I'm doing a bit of research for my character, (again) out of interest.
I'm interested in finding out what are peoples favourite Amaar ships they use and for what purpose, be it, Fleet/Solo PvP, Fleet/Solo Ratting and Fleet/Solo PvE.
Please keep it to Amaar ships only to avoid going off topic.
Many thanks in advance for your comments and posts.

Fleet: 'Geddon
Roaming: Zealot, Curse
Solo: Pilgrim
Missions: Apoc, Abbadon
Ratting: Arbitrator, Harbinger, all of the BS (Geddon is good vs EM resisting rat types because of the drone bay).

Amarr is interesting in that it is rather lackluster overall - until you get to the larger and more specialized ships with T2 equipment. If you're willing to wait, you have access to some fantastic ships.
Harbinger: The Harbinger can almost do it all. Solo PvP, small to medium gang PvP, solo PvE, fleet PvE, ratting, exploration... It's versatile, it's effective, it's insurable. It is one of THE reasons to fly Amarr.
Abaddon: My favorite ship for solo and fleet mission running. It can tank and tank hard and still do respectable damage. If you ever lose one in a mission, You're Doing It Wrong. Also a great ship for remote repair gangs.
Apocalypse: If you need a fleet sniper, this is where to go. Some people swear by it for mission running, too: Range bonus + T2 large pulses with Scorch = Great damage with great range. I like to be more tanky than ganky for PvE though - it's a matter of taste (aka, I'm a bit lazy about missions).
Pilgrim: What can scan down targets, warp to them cloaked, then shout SURPRISE!!! while murdering the target's capacitor and tracking, rendering them helpless? The Pilgrim can. It's the closest you can get to **** in Eve. My ultimate all time favorite solo PvP boat for the Amarr, bar none. I love it far more than the Curse due to the CovOps cloak.
Zealot: It's a great sniper HAC. Some people have good success with soloing too, but for that I much prefer the Pilgrim.
Retribution: For PvP, there's better choices - but if you need a nimble, tough frigate for PvE, this is a great ship to fly. Rips through L1 and L2 missions with ease (great if, like me, you need to grind standings once in a while) and is also good for ratting in Blood/Sansha low and null sec areas. It can act as a damage dealer in a small PvP gang, but you're really better off with something else.
Arbitrator: Cheap and effective PvP boat for solo and small gang work. Fill the highs with neuts, the mids with speed, cap booster, tackle (or a TD, if someone else is tackling), and some plates. Load up some drones and you're good to go. The really expensive part of flying an Arby is filling the drone bay.

The baddon is nice in some ways, but the Armageddon is just f'ing SEXY. :) It's quite possibly my favorite ship in the game.

The whole Khanid line is pure sex. My favorite ship of course is the Anthema. The Curse is right up there though.
Other then that I love the crusader, both for its abilities and for its looks. Same with the Guardian. The arbi aint bad either in performance or looks. Also both carriers look great, wouldn't know anything about their performance though. -Jin Nib Trading on behalf of Opera Noir since: 2009.03.02 03:53:00

PVP --- Arbitrator - Cheap and very dangerous. Drone and TD bonuses make this my favorite support cruiser. Nothing renders a BC helpless quite like 2 scripted TDs. Put some nos/neuts in the high slots and you have a truly deadly machine.
Armageddon - Cheap (for a BS). If fit properly, you can get this thing to put out absurd DPS at a close range.
Abaddon - For when the Armageddon just isn't enough. Can fit a crazy tank while maintaining decent DPS.
Prophecy - Ah, the often ignored Prophecy. I pick this one over the Harby because of it's armor bonuses. And again, because I am a cheap ***. I fit it with a massive buffer tank, and use the high slots for whatever is needed at the time. Makes a great bait ship!
Ratting ------- Armageddon - For the same reasons I use it for PVP. Losing it won't break my heart, and it can lay down some hurt.
PvE --- Arbitrator - Release the drones, and pass the time by looting/salvaging. With good drone skills, I can't think of a faster way to grind lvl 1-2 missions.
Harbringer - Fastest way to deal with lvl 3s.
Abaddon - This is THE Amarr mission running ship, short of shelling out for a Paladin. Sure, some people use that Apoc for the range bonus, but this has always been the reason I fly Amarr.
In Conclusion ------------- The Abaddon is my favorite ship to fly, but the Arbitrator/Armageddon are my favorite ships to lose

* the curse/pilgrim is a sexy solo ship just like the T1 cousin the arbitrator * geddon is still the nicest gank ship around * abaddon is a good mission runner and so on.
But which ship I really like is the harbinger. Why ? It's cheap and it can do almost everything.

For PvP:
Harb - My favorite multipurpose Amarr ship. Can be shield or armor tanked. Solo or small gang, it works well in a variety of situations.
Zealot - Great for snipe hac gangs. Most damage in class.
Curse - Great for solo/small gang, only downside is that people flee when you appear on scan.
Geddon - Pretty sweet RR BS.
Apoc - Pretty sweet snipe BS. |

I currently love my Curse. But I'm sure in a week or so's time I'll hate it again. Then in another week I'll love it again. And so on. It's so very skillpoint intensive though and my 10 million SP's can barely extract the tiniest fraction of this ships potential

Well as I <3 amarr with all my combat alts specced in them I'll give my rundown of the amarr fleet.
Frigates
Crucifier: Nice ew bonus to tracking disruptors so a decent addition to a roaming gang for a low sp player vs turret ships.
Executioner: Great t2 shuttle if all you can fly is amarr.
Inquisitor: Decent basic ratter and mission runner and the best t1 frigate for hauling stuff.
Magnate: Another decent basic ratter and mission runner with a nice bonus to probes so you can scan out high sec sites and run them.
Punisher: The little tank that could. Best low sp frigate in the game and can fight outside its class when paired with other frigates.
Tormentor: It mines..
Destroyer
Coercer: Great dessy with top skills and will melt moast frigates who wander into its 20km sphere of hot laser death with prejudice.
Cruisers
Arbitrator: Best t1 gang cruiser period. Great tank along with useful ewar and can be flown to great effect by reletively low sp players.
Augoror: Top class bait ship especially if you use the navy version.
Maller: Again great bait but little else.
Omen: Lulz even with the recent changes.
Battlecruisers
Prophecy: Good level 3 mission runner and awesome bait ship if you can get someone to bite. Also makes a decent throwaway command ship with an armour link.
Harbinger: Pvp sex pure and simple regardless of what you want to do with it.
Battleships
Armageddon: Ganking god of the amarr bs line and probably the best rr bs in game especially if you can afford the navy hull.
Apocalypse: Uber fleet sniper and the easy to fit and fly choice for running amarr missions.
Abaddon: ZOMG BUFFER TANK! whilst dealing better than average dps. 'nuff said..
Cap Ships
Aeon: Lots of ehp and can reap other caps with its fighter bombers. Dunno what else to say really.
Archon: The carrier you want in your cap fleet to keep you alive.
Revelation: Best dread for doing what dreads are supposed to do: Kill pos. Gotta love no ammo so laggy pos bashes are tolerable.
Avatar: Its golden with oodles of ehp and has a death star beam that instagibs other caps. What moar do you want?
Dictors
Heretic: Meh..
Devoter: Great tank. Otherwise nearly identical to the other hics.
Interceptors
Crusader: PEW PEW PEW! UR dead!
Malediction: Roflckets? Really?
Assault Frigates
Retribution: One mid on a combat ship? lulz..
Vengence: Again, roflckets? Slot layout the reti dreams about..
Recon
Curse: Bane of anyone who is cap dependant. Gangs love em.
Pilgrim: Suprise Buttsecs! be it solo or gang.
Heavy Assault
Zealot: Top hac sniper period and ruthless killer of support ships.
Heretic: Tank 'n Gank.
Cov Ops
Anathema: Not a cheeta though it tries.
Purifier: Not a hound but its almoast as good.
Black Ops
Redeemer: lulz..
Command Ships
Absolution: Awesome.
Damnation: Moar Awesome.
Logistics
Guardian: Works well in pairs or greater.
Marauders
Paladin: Not a nightmare but it will do the job if mission whooring is your thing.
Strategic Cruisers
Legion: Legos!
Transport Ships
Prorator: Perfect blend of slots and agility.
Impel: Rich mans ore hauler for the orca/hulk combo.
Electronic Attack Ships
Sentinel: Makes other frigates cry along with the occasional cruiser.
Freighters
Providence: Absolutely beautiful ship.
Industrials
Sigil: Good budget blockade runner.
Bestower: Good budget indy with low skill reqs and decent cargo second only to the mammoth.
Jump Freighters
Ark: Looks good bypassing ur camps.
Shuttles
Amarr Shuttle: A-Wing!

I took the liberty of correcting your mistake, no fee required
Slicer for everything, does small and large gangs. Surpasses the Retribution in anti-drone/-tackle role .. capacitor of the gods. Harbinger/Armageddon if you need lag-proof stamina. Plates/Trimarks and these puppies will be drilling holes in the enemy for a long, long time. Zealot for the rapid DPS deployment, gank it out and you approach the plate BS damage in a fairly nimble hull (just don't get hit!).

Paladin is arguably the best marauder. Legion is the worst T3. Paladin outranges it and outdamages it hugely. ________________

I've tried the other HACs (we should petition CCP to rename the HAS already.. nobody says it anyway) but the Zealot comes first. range, locking speed, damage -- he has it all.. and looks golden :)
I loved the shieldtanked Harby to grind standings in lvl 3s.. until I got to the Zealot
Armageddon is still on my to do list for BS POS bash.. no ammo usage is a nice thing
I can't stand the look of the Amarr Carrier/Mom, but the armor res bonus is awesome ____________ nerf metagaming, boost fun |

Edited by: Dodgy Past on 30/01/2010 11:17:54 Harbinger is easily my favourite ship out of them all. Others have summed up exactly why already. Half my PvP kills have been in this hull.
Going against the grain somewhat I also love the malediction, solid null sec taxi with the bonus that you have a fairly large range of targets you can tackle along the way before screaming for someone to come and actually damage it
Abaddon is also a great hull, mine have done me proud in missions and wormholes, they're also solid fleet fighters.
I only recently came to appreciate the Apoc, while overall it appears quite meh when fit correctly for tracking and range you can do some scary **** to over confident HAC pilots who think they can beat a BS's tracking.
I'm looking forward to the Zealot, Curse and Pilgrim though I'm only just training towards those since the ships I have been flying have made me want to sink vast numbers of SP into support skills in order to make them shine. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- you seem determined to turn it into ******* Hollyoaks for neckbeards. |

Very informative thread :)
I have a few questions regarding Amarr ships. I am a 7 mil SP char and mainly specced in BS skills and trying to figure out whether it's worth training up for a Pally at this time or go for recons first:
How much faster can you complete, loot and salvage lvl 4's in a Paladin compared to a pulse Abby with 2-3 heatsinks and looting /salvaging with a mwd'd Harb?
Which of either Curse or Pilgrim would you prefer and in which solo pvp situations? / What are their limits?
Thanks!

I think it is down to personal preference but the Curse is more gang orientated where as the Pilgrim is an awesome solo machine, that's my views though and others may beg to differ.
I would definately train Recon 5 prior to training for the Pally, I can fly both so if you just want to mission then go for the Pally, once thats done train for the Pilgrim (While training you'll be making money missioning). But if you are asking for the Curse / Pilgrim then maybe you'll be wanting to PVP, in which case you'll forget all about the Pally :)
