Problem: You can not align to pre-set bookmarks you've made. How many times have you been in low/null sec or even at war in empire, and have went through the trouble of setting up a safe spot (A spot in random space that can not be warped to unless in fleet with someone at said destination, or having the bookmark, or being scanned out) and if your in a real pickle, you set up 2 or 3 or more. Now when i'm in a combat situation, i like to be aligned to something at all times, so if they enemy warps in i can get out at any time, but if i get scanned out in my safe spot, i have to be aligned to a planet or station, etc. and the enemy can see where EXACTLY i'm warping to, and can send the rest of the fleet to intercept. Solution: Make an "Align To" option under the bookmark drop down tab. when you go over the planets, belts stations, and gates, you can easily align to those, and i understand that it's because it comes up in your overview, but why not be able to align to your safe spots? Ideas and comments appreciated

Maybe being aligned and able to insta-warp should not have the added advance of being so to a safepoint where you must be scanned with probes to be found instead of a quick on-board scanner. That's my opinion anyway.

I don't think the people who make this game play it... I mean I can align to anything else in space but not my own damn bookmark?! I understand they screwed up when they added aligning feature in the expansion but to not include this fixed in one of the first patches after release?

Don't be mislead, they play it definatly, just something they've over-looked, and unlike any other MMO i've ever seen they've actually taken the time to get an entire seperate staff (CSM) to ACTUALLY regulate ideas exactly like this one, and honestly review them, and with enough support and CSM reviews they will implement it i'm sure, if they feel it's a good idea. It's all about the faith mate ;)

Isn't that what the "Warp within 100km" is more or less about? Granted it doesn't take you out of range of sight, but if your 100km off, not much they can do and basically works on the same principle.

I'm talking a safe spot lined up with an orbiting body, yet hundreds of thousands of (not hundreds of) kilometers out. ================================= Miner, builder, runner, ratter, Richer, poorer, Capsuleer, thief. ================================= |

Make the system map orientation correspond to normal-space like it used to before CCP started breaking stuff and aligning to bookmarks becomes a cinch while requiring actual player sentience.

Try staying fully aligned and in range of that Ark 'roid in your Hulk... knowing the moment you slip up a stealth bomber will eat your lunch.

A circle of alignable BMs would keep my Exhumers from doing the march - about-face(scary time) - march aligns they currently do to celestials in most deposits.
This is an example of why I don't think this should be implemented. With the current game mechanics a ratter/miner can be safe. We don't need bookmarks on the overview or ability to align to bookmarks to make it even safer.

I'm mixed on this. If one sets their prefs correctly, BMs show up in the celestial maps. Taking a moment to bring up your map, align, then drop the map usually won't put you in major danger.... if you are mining or ratting that is. In warfare situations that moment can be the live/die factor since you are blind in a visual sense. Still, well-configured overviews reveal dangers far quicker than eyeballing space can.
I'll support this for two reasons. The first... I'm basically lazy. Being able to configure my BMs into the overview would be a definite time-saver. Secondly, I feel this should be debated by the CSM and CCP. So..

SUPPORTED! This is something my mates and I have talked about for some time, and is actually one of the "Little Things First" I'm running under for my campaign! There's a few other good "little" ideas out there for bookmarks that create a synergy and make daily EVE gameplay far more efficient!
If you value giving priority to little fixes like this, vote for Cinori Aluben. My priority is that CCP make these "Little Things" a priority. As such small items wouldn't require heavy coding time, devoting dev time to them is solely a matter of prioritization, which the CSM will have an active part in now.

Well honestly it's no different in the sense of security than say align to a celestial and having a BM in between, but just makes it more convienent to be able to warp to SS

I guess it makes sense to save a few clicks, but isn't it already possible to align to BMs? At least, I feel pretty well aligned when I do it.
I can't bring myself to detail it, both because it's real hard, and because I don't want responsibility for targets being pre-aligned to safes. It involves very advanced ctrl-space and other manual throttling techniques.

haha... highly advanced even :) just do a passive align (select warp to and wait for almost 75% speed and then stop the ship) and manually set your speed to >75%. that will most likely end up in optimal direction and you will be able to almost instawarp to your BM. Not very convenient but it works!

Supported,
I always wondered why you could warp to a bookmark but not align to it. I mean right now we can initiate warp to a bookmark and then stop our ship/ turn on engine again before it warps, thus being aligned, so why not just let us align? |

he'll warp to a planet at 70 or a bm just the same so it doesn't really affect that, he can align to a moon, warp in at range and then safe up so doesn't really make that big of a difference PLUS i'd like to point out if you have someone scanned out, you could align to that place and wait for a tackle and instawarp in =)
