eyes on local and maybe you'll see me screaming into battle along side you, guns ablazing.

Just wondering, 'cause I've been away for a while and just came back...a lot of macro-miners (accused/theoretically, don't wanna accuse anyone LOL) gonna be targets for this? Impressive prizes! Sounds like fun will be had by all ->VOLUNTARY<- participants.

A question from a newb... what does it even take to suicide gank? Will any ship do or do I have to spend money on a ship that'll actually make a bit of a "splash" when it splodes? (assuming that self destructing next to someone is how this is done)

you need to do it in numbers really...
its not about spending isk, in fact its quite the opposite.... someone will surely explain the finer points but solo you are talking 8 high slot smartbomb battleships, else you are talking tier 1 bc, gank cruisers or destroyers... theres way too much to go into it in detail but essentially you are wanting an insurable tech I hull that can use cheap modules to cause high damage... someone will help you with the details beyond my basic input here.

Ah ok, I figured I'd just pop myself and cause some damage. Shows how much I know... don't really have a lot of ISK though, pretty poor. So I guess what it comes down to is affording the ship and modules I'd need to be able to participate.
edit: erm, ok you mentioned tech 1, that may actually be in my price range. I'll have to play around with a few things here.

if you are pure caldari you can consider trying this although a catalyst or thrasher is going to do much more damage overall... you should also consider training thermodymamics in order to maximise damage since you only really get to fire off one to five rounds depending on security space... here is a 'bad' cormorant fit, that will probably end up making you isk after getting it concorded... if you are serious about joining in its worth training gallente or minmatar frig up so you can use their destroyers

edit: this isnt a solo fit, just an idea of a simple suicide setup.... you need to gang up for best effect

thanks, i'll take this setup into consideration, although if you say I should train minmitar/gallente then maybe I'll just do that instead. I've a long way to go in regards to getting to using real great ships and stuff, but I want to take part regardless of my skill status.

The idea is to use ships and mods that are so cheap that they will basically be fully covered by insurance but strong enough to put out some DPS before they are popped by CONCORD. Destroyers and battleships are very popular choices. Try using a gank fit Catalyst to solo a Retriever or Industrial ship and you should be relatively successful. Hulks generally take multiple destroyers or a larger vessel to destroy before CONCORD arrives.
