Many times players have scoffed at my name, not knowing the story behind it. I would never want to change my name because it has meaning to me from my first days of online gaming.
Besides I intend to start up a PI farm and make diary products!

Because people don't even have to use alts but just grab any opportunity with their mains as per my example since they easily can get away with it as any search for their name will be a mess.
But then again it's no point arguing about it as CCP NEVER will change it.

This actually not a "change" of name and therefore something we can do. You'll have to go through the petition system though if you are serious about that.

how about max maggot
as for me i had caps lock on when i wrote so instead of having a capital V i got everything else in caps . that makes me a primary target in any fight as my name is huge and bold and easy to say .
if i had to change names , id probly name my char : the sta tion , the gayte or something like it
fc on vent :
-primary the station , second is the gate
- ...what?
-i said station primary . second is gate
would make for interesting fc orders

The 'h' is supposed to be silent, it's short for Dhaulagiri, one of the tallest mountains on earth. Everyone pronounces it "dee-haul" so I sound like somebody's hauler alt instead of a mountain

i agree... i wish changing names was an option we had. even being a paid option such as changing a picture...
i have an alt who i now think is ugly and has a very misguided name, however, i wont pay 20 bucks to change the pic, but i would quickly spend 20 bucks to change the name, and at that time, i would even pay another 20 (totaling 40 bucks) to change the pic at the same time...

This is not the place to ask CCP for a name change, the proper course of action would be to file a petition. Then in 2 weeks when they finally tell you to **** up a rope you can come back here and whine about it some.

My refusal to use a comedy name combined with a total brain freeze during character creation led to my current state. If I ever come to hate this name I have bigger problems in RL than in game though.
It does lead to some interesting stalker scenarios though.
EDIT: You know what though, suddenly I've had an idea so simple and brilliant I'm amazed I haven't seen it before...
Aliases. Much as directors and CEO's can set titles, you should be able to set an Alias for yourself. It replaces your name in space and at the top of your character sheet with your REAL name being given on the sheet as well (being unalterable) and searching (or running a locator agent) for an alias OR player name brings the same result. It also fits beautifully if you're a criminal/outlaw type; "Stuart Price, also known as 'VORTAG THE INCINERATOR' has killed a rifter again. What a douche.".

A limited paid name change was recently proposed in the assembly hall. If it gets enough support and feedback it might very well become a reality.
I don't see why it shouldn't be implimented with restrictions.

a "fif" is another derogatory term for an homosexual in french, maybe this can help you get your name changed :)
Also, some 12 years old (well at least he sounded like that) once PMed me in WoW telling me if I would like to get banned because of my name. I never understood why but i just /ignored him and never thought about it again. I now know that "*****" means something else in english... oh well...
