We (BNC) have at least 12-15 guys all playing WoW beta, for all the reasons already mentioned in this thread. Mainly they're bored with game dynamics and bugs, which never seem to get fixed. Having said that I do think we'll see an influx of older Eve players coming back to the game with the release of Exodus. Lets hope CCP get this right otherwise WoW could reduce Eve-Online quite dramatically.

Every MMO has the same problems when people powergame for a year or more.
In a year (my bet is on 4 months), WoW/EQ2 will have the same feel EVE has to you guys now.

I Love Eve. As sad as this sounds, This game was my life preserver during and after my divorce(it nearly killed me! And the war wages on) And I will take the time to say thanks to all of my friends and enemys alike...even those hookers that were friends and turned enemy's. You all don't realize it but you all kept me sane and alive and made me laugh while doing it.

I think every corp is suffering as far as members go at the moment. With Guildwars, WoW, Hafelife 2, Halo2 ect ect all out now people are just moving on to new things. Shiva is about 2 weeks to late to save the eve playerbase. The "Exodus" has already started.
My game time is limited to 3 hours a day (because of my work load), so I really dont have the time to invest into a new game.

For a while now I've been saying that the problems Eve will face in the future...which starts now with HL2 out and WoW about to role out...is increasing competition for a gamer's playtime. WIth Christmas and the Q1 of 2005 now just around the corner this competition is going to increase even more with other great looking titles coming out.
There will always be the diehard Eve only players but with so many good games coming out or on the verge of release it's going to get really interesting. I also don't know what the solution would be for beloved Eve. I know my beef is the development time of this game is measured in years instead of the months it should be.

I played the beta of WoW, and imo its not worth the time, the lack of death penalty (except damaging your items that can be easily repaired) makes the game lack any excitement for killing or being killed.
Also Quests are about 90% of the games content for lvling, and that gets old after 2 weeks, its a real nice game as far as design goes but it gets old quickly.
