Just a side question, and I don't know if it's been mentioned in this thread already:
Since you are organizing this event and it has now become huge with over 8bil in prizes, will the Jerk Cartel be eligible for the prizes as well, or is that a conflict of interest?

I don't see why not really, if they go and complete an achievement or whatever they can have their prize as far as I'm concerned, though obviously I'm excluding myself from any winnings and I'll probably get chribba to pull a number out a hat for the random jackpot.

Guys what do the ingame rules say about shooting at another player?
Of course if I decide to start shooting at some miner, concord will kill me, but when I start shooting I'll turn red meaning that other players (regardless if I have shot at them or not) will have the rights to start shooting at me as well, isn't that so?
Meaning that not only concord will shoot me - but other players may engage me as well without concord intervening when they do?
Hope I make myself understandable :).

being an alt under steam's awesome deal, I've been mostly training learning skills because who knows if i'll actually use this char in the future, but its time to find my weapon of choice.
Any idea how much more/less effective a group of ruptures is vs thrashers? Not sure if I will bother with canes/pests at this point, I wont be alone.
Whats the average alpha of a thrasher and rupture? EHP of a hulk?

aah, but you fail to see the conundrum! Catching a pod in highsec pretty much requires a smartbomb which will pretty much guarantee you a GCC which turns you into the ganker which means *gone crosseyed*

But to get you to shoot we have to leave a nice big fat weak and uninsurable ship for you to primary first, does not make a lot of sense, can I leave a Bantam out for you instead?

The miners are jumpy. I have started warping into asteroid fields and cloaking just to see the reaction. Mind you I'm a miner and I'm mildly jumpy, that said I only mine like it's fishing, do it for extra cash to fund my new up and coming bad girl pirate, YAY!
Oooo can we add the Magnet pilots too? The ones with 'dfjhgskjdgh' names? They're the ones warping about spamming ISK advertisements - man I'd love to pewpew a few of those!

Of course it does. Consequences only apply to carebears. ANYTHING that might impede the "pirates" (aka wannabe pvp people) is automatically bad. This is the crime and punishment board mate. The only players that matter are the PeeVeePee players, and consequences should never apply to them. After all Eve is a game that ENCOURAGES suicide ganking. Why it's all in the market and game mechanics. There are no consequences for it, therefore it's blessed by CCP.

Initially when this event become evident to me I went and informed the other corp mates about it, the very experienced players who are PvP players in 0.0 and have their alts in this corp explained the tactics to use to prevent being ganked, but suggested that there was no reason to fight.
Another player and I wanted to defend other corp mates who wanted to continue mining, but we were unsure of the mechanics, once we worked it out with the help of players on the forum we realised that no matter what we did we had to give them a free shot or two at a Hulk, even though Concord will be on a countdown as soon as they web and warp scram the Hulk we can only intervene if they have fired at least one round against the Hulk.
So looking at in pure PvP logic and I used the example of Noir against No.Mercy in terms of ISK, ignoring the impact of insurance (which is a subject all of its own) and just concentrate on straight forward ISK it does not make any sense for miners to risk a Hulk, so from that logical point I wanted to make it clear that while I find this fun and adding to the excitement I personally would not place a Hulk in danger, either mine in something more akin to their ISK impact or do something else like missioning and I was looking at ways to fight.
So having made that decision on pure ISK values I was making it clear that by using the mechanics that PvPrs use that anyone slagging off miners for being wimps and carebears ought to think before openning their mouths. If one puts a mining barge out, that can not really be tanked very much and will go pop very quickly, an Exhumer offers more resistence but is too expensive to risk, simple as that.
In terms of the comment made by this player in terms of shooting back, I get a chance to shoot at a few Catalysts before Concord arrives and the Corp may very well lose a Hulk, great fight option that, which is why I suggested we leave a Bantam out for him to play with, I noticed that he did not reply, which is what I would have expected, the logic obviously did not escape him.
Yes I accept it as a bit of fun, no issue, I find those miners getting upset with it a bit much, but when these illogical PvP'rs start sprouting off about miners being cowards when people decide not to mine and they end up only having a few targets then I will give them a healthy dose of contempt, I just have a huge amount of regret that I cannot pre-empt the attack on our Hulks, all I can do is rep the Hulk and it would have to be shields which is not efficient, that is hardly fun fighting at all is it?
