Has anyone tried planetary interaction at planets in WH space?

Confirming it look like crap.
tbh , where is the art department... all they did is put some dot and straight lines between them. Probably didnt take that much time since every 10 years old can do that on photoshop... Was expecting alot more since the planet remap.

Well first off, it is just the backbone for their proposed concept design, it'll take a while to finalise it, and they did say in the blog that its got changes to be made.
and no, the planets sexy effects won't change, you can only see these icons on the planets when you're in planet mode (right click the planet to do this) and you cannot see anyone elses buildings, as of yet...

Ehhh. What happened to all the sexy ideas that were put about at fanfest?
Im guessing this is some kind of early beta this minimal style input. I was expecting districts to look more like countries and borders than a few dots on the map.
It's a long way of yet at least... The bottom line is that I have found these annoying signatures are actually quite funny. |

As predicted in the Dev Blog, putting this out in the Alpha stage is going to draw out a host of people complaining about how unfinished it looks.
The basis of the underlying mechanics have just been put in place. None of the eye candy, the intermediate or advanced features, nor any kind of polishing have been put in place as of yet.
Get a grip.

ok so:
1) what happens if 2 people try to use 1 planet? 2) is there any apparent limit on how many planets one player can control? 3) i notice once of those systems in the ss is a 0.5, so this is high sec sovereign space also?

wow you guys are idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLACE HOLDER GRAPHICS, THEY SAID IT 50 TIMES, THIS IS JUST TO TEST THE PRELIMINARY CONCEPT
Hell theirs no borders, theirs no impact, theirs no cost, their no graphics, theirs only a few minerals and products, theirs planetary bikes with no usage yet, as you can see ITS NOT EVEN BEGUN YET.
I still think they need to set a max range of the links, or else you will have people with extractors and links circling the entire planet.
how do you impact neighbors if you cant see them and if 10000000 people can be on a planet yet all of them can rule the entire planet... something seems wrong here

Its two 1920X1024s in dualscreen setup. I myself have 2X 1600x1200 because I prefer more space in the vertical

I've got 3 24" monitors but still haven't found a way to force that resolution yet. At least not in Windows 7....

I see no virtual trailer parks on these planets. How am I to produce more Exotic Dancers without them.

Providing you have ATI EyeFinity (and as a result atleast 1 DisplayPort screen or active converter), nVidia Surround (coming with the new 400 series, SLI only) or a Matrox Tripplehead2Go, you should be able to create a single "virtual" panel with all 3 panels either in Landscape or in Portrait mode.

Damn.... I've got two nVidia GTX cards (not in SLI). I wish nvidia made something like eyefinity. I tried getting softth to work but it doesn't like EVE + win7
Ahh well, back to planets!!
Are we going to see districts, countries, regions, etc? What about our neighbors? Will we see our neighbors?

Off topic: You are quite stupid
On topic: Looks great, I look forward to future devlopement! I'm also looking forward to training exotic dancers and launching them into space.
Speaking of launching things into space, can the planetary launch cans be scanned down and picked up by anyone, or is the person who launched them the only one that can get at them?

You guys need to take this all with a grain of salt.. stuff that is missing right now, that you are complaining about (eve-ish graphics, product lines, population, etc) are not there because all they've done so far is build the underlying framework. Now that they have the PINs, Links, and Routes working, it's less of a matter to add varried types of said PINs, and add modifiers to those PINs (such as population effects, and such). Also, it's obvious the graphics dept hasn't really even touched what's on SiSi currently, as they are even stealing already made icons from other ingame graphics for now. Personally, I'm pretty impressed they let this level of work out the door, which implies they really are trying to keep the player bas in the loop on this one. There's a thread in the Test Server Feedback forum on this that has had quite a bit of DEV interaction already. Intel/Nomad |

I realize it's a very early framework. I'm just a little worried that based on the DevBlogs, it sounds like the implementation is going to be a lot different from what they described at FanFest. In the DevBlogs, they haven't mentioned anything other than extracting resources, processing resources, and shooting them into space. That's what's got me worried, not the state of PI currently on Singularity.
There have been some things that were talked about at FanFest for other expansions that never came out, so I'm just slightly worried that all the in-depth stuff like population management will be dropped because it was found to be over-ambitious.
I'm sure it'll be improved vastly by the time it launches--I just hope that a major part of it isn't dropped by then.

Well technically nVidia Surround is their answer to EYEfinity (and it supports 3D display too), but because the new 400 series GTX cards will still only have 2 graphics ports each you'll need 2 cards in SLI to get the 3 ports needed for a triple screen layout.
Not that EYEfinity doesn't have it's problems, each 5000 series card has 4 video outputs, but you can only use 3 at a time, and 1 of those 3 needs to be the DisplayPort because the cards only have 2 clock-pulse generators each (which sync the screen with the card, DP doesn't need this).
The new EYEfinity6 model 5000 cards coming later this year will have 6 video outputs each, and support a maximum of 6 screens, but they only have DisplayPorts, no DVI, no HDMI.

Either the people doing planetary interaction didn't watch that presentation or they decided to drop it at the last minute because they thought it was too ambitious. I'm hoping that I'm wrong and that at least some of that will be in, but considering there are about two months left until launch and currently it's pretty much moon mining with a different look and lower barrier to entry, I'm not optimistic about the SimCity/Civilization-feeling strategic mini-game that was described at FanFest actually coming out in Tyrannis.
If it has been dropped from Tyrannis release, I hope it's at least going to be added later. If it's just connecting dots to other dots and getting some items out of it, it's going to be a very lackluster expansion. It's hard to be the tyrant or ruler implied in the name "Tyrannis" when you only have dots and lines to work with.
I love having two expansions a year, but if they're getting big and ambitious enough to where there's not enough time to implement what is planned, I'd rather them come out yearly, but complete and fully realized. Or maybe a smallish polish-and-bugfix expansion then a major one that adds a whole new type of gameplay per year. |
