If you only log on from say England, and then you have logons with IP addresses from the US that is good reason to believe it was a hack. If you log on from England and have other logons from elsewhere in England is it a hack or are you on vacation, business trip, ect...? Now if all your assets get transfered to an alt on a trial or a known ISK seller then it would point towards a hack, but I'm not sure how CCP handles that exactly.

Cecilia Syal Minmatar	Posted - 2010.01.24 23:38:00 - [44] If this was a genuine case, they can eject the stuff into space and someone pick it up, this is very hard to trace, but they "can" see from the IP# log who else was on eve at the same time to pick it up.. or even trace the unique item id #, but this takes a long time cause of the tools involved are not available to even senior gm's i think? theres so much they can trace, but i think the only time they "don't" reimburse is in cases of account sharing. both people get temp (14-30 day) to perm bans and assets are not recovered.

Yeah Brock could tell them that, but what proof would he have? each machine has a unique MAC address and machine name that i believe is also logged each time you enter eve. (if its like OSI's server logs for Ultima Online) its somewhere in the logs so they will know, also the person who logged in & looted account who got a perm ban can petition and they'll review logs to see if it was indeed account sharing, since logs go so far back & they can see if it was a ongoing thing, "sometimes" they just give 14-90 day bans for this activity but either way no assets will be recovered

Let's start with what happened; I was on a business trip at the beginning of this month and when I had returned from it, I found both of my accounts banned due to compromised security. It's taken CCP about 3 or 4 weeks to do their job and unban it. I just got back from it last week and after looking through my accounts to see if anything was missing, almost everything is missing including the Capital BPO and the research tower for the IPO. Right now, I'm waiting on another petition to CCP to see if these assets are recoverable. After reading some threads on hacked account, some people had their assets returned, some didn't. So, I'm not sure how long these types of petition takes, we'll see. I'm surprised to see some people already calling me a scammer, especially Cosmoray (went from "Lets wait for a post from Brock" to "SCAM!" in less than 2 hours), Ji Sama following Cosmoray's cue as usual, etc. Barry's right in saying that my account was hacked and it took awhile for me to get it back. Its true that I should have posted something about it once it was unbanned but it was my hope that the petition would reverse some of the damage done. As for my in-game bio, it's just the result of my initial reaction; I mean how do you expect to react when you lost everything that you've worked hard for? I was actually glad that barry at least alerted me to that a mob was forming, ready to take me down as a scammer but I guess I'm too late. My plan right now is to reconnect to investors and other people that I owe some blueprints to; I will need to plan in the event that CCP doesn't return my assets. I'm in the scc lounge all night answering people questions. Closed until further notice

I highly doubt that if you where indeed hacked, you wouldn't get reimbursed. Anyways, I am glad to see you post here, instead of the emoragewhine message in your BIO.

I must say that I'm pretty shocked to come back a few hours later and find a complete character assassination going on. I can't say I like Brock a great deal on the basis of the few posts we have aimed at each other but I'm not sure he did anything to deserve this rapid reaction. Given that we can't know when the bio was updated the insta-screams of scam seem rather premature. @Brock - I'm glad to hear the rumours of your death were as premature as the scam calls.

Yeah, I was online when barry was talking to the hacker on your account who was saying that you had died. That was not the funnest evening in scc-lounge that I've ever had. Problem is that so many people read your BIO and don't see any posts from you that it looks more likely to be a SCAM than not, especially after Xabier quoted "thanks for all the fish" in his bio or Manalapan did the same for DBANK plus others. Everyone would have given you pass, all it would have taken was a post instead there was a huge circle of rumors for a few weeks.

I think the problem was that TheBarry came into SCC-lounge a few weeks ago saying that someone had come on to your account and said you had been in a car crash. No wanted to do or say anything because that is a terrible thing. Then we hear that you are back, then people read your BIO. It becomes a NOT very convincing set of events, and looks like a SCAM. Thats probably why there have been jokes that running an IPO in Eve is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world! I jumped in (sorry about jumping to fast, my bad), but if there is a major problem you need to post and not make bad jokes on the BIO, especially if your corp/alliance friends know what is going on.
