For a second there I wondered why someone pasted the Xbox buttons all over that planet.
Cool story bro.
Edit: They totally stole my planetary interaction idea I had over in F&I

I'm curious, Saturious, how did you get that set up? I have a command center and I'm not quite sure how to set it up on the planet...?

Well after you set the command center up, you right-click > build > extractor and choose one, and repeat the same for the processor. Then right click one of your buildings, click 'create link' and click what you want it to link to...
so i've gone from a flaming hot planet to a lush blue one, and I can't get water on either, 0% yield, it appears to be a bug.

Well, my question was how to actually GET the command center up - I'm not sure how to do that and your post only explains what to do AFTER it is up.
Also, I think the colors depend on what minerals you're scanning for. Click on the mineral filters on left side and it changes colors on each mineral.

To build a command center you right-click on the planet, select planet view mode or whatever its called, then right-click again and select build, then command center. You must also have a command center already in your cargo hold and in space. You do not have to be in orbit of the planet you want to build on however.
Mineral scanning is not in game at the moment, so buttons and whatnot are all placeholders currently. ---

I can see it being quite scabby, game wise.
You could easily sink a lot of isk and time into by setting up extractors, getting them twinned with factories and doing all that.
These are VERY early days, hope they have shiny gfx soon :D

At Fanfest, they said there would be population management. They said you'd be able to make your region of the planet a utopia with happy workers or a polluted hellhole with a brutally oppressed workforce. I hope this isn't something that's cut out halfway through development and then never revisited. If it's really as simple as just building extractors and connecting them to processors, it'll get boring pretty quickly, I think.
As it is right now, it's basically moon-mining and reactions with a different appearance. That's fine as a basic system, but I want to have to manage my population and work-force, build housing, keep them happy or brutally kept in line and make them productive and stuff like that. I want to be able to train various people "livestock" like marines and then trade them to other colonies so they can use them to keep their people in line or train janitors to keep things clean so people are happier.
This is a very early implementation, so I'm sure it'll be significantly more complex upon release. I'm just slightly worried that population management wasn't mentioned in the dev blog. If population and workforce management isn't part of PI, I'm going to be pretty disappointed.

Yes i know they mentioned it on fanfest that if why i am so disappointed ... it would be so cool that people on habitable planets could produce / train marines , security personel , cow stock work force and civilians and sell them to people on magma planets where they would be like slaves working for industrty etc you would have to manage polution and moral and rebelions that would be soooooooo cool , that is what they hinted on fanfest as well ( well not moral and rebelion but that would be cool to add , your security and military would need to fight rebels on planets and keep production high etc , so you would need to check planet expecially if you are on lucrative plasma planets etc ) ... but at the moment it looks like it is just like moon mining :/ , conect few lines get products produce advanced stuff when you buy other minerals etc...
I hope some dev comes and give us some hope and thoughts and tell me that i am wrong in my fears :) ... i think they should know that mass of people would like something like what i mentioned above ... and i dont really think it would be so hard to develop such system , and this is perfect oportunity -.-
sry bad english.

this is an alpha, what do you expect?
I like it it for the start, to get a feeling for the new system. The other features like "population management" and trade aggreements will see SiSi a week before release or so. These two are the more complex and interesting features which will take some time go function

this will be wicked, i really really really REALLY hope that it has depth to in and of itself be a game that we can waste ours working on to get the most out of it....
i also hope they have graphics coming for the modules and it wont just be the lil planet icons, even small holographic views of the buildings or something,
WAIT
WAIT
OUTPUT : NANITE REPAIR PASTE? ONE OF TH EPRODUCTS IS NANITE REPAIR PASTE, finally! But ya back to the fact they need to really work on making this a complex thing that we can spend time on :) I wouldnt mind orbiting a nullsec planet and working for an hour or 2 on my industrial plans on the planet to get 110% out of it... But for that its got to have depth and complexity to the buildings and upgrades, and it has got to look good while im doing it :D

yeah, once you set up the 'link' between the three buildings, you get the choice to upgrade the extractor for something like 50k isk, it isn't alot. im not sure if that goes up at all for any reason at a later date...
btw, has anyone managed to find water? Is it definitely bugged to have 0% yield wherever?

I don't think it's a bug. Water, Carbon, and Silicon are all "0" yield, even though they have cycle times and durations which implies they had a value, but it's being arbitrarily set to 0 in this build. ---

There will be a Civ 5.x mod that will be a plug-in/interaction with Eve. Like how Dust 514 is. It'll be interesting how they handle the integration from turn-based to real-time.
