No it's just WoW being popular and therefore well known to people using PC on a regular basis. So don't worry :)

Is it any good?
I mean, the back-cover blurb looks kind of 'meh':
Quote: The capsuleers are the immortal pilots that string together the vast Interglactic empire that makes up the universe of EVE. Remote from the mortal population they have come from they are cold and distant. They are needed but hated.
Drem has reason to hate them - a capsuleer attack on the pirate space colony he worked in killed his family. Ralea hates them too. But her hatred is for herself as well. She worked as an agent for capsuleers acquiring missions for capsuleer agents and taking a cut from the profits. Missions that lead to countless people dying.
Drem seeks revenge, Ralea, redemption. The key to their futures lies with the sisters of Eve, a philanthropic rescue organisation who span the known worlds. But how do you revenge yourself against an immortal? Where can you find redemption if you have killed thousands? Drem and Ralea will find that their quests are intertwined and that they will lead to an unexpected place.
EVE: THE BURNING LIFE is a fast moving space opera: a tale of revenge and redemption that spans the Universe.
Hasn't the "you killed my family and now I must have revenge" plot been done to death in fiction?

I finished my signed copy yesterday and like it a lot. If you like the chronicles from Abraxas you will like the book too. While TonyG's book is more about the grand scheme and big politics this book, as most of the chronicles, is much more about normal people that don't have access to unlimited funds and don't kill thousands whenever they feel like it.

Yeah it is pretty meh.
I picked up the Kindle version a couple of weeks ago and I am only about 3/4's through it in that time which is very unusual for me as I normally get through a 300-400 page book in about 2 working days. Generally found the book very disjointed and pretty dull.

Where's the fun then?
Killing thousands cheapens the experience. While there can be a rush it is momentary and fades as quickly as it came.
Killing a single person, now there you can take the time to savor the experience. It's like sipping a well aged glass of fine wine. The intimate tactile contact when you stick the knife into the soft flesh, the whimper followed by the moan. Seeing the tears as they well up and then overflow. The intricate dance they make with the beads of sweat that are clinging to the skin as the tears stream down the face.
Killing thousands provides cheap meaningless thrills, killing them one at a time provides a lifetime of cherished memory's. I would write more but I am late for my physiologist appointment.

I plan on getting it, I for one, thought T.G's book had s*x every half page. Yet, I loved The Mercenaries so I'm hoping it will be as good. We should be able to order signed versions. And not just copy a pasted into every book either.
I'd do it, even if I had to wait for longer shipping.
I was still disappointed when I read it would only be about 100k words.
And all this reminds me, I need to read that new chronicle . Welcome to EVE. |

Not to mention gives me an unpleasant sensation. I do hope that's an active imagination and not experience expressing itself. :p

Actually, you might like a couple of stories of mine. Go ahead and read them. Just ... y'know. Keep your hands where I can see them. At all times.

Tony's book was amazingly good space opera. Given the genre in which he was writing, he absolutely knocked it out of the park. My book is very different. If you liked the Mercenaries, or even better, Black Mountain, chances are you'll like The Burning Life.
And "only" 100k words? Dude...

I just finished reading the book and I liked it. Sure it isn't near the complexity of anything written by Peter F. Hamilton, however it is still an enjoyable read.

Did it come out earlier in the UK and/or Europe again?
It's not coming out until March 30 here.
At least it's not like half a year later like the first novel was.

Abraxas either you are very smart and know alot about the pleroma and the Gnostic Basilides. or more likely (in my opinion) you read muse of fire by dan simmons and thought being called the god of opposites sounds cool. --------------------

not suggesting you're in any way bias but I am both shocked and stunned that you liked it ;)
saying that, I've never read any of the eve books, not much or a reader in general (it's the graphics), where's a good place to start with the eve books? --

good news now content team can focus on more diversity in pve missions and plexes Signature - CCP what this game needs is more variance in PVE aspects and a little bit less PVP focus, more content more varied level 1-4 missions more than just 10 per faction high sec low sec and 00 |
