I played the beta of WoW, and imo its not worth the time, the lack of death penalty (except damaging your items that can be easily repaired) makes the game lack any excitement for killing or being killed. Also Quests are about 90% of the games content for lvling, and that gets old after 2 weeks, its a real nice game as far as design goes but it gets old quickly. They didnt include the actual PvP content into the beta, the honour system is being released either upon release or very shortly after, making PvP VERY worthwhile. It'll open up new quests, new items, cheaper items from vendors in certain areas if you defend your realm, along with a lot of other stuff. The death penalty is ment to be minimal because its VERY easy to die, hell a level 40 can be whooped by a couple of mid 20s easily, which is great because it doesnt mean you have to be the l33t level to be able to kill people, but it certainly gives you advantages in PvP if your a lot higher than everyone else. Questing isnt necesarrily the way to go about leveling up in WoW, you have the choice, but its defo the best way to level up. Hopefully Shiva will put some life back into EvE because, with the certain recent releases, EvE could be forgotten very soon apart from its hardcore fanbois, which would be a shame.

EVE is an awesome game, I think we all agree about that. There are not many titles out there that can completely "enslave" a person for a year and more. But the sad thing is, one day you just log in and realize that you have been doing the same old thing every damn day. Then you start thinking a bit about the direction and future and really see no promise there. Basically, EVE is completely the same as it was 1,5 years ago when it was released. Biggest change in the mean time were the conquerable stations (tech2 doesnt really cut it, its just more and prettier of the same) and even they failed to change the playstyle or tempo dramatically. There is so much ******* promise, some of the ideas thrown around on these boards and discussed by devs are mindbending, but in the end, what do we get with Shiva? New ships/equipment (if you think about it, its the same thing when they put new swords/armor in "elf" games) which will do the same thing but more efficient. Starbases hold a bit of a promise in regard to change of dynamics but its just too vague to hold on. I personally think that the biggest change for regular PVPers will be the alliance system. But is it enough? Enough to make you give up a completely new, fresh and fun experience because of it? I dont know... Anyway I didnt mean to type out this rant when I started but there you go. Just adding a different point of view.

Stan hyd	Posted - 2004.11.19 17:38:00 - [85] tbh i get bored of eve every now and then, but then a major battle happens and it drags me back in. i mean common guys we have been playing this game for oover a year now and i am still amazed with the graphics and the sheer size of the eve universe. i played linage 2 with some other people and year it was kinda interesting to be in first player mode and it was kinda cool to play with swords and stuff but hey i like going forward in time not back. Gimmie a rail gun over a bow any day of the week. yeah eve has its floors but you know what i think most games do. EVE is a much better game than any out imho the only game i think that will ever put pressure on eve is pirates of the black sea or what ever its called STIZUM FACTA NON VERBA
