Well if it were a simple matter it would have been fixed long ago, don't you think? Or is CCP keeping stuck characters and ship losses in the game for fun?

You think they wouldn't fix a bug that causes players to get stuck and/or lose their ships, thereby costing them paying customers, if it's been in the game for over a year and requires only a simple fix?

Originally by: Valar CCP First of all, what I was/am posting are my opinions. And if I didn't see this as an issue, why would I get it fixed? Do you want CCP not to admit to bug in fear of flood of petitons? Wouldn't that mean any issues that might cause a player to lose a ship would be ignored?
And that you have lost your ship this way can not be proven with server logs.
CCP knows about it.... but they wont reimburse for it....
utterly lame tbh...

then improve the things the logs show..... im sure you can add a little lines in the code that watch for season changes in progres in the time a ship is near to the gate.
The thing with more logging is that it increases the load on the server nodes and the database, thus causing lag.. and so many things are session changes. Jump, dock, undock, eject, gang, leave gang, join corp, leave corp, board ship... too many to write up here. If you keep losing ships to this, why not just follow the simple direction listed in this thread? Doing that will prevent this from happening.
its not yust the gates. i filled several bug reports as well as petitions, but it seems no one feel this important enough. well i hve to lif with it... but why are ther petitions if they are 99.999% of the time "the locs dont show". look at my last petition becouse its forbiden to post it here. im sure you can. i would be happy for a replay that dont yust say "nop...."

I'm glad to hear that this bug is finally going to be fixed.
..and in response to Jazz and Valar CCP, the bug does happen at other times as well.
Example: Sitting on a gate, get attacked, do not attack back, try and warp out but warp scrambled, then try and jump and the gate screws you over.... and you're dead.
Myself and at least three other members of R-K have lost ships/clones/implants to this... and two of us filed petitions only to be completley ignored by CCP.... the latest guy to die this way didn't bother petitioning because he knew the response (or lack there of) he would have gotten.
CCP are normally far more interested in looking after the majority (carebear) of customers who get stuck in a gate or station or whatever. Complete b0llox IMO.

I lost an Arma to a bug with the log while hunting npc's a couple weeks ago, and didn't get it back dispite a petition. I've come very close to losing ships because of this session bug. Of course it sucks to lose ships to bugs, but suggesting that CCP is just ignoring some of the most dangerous bugs in the game just because they don't feel like fixing them is just stupid. I wouldn't be surprised if this bug alone has cost them hundreds of players since release, it makes no sense for them to ignore it if it's a simple fix.
That and a session change seems to be a very common thing in EVE, lots of things may cause it and lots of things are affected by it, debugging 500,000 lines of code is one thing, fixing the bugs and making sure those fixes work correctly with those 500,000 lines of code is another.

Yes, exactly.
I have a friend who canceled 3 accounts because of this. He lost an Armageddon after he shut his guns down and waited for the timer to deplete. GMs told him that the gate prevents from jumping up to 20 minutes after last act of agression .
And if there is a bug, there is a fix. I don't know what you're trying to say with your witty questions? CCP decided to bring in new content, instead of fixing the existing one.
Look at the history of the sensor dampening bug, they fixed it pretty fast as soon as I started a big whine on the forums about it. It has been in the game for over 6 months though and they even managed to threaten players with bans for using that modules (and yeah, bug reports have been filed in, posts in patch review forum have been made, GMs have been filed too and so on).
I like the game and stuff, but on software quality issues CCP still needs to learn a lot. Or how come sentries shoot me 15m:07s after I commited the last act of agression? Bugged timer code again maybe?
"But it's hard to fix" is the excuse of the lazy people or people who have better things to do. Your choice what CCP is up to. Digging in old code can be boring, yeah, I know that. -- Stories: #1 --

How about this...
Next time someone asks for stuff back try to prove him wrong.
You'll find your logs unable to help you...
Perhaps then you can imagine how we must feel having an honest request rejected due to your lack of "investigative tools".
But I don't want to stray from the subject.
I think it's good for valar making a post here and show that he indeed cares about us

I have had it more than once when approaching a gate without using AB or MWD, on autopilot.
Got to second this... whilst i've had this bug only (I think) twice in who knows how many jumps while using autopilot as dabster says, I have had this happen. And no, I didn't have gang invites etc at the same time. But Jazz is right in that what he suggests solves the problem 99.99% of the time...

Edited by: Dirtball on 19/11/2004 17:27:30 the only time i've been pod killed (by someone other than me) since may was because of that bug, I lost 3 implants :(
The crappy part is I had bookmarks and I forgot to use them, I almost cancelled warp in time to use them too, but I didn't and a sniper BS got me.
Edit: When this happened it was completely unavoidable. I autopiloted to the gate, the dialog "Autopilot Jumping" popped up and then my ship got destroyed before I actually jumped, so I tried to jump and got the stargate jump in progress, and then I tried to warp away but teh crow got me warp scrambled. If I wouldv'e tried to warp away as the first option I may have survived just fine.
