Originally by: Valar CCP Those are some good advices to avoid this bug. The reason for this is that there is a session locking timer that starts counting after a session change to prevent stuck issues. I know its annoying, but its more annoying to be stuck. However this issue has been addressed in Exodus, but will need a bit more work to fix all of the cases mentioned.
Do you realise what you just did?
Expect tons of petitions quoting you
I haven't lost a ship due to this but I very much sympathise those that have... your "feature" is making ppl lose ships and the fact that your support team cannot verify blah blah blah is not making anyone happy either...

Aren't you stuck anyway when you can't jump? Just in a different manner.

So you folks would rather get stuck for a maximum of 23 hours than lose a ship that's 90% insured?

Has anyone ever - ever - been stuck as a result of changing ships in hangar? That to me is the single most irritating and pointless manifestation of the session timer.
(And I wouldn't mind *nearly* as much if there were an onscreen indicator of when it was active.)

Hm. Have to say the "skills not showing completed after completion" one irritates the hell out of me.
(Have accidentally trained one skill twice because of this - though fortunately that was only 12 minutes!)

I got down to 5% hull whilst transporting Zydrine (a fairly pricey lump of it) by rats because of this last week. Had i of lost that ship, and more importantly its cargo, I would of done more than just get bit "cheesed" off!

First of all, what I was/am posting are my opinions. And if I didn't see this as an issue, why would I get it fixed? Do you want CCP not to admit to bug in fear of flood of petitons? Wouldn't that mean any issues that might cause a player to lose a ship would be ignored?
And that you have lost your ship this way can not be proven with server logs. ------ Valar Quality assurance department CCP games |

Spend a week with SOE. There, if they don't like what you've posted, they just ban you from the forums. You talk badly about SOE, you're off the forums. And I'm not joking.
Losing a ship now and then is far better than having hundreds of people stuck like we had in early release and beta, I can't imagine the chaos such stuck situations would cause today. Most of the bugs that have been in the game since early release are still here because they're caused by many different things, even though 90% of the causes may have been fixed there are still more. It sucks, sure, but on a game of this scale it's to be expected.

then improve the things the logs show..... im sure you can add a little lines in the code that watch for season changes in progres in the time a ship is near to the gate. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/Xunecat/xune-sig.jpg |

The thing with more logging is that it increases the load on the server nodes and the database, thus causing lag.. and so many things are session changes. Jump, dock, undock, eject, gang, leave gang, join corp, leave corp, board ship... too many to write up here. If you keep losing ships to this, why not just follow the simple direction listed in this thread? Doing that will prevent this from happening. ------ Valar Quality assurance department CCP games |

Actually I have a question if you don't mind answering it Valar. How come many entries in the log are not displayed? Like if you have 3 guns running usually only one or two hits a volley will actually display, is this just to keep lag down? I assume it'd be easy to get them all to appear, since that damage information has to be sent to the client anyway, but I also know that the log can be very lag intensive, especially when you set it to 10,000 entries in the middle of a fight (lost an Arma npc hunting that way).

We discussed this here some time ago, so I can't remember 100% but, this has something to do with many messages trying to display at once and the ones that are not displayed being discarded from the logs. Does it still happen on Singularity?

@ Jazz Bo, You are wrong, it is NOT 100% avoidable.
I have had it more than once when approaching a gate without using AB or MWD, on autopilot. ___________________________ Chicks dig Brutor's |

Good question Valar, I'm at university right now so I can't log into EVE, but I'll check when I get home (unless someone beats me to it). Would it be possible to have the discarded messages outputted to the .txt file that's generated, even if they don't show up in the log ingame?
