Right away I'd like to state that I don't personally hate goons, in fact they are good for lulz and killmails, it's that I just either have nothing to do at times with my alts talking to their "recruiters" (while bored, having a beer and a laugh at it). FAQ or How To Prevent Goons From Owning Your Wallet (and possibly tips on how to own them instead): Q. How do I identify if I am approached by a legitimate Goonswarm Recruitment Officer from the Recruitment Channel? A: Look at the alliance name. If it has the word "goon" in it, it's a scam. Q: I am asked to enter my full API key on http://goonfleet.net. What do I do? A: Generally, copy the name of the "recruiter" into a reply to this thread and tell them to go outside. If you want to have a laugh though and troll them, and hopefully see more "recruitment officers", create an API key and select your noob/Jita alt in the "Characters" dialog box (make sure that alt has less than 10M in ISK on balance). Check everything except mail and transaction/wallet journal history. This will seriously screw up their system and give you a good laugh in the chat room. Q: I am asked to pay a security deposit. Is this legit? A: Yep, as long as the deposit requested is no more than 0 ISK. Q: Will CCP/FBI/CIA/MI-6/MOSSAD/FSB/KGB protect me from the Goon Scam? A: No. Last but not least: If any of the above has happened to you, please do o post the name(s) of the "recruiters" in this thread. The goal of this thread is to create a list of every single Goonswarm member and their alts in one single epic thread! A sure way to be rejected from membership. Of course, GoonSwarm got to be the size it is by scamming every potential recruit it can, after all, and not recruiting anyone. Some goons do scam, and if you're dumb enough to fall for it, well, sorry. Sucks to be that dumb. Everyone else, we do recruit. We don't recruit idiots (TEST and widot aside). If you get rejected, do what everyone else does and go cry about it on the forums. Surely you were rejected not for your awful post history on the boards or for having joined and left 300 corps in the last month for some reason, it's because the meany goons are all scammers. This is a funny topic coming from you, of all people, Alice. I guess you're counting on the fact that no one knows just how prolific you are at scamming on your main. I won't ruin your action though. If one of them turns out to be a spy or decides to turn coats along the way, even if it's in two years, it is considered your fault and you are also kicked from the corporation (or fined billions, depending on the severity of the crime). Thus, security deposits are standard and recruiters are very careful that they don't allow idiots into the corp.

You keep saying what you are saying, for the rest of us, just google "Goonswarm Scam" and you'll get the picture of the globality of this known scam. I'm sure you Goons are making more than enough ISK from honest folk you scam to keep failed recruiters from being kicked (pay the awox fines etc etc). FYI the persons listed in the first post all stated that they are an official recruiter or a sub-CEO (being only a few days old lol). Some of them even have that in their BIOs. And last but not least, the most active recruitment corp is GoonWaffe! So many convos from so many recruiters at the same time that don't even recoginze each other's toon names. Note to self: might as well start posting logs of these gem chats for everyone to lulz at, but not on the official forums ofc.

Given the reputation they have, anybody dumb enough to get scammed by them....should probably put their PC back in it's original packaging and send it back to the company they got it from. They clearly have methods of recruiting new players (as evidenced by their ever increasing numbers) and any Goon wannabe with half a brain could do some googling and figure out how to apply correctly.
