What would be the best ship for hauling BPOs through 0.0? Transports or Covert Ops or something else?
Thanks

[Proteus, Moving] Inertia Stabilizers II Inertia Stabilizers II Warp Core Stabilizer I Warp Core Stabilizer I Warp Core Stabilizer I Warp Core Stabilizer I
10MN MicroWarpdrive II [empty med slot] [empty med slot]
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Medium Low Friction Nozzle Joints I
Proteus Defensive - Augmented Plating Proteus Electronics - Dissolution Sequencer Proteus Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir Proteus Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration Proteus Propulsion - Interdiction Nullifier
Or any T3 like that. Loki has the lowest sig radius.
Pros: - Immune to bubbles. - Need 4 points or 2 scrams on you. - Covert Ops cloak. - 3.8 sec align time.
Good luck catching that.

If you're hauling something extremely valuable, always get a friend/alt to scout ahead for you

I personally prefer a minmatar shuttle with high grade slaves(extra armor).

If I end up in a bubble with cov-ops or a transport, do I uncloak? What's the procedure to do then? I'm guessing it's different when I land in a bubble while coming out of warp near a gate from when going through the gate?

You find a target you can warp to preferrably in the direction where you travel through the bubble least. Align, hit mwd, deactivate mwd and cloak really freakin fast. Once out of bubble proceed on with caution.
There is more but I don't like giving out to much info on my iPhone. It causes hand cramps. |

Straight up Cov ops is dicey. If someone is in system you have to warp to a planet cloaked first then to the gate. Never gate to gate. They will place junk in the bubbles to uncloak you. MWD align warp will get you out most of the time.
Bubble on other side of gate could be smart bombing or have bombers. You get toasted. Being cloaked does not save you from a bomb.

I've found that a claw fills this role perfectly...
Highslot: Cloak
Midslots: 1mn mwd 1mn ab/1mn mwd(overload your heart out)
Lowslots: 3x OD Dmg Control
Rigs: Speed rig x2 or speed rig + inertia rig
In case of gatecamp, align > mwd > overload > warp.
Gotten out of serious gatecamps, even a 70 man friggang couldn't catch me, structure tank is wicked, also causes you to burn alot, which is cool. Only drawback is the low cargospace, which shouldn't bother a BPO hauler...

Well, if you don't mind waiting you could fly a CovOp frig and use wormholes. Its round about and could take days to find a highsec WH (I know one guy got stuck in one for 12 days with his Orca ), but it just might be a hell of alot safer sitting cloaked even if someone else is in the system scanning out a viable path and you bid your time.

Just jump it. From docking range to docking range. Carrier is pretty good for that. Just put it in corp hangar so it does not drop when someone managed to DD you. Or Black ops if you have problems with doking ranges - then you dont have to move the ship with BPO thru gates, just the covert cyno alts.

Probably sooner, like the first time he hits a halfway decent bubble camp. IE one that has ceptor pilot who aren't asleep at the keyboard. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Anything that goes through a gate has some vulnerability. T3 fit right can be next to immune however. Cov-ops are difficult to kill but can be smartbombed easily and can still be decloaked by a decent sized bubble camp. The only 100% safe way is with a ship that has a jump drive and never leaving dock range of a station.

with this fit, what are possibilities to stopping it and destroying it? if flying this fit, what should i look for? is there a way to warp scramble it? how likely? i lack the experience, hence those questions...
thanks

I didnt think that 4 stabs was any better than 2...Is it true that Warp Scram x2 stack up?
I thought with 2 warp stabs all that could stop you was a Bubble or a Dictor/Hictor
On the other Hand I would use a Dual Prop Tengu with a Microwarp and AB so if you did get Dictored you could turn on the Ab and haul ass at 900 m/s away. Also ...
You need weps to at least hold the enemy off...A Dual prop Tengu with CLoak bubble immune and 2 warp stabs can still do 300 DPS. and Have a Huge tank. If you run, You`ll only die tired :) |

Edited by: Jotobar on 23/02/2010 03:44:34 Edited by: Jotobar on 23/02/2010 03:43:35 Honestly if you're transporting something so expensive you are considering a 3bil ship and don't know how to do it perhaps you should let someone else do it? Not trying to be smart with you, just friendly advice.
and yea a normal hic + someone that decloaks you or a bit of grid lag has a chance to kill you.

Ares:
1mn Afterburner, 1mn MWD,Small shield booster or small shield extender
2x nanofiber, 2 WCS (or 1x nano, 3x wcs)
And throw in Hyperspacial velocity rigs (bonus to AU warp speed). I've never been caught in one of these, and it blitzes by bubbles really well.

if you want near-100% safety, use 2 accounts, both in cov ops, one to scout ahead and one to carry the valuables. only send the carrier through gates once you have scouted ahead with the scout and are totally sure the system is safe. if it isn't log off and log back on at another time. quite impossible to lose cargo like that if done correctly.

Blackops + Covops scout. Scout runs camps with a covert cyno, and black ops jumps when it's safe to do so, and stays cloaked otherwise.
You _might_ lose a covops or two, but your odds are still pretty good if you fit them right. But you won't lose the blackops.
