So I just bought a falcon to use in conjunction with a high DPS paper thin boat and also an arazu alt for tackle.
[Falcon, Fail To Jam] Signal Distortion Amplifier II Signal Distortion Amplifier II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
BZ-5 Neutralizing Spatial Destabilizer ECM BZ-5 Neutralizing Spatial Destabilizer ECM Enfeebling Phase Inversion ECM I 'Hypnos' Ion Field ECM I 'Umbra' I White Noise ECM Sensor Booster II 10MN MicroWarpdrive II
150mm Light AutoCannon II, EMP S 150mm Light AutoCannon II, EMP S 150mm Light AutoCannon II, EMP S Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Medium Targeting System Subcontroller I Medium Particle Dispersion Augmentor I
Currently using that fit with lvl4 skills and I tried to jam one of my other characters domi and it constantly kept missing cycles, the 20 second cycle time is damn painful as well.
How come when I get fkin jammed by a falcon I get perma jammed? Am I not using enough jammers? lose the sebo? Do I need UBER LVL5 skills or what? lol
Cheers for your help :)

Use two res damps with that Arazu alt and your target *will* be permajammed. It'll take him so long to lock, you'll get another cycle off and jam him again before he can lock anything again.

Never thought of that, I am mainly focusing my small gang of characters around WH stuff
So gonna drop Arazu for tackle, falcon for jam then bring in max DPS brutix or deimos, So I can not afford to miss a cycle and get targetted.
Do you activate all ur ECM at once or one a few seconds after the other?

I do mine one at a time. If the first one hits, no point in throwing another onto the same target. And if I have fewer targets than ECM Modules, I just wait till the jam cycle is barely complete and then hit the next module.

Some tips concerning usage of the falcon
Make sure Recon skill is at 5 (bonus that it gives is too large to ignore)
On how to use jammers: Activate one after the other (racialspecific first, then the other, till you see your target is jammed, make sure to turn off the failed jammers so they don't run an excess cycle)
Beware drones, friggin' things are dangerous for you. -------------- Cleaning up wrecks others leave behind! Got to keep space clean! |

That is a pretty awful falcon fit. Doesn't really have an effect on your ability to jam, but seriously, a plated falcon? Why the rig and sensor booster? Sensor booster is no longer needed with the ECM changes, and you aren't exactly getting fast tackles in your Falcon. What's the deal?
Also, make sure to use racial jammer first. If it fails, try the rest, one at a time. Don't be afraid to use heat, it can and will save you. Lastly, you can always try changing out that second bz-5 for a multispec (preferably faction, officer if you are rich).

Falcon Club Rules:
1. You are primarily there to jam things. This means 3 SDA's and preferably Recon 5. 2. Never plate a Falcon. Ever. 3. Never ft multispecs. Ever.
1 x Covops Cloak II 3 x SOME GUNS OR WHATEVER, who cares, you're a support boat, if you're using weapons something has gone wrong and you're too close.
1 x 10mn MWD I 4 x Racial Jammers (1 of each) II (t2 are WAY cheaper) 1 x ECCM II 1 x LSE II
3 x SDA II
2 x Whatever rigs - the ones that reduce sensor recalibration are preferable (don't have EFT available atm), or lock speed, or CDFE's, or whatever.
Everyone WILL hate you forever and the toon in the Falcon will become infamous as such if you stay in the same area for long. Eventually, the locals will begin to either ignore you completely OR make cunning plans to deprive you of your Falcon. As such, you really want to get the best out of it while you can. You really, really want around 14 jam strength on each jammer.
Or you could use a Blackbird. Putting the 'irate' into 'Pirate' |

Id disagree with the first point. The falcon is easily fitted with recon 4 and as hes new to recons im guessing theres still plenty other skills he would benefit more from. Still recon 5 is one you want to get done at some point.
Also always keep in mind that youre as high up on anyones primary list as it gets - even with the reduced range on jammers youre still able to outrange most ships in your weightclass - that and the cloak makes it possible to position you away from the fight. This is also why i wouldnt use a plate on the ship but atleast one shieldextender.
Good luck ;)

Come on guys, at least put some effort into your trolling. 3 SDAs and sensor recalibration rigs? Are you serious? ECCM instead of a 5th jammer?
Highs: Covops Cloak Remote Armour Rep Remote Hull Rep Salvager
Mids: 10mn mwd II 4x Racial Jammers (t2 is way cheaper, and you shouldn't need to worry about cap anyways) 1x extra racial -or- preferably a faction/officer multispec (multispec is way better than a 2nd racial, as it gives you better chances when you miss initial jams with your racial, and does so for every single race) I would only use a second racial if I knew I was flying against some RP bull**** where they only fly a single race of ships. 1x LSE II
Lows: 1x DC II 2x SDA II
Rigs: Particle Dispersion Projector Particle Dispersion Augmentor
You can change the projector for another augmentor, but it does give you another ~6km of optimal.
The general rule of thumb is to never take advice from anyone who uses the term "toon".

DC is pointless. I fit an LSE as abuffer to let me know when I'm being shot and should warp out (and so I don't get seriously crippled by that first volley or two). If you get pinned and attacked, you're dead, regardless of whatever 'tank' you have fitted.
Not having an ECCM is inviting yourself to get jammed by either another ECM boat or a flight of ECM drones, which would be ironic, no? No point being an ECM boat if you yourself are jammed.
3 SDA's are there to MAXIMISE your chance of jamming the target. It's a probability game so you want to give yourself the best chance possible. This means 3 SDA's.
Sensor recal rigs are there to minimise the delay between decloaking and being able to jam your targets.
I shall say it again:
THE FALCON'S ONLY PURPOSE IS TO LOCK ENEMY SHIPS DOWN WITH ECM. You should therefore fit it to absolutely maximise its chances of doing so. Anything else is a complete waste of time. If you're going to fly such an expensive and fragile ship, you should take the time to train Recon 5, otherwise you may as well fly a Blackbird. Putting the 'irate' into 'Pirate' |

Ok That cleared a lot up.
I got the fit from battleclinic. Was never sure about the plate and also.....ECCM? I dont see why as I am basicaly ganking solo ratters and WH'ers. I dont expect a fight back.
Should I go with 6 jammers then? and 3 signal amps and 2 of thse calibaration ***gy things?

3x 200mm II rails wiht spike, cloak 4 - one of each racials, 10mn mwd, LSE II, multipec (not to be used *unless* tackled, last much needed jam fails) 3x SDA 2x lock time rigs

I've never fit an ECCM to my Falcon - I'd rather have another jammer. Or a sensor booster if I'm really worried about counter-jamming.
For generic gang, you're there to jam, but with recon 5 you have room for a probe launcher, which is sort of handy. I therefore tend to be flying something like: [Falcon, Fleet] 'Hypnos' Signal Distortion Amplifier I 'Hypnos' Signal Distortion Amplifier I Damage Control II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Large Shield Extender II 'Umbra' I White Noise ECM BZ-5 Neutralizing Spatial Destabilizer ECM BZ-5 Neutralizing Spatial Destabilizer ECM 'Hypnos' Ion Field ECM I Enfeebling Phase Inversion ECM I
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II Expanded Probe Launcher I, Core Scanner Probe I Cynosural Field Generator I /OFFLINE Salvager II
Medium Particle Dispersion Projector I Medium Particle Dispersion Projector I
Hornet EC-300 x2
I don't like plates, because the Falcon is slow anyway. An LSE isn't a _lot_ of buffer, but ... it's some. Hopefully enough to jam something and warp off, at least.
Although, I'd also like to point out, that if you get bored of fleeting in it, the Falcon is probably the best blaster ship about right now - unlike all the others, it has a fighting chance of being able to disengage from a fight at point blank range. It's a bit of a niche fit - most gangs you're better off focusing on your support role.
Just just for the sake of amusement: [Falcon, Blasters] Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Damage Control II
Stasis Webifier II Large Shield Extender II Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I 10MN MicroWarpdrive II ECM - Multispectral Jammer II ECM - Multispectral Jammer II ECM - Multispectral Jammer II
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M
Medium Particle Dispersion Augmentor I Medium Core Defence Field Extender I
Warrior II x2
Quite cunningly violating most of the advice already given regarding fitting a Falcon :)

Do not put LSEs on Falcons. ECM, MWD and maybe ECCM or Sensor booster are the only midslots you should consider.
Plate it if you want the HP, you shouldn't uncloak until you are aligned out anyways. *** Currently Playing: Trolls from Outer Space Current Equipment: VISAcard chain mail, +2 Amulet of Epic Whine, Self Banstick +2 WTB: +666 E-peen killboard stats |

1600 plate is correct for Falcon. LSEs are for Rooks.
General Falcon fit:
Highs: Covert Cloak Cyno, neut, guns, whatever
Mids: 6x racial ECM 1x MWD
Lows: 1600 plate 2x SDA
Rigs: Your choice of the 2 ECM rigs
---
General Rook fit:
Highs: Your favorite 5 missile launchers
Mids: 1xLSE 1xShield Hardener (Invul or EM) 3 or 4 ECM, often multispec Optional warp disruptor 1xMWD
Lows: BCU 2xSDA
Rigs: 1 or 2 shield rigs optional 1 missile damage rig If you don't have top power grid skills you will probably need a power grid rig
The two fits are completely different cause you should be flying them completely different. Don't fly a falcon like a rook, or fly a rook like its a falcon.

Definitely plate it, as your 3rd SDA is stacking penalized and an extra jammer isn't. The fact the plate gives you roughly 1/2 HP more than the large shield extender is more reason to plate it.

Edited by: fivetide humidyear on 17/03/2010 13:31:14 i prefer mids of mwd, LSE and jammers, i usually fit ECCM to be anti ECM if i know the opposition has falcon support
but i always carry a ECCM , and 2 extra of all jammers in case i need to refit quickly for a specific target. nice to be able to quickly fit to 3 racially specific jammers for that caldari roleplaying corp, carrier that you bait off a station etc.

I really don't understand the hate for the 1600 plate fit Falcon setup for ranged jamming. Using a 1600 plate allows additional ECM mods in the mids. 1600 plate does not get penalties from ECM rigs like shields do. Mobility penalty from using the 1600 plate is negligible since you should be aligned out already before you decloak.
