Interesting thread.
Goes to show that history repeats itself over and over again, and its a shame that money has to be involved each time.
For all the people who have lost isk to siig (especially all you ex-adurians), i am trully sorry for you. All you can really do now is accept what happened and move on. You could always try to harass Siigari of course, but siig has been playing this game long enough to know ways to evade you so you will just waste your time trying. Consider this a lesson learnt on who you can trust with your isk and who you cant :(
Also, to all the siig haters, commenting from his pvp skills to his isk spending habits, you probably couldnt kill him on an honoured 1vs1 fight and you certainly wouldnt fly the ships he flies in the places he flies them.
Anyways, i think that Siig makes this game more interesting and fun with all his antics and the drama they bring (from the observers point of view), and im pretty sure there is more to come in the (near) future

Defcon:
It's easy to be ballsy with someone else's isk. Easy come, easy go.
There have been plenty of people who have flown expensive ships and risked a lot. The reason most of eve doesn't hurl 800m frigs or 12b isk faction battleships at people because it's not practical and they don't have an ego to feed.

Or perhaps one of the few mates he hasn't yet ripped off.
I think it's worrying that Siigari deserves props for using GTC to afford exorbitant internet spaceships to the detriment of his real life financial situation. I won't judge him on it and it's his choice; however, such a thing should not be applauded. ~_~

If all of this does turn out to be a large and lengthy scam, how is it rating up against some of the other ones in Eve's history, if you could put a price on friends?

First off lady spank, you dont know of his financial situation. You just speculate like the other morons on these forums about what he has and doesnt have.
I also think that you are mistaken by saying that im "one of the few mates he hasn't yet ripped off". I've known him a long enough time to know how he plays, and ive lent him isk before which he repayed back on time and vice versa.

I wasn't speculating - unless you're trying to tell me that Siig was outright lying in corp chat+vent and trying to scam corp mates in person for IRL cash. All things considered, I've tried pretty hard to defend Siig in this thread and gently chide him into paying back debts that were made in good faith by both parties. I realize that he's probably mortally offended by my "backstab" - and I'll get over that. Hopefully, so will he. Either way - I gave my final analysis of the situation above.

We can all defend or blame siig on a large number of issues..
Regardless, the fact of the matter is all this drama and rambling on about who he is, what he has etc will not change things... its pointless. People get scammed and manipulated in Eve all the time and so people should focus not on what you lose but how you deal with it.
Also that IRL scam comment sounds a bit farfetched. You have proof for that or just more stories? lol

He actually paid RL money? Sigh... Thats something i would never do in a game.
The problem is people are too trusting, you must spend time with people before investing/lending/trading money with anyone when it goes to this lengths.
Torus doesnt know siigari long enough, thats the problem, and i see this must be one of the reasons this thread was started in the first place correct?

Edited by: Twg Memitim on 22/04/2010 22:49:14 We all viewed siig as a friend, we had fun flying with him, and we had a good time on vent with him. The problem is he started to abuse that friendship by borrowing isk and not paying it back, or by refering to those of us flying with him as meat shields for his expensive ships, and finally by getting torus to pay for his servers and not paying him back. When we confronted him about it we had no intention to leave the corp, we just wanted our stuff back and for him to stand down as CEO, we still wanted to fly with him, just not under him. This apparently was us 'backstabbing' him, he then accused us all of running from our problems before he logged off without further discussion (hypocracy much?). We then dropped roles and started our own corp.
Defcon you are looking at it from a 'don't give money to strangers' kinda way... and we see it as us loaning resources, be it isk/IRL$/time, to a friend and having our trust betrayed. We are all ****ed off because we were betrayed not by random internet guy but someone we all were friends with, some of us had even met him IRL and hung out with him.
His behavior is unacceptable, and I believe this thread was started to serve as a warning to everyone about siig.
EDIT: I'm a bad speller :-\ ----- Remember it's just a game, have fun! |

You know, I never had anything against Torus, or anybody else for that matter. It's the fact that you have now ramped it up and made it into a giant eyesore that causes me to be hesitant about any of this. I am certain if these people who I owe money to care enough about getting their money back, rather than posting a huge friggin' thread about it they could have contacted me through private means to establish it. Damien is getting paid back, but only because he hasn't made a huge-ass ****storm about it.
Torus, however, has put me in a rough spot. I'd love to pay him back, but I cannot get him to undo this, and quite frankly neither can I. Have I not paid people back recently? Yes. Do I want to? Yes. Is what I did wrong? I think so. Has this been handled well by the lenders? Not by some of them.
Huggies keeps going on and on about how he ganked my Cruor. Torus, did you get the 350 mil that I gave him to buy back my modules? I'm sure that as you posted "but as long as the faction loot gets cashed in and returned to our wallets somehow, I'll be happy." that you meant stuff like that. If you did indeed get that money from Huggies, I'll send you the rest.

Which is fine - if Siig wants to come tell us all that he scammed the **** out of us, I'll tell him congrats on a fantastic haul. 500+ bil ... freaking wow.
Quote: Also that IRL scam comment sounds a bit farfetched. You have proof for that or just more stories? lol
I think you're putting more stock into that comment than I meant for you to. My assertion is that I know for sure he couldn't afford a $5 cover charge (which he was going to borrow from me - though he did pull it off) - so he damn sure couldn't afford thousands of dollars/month in GTCs. Hell - Siig said this stuff in corp chat, on vent, and on the Eve forums - so it's not really speculation at that point now is it?

So which part was wrong? Spending other people's money without regard to the promises you made, not paying them back after months of patience, or the day to day lies about your non-existent fortune and your activities? Or maybe it was the part where you called victim when people became angry at your behavior?

While I don't know what all loans were like, the ones I know of were made pre-Dominion and promised to be repaid by January. And at least with those folks, I know both they, and I on their behalf have been on your case about it since then. I doubt it was much different elsewhere, so let's not rewrite history so you can feel better.

Didn't he say in his little campaign video for AT commentator he works at best buy? tbh, I find it pretty hard to believe someone can buy tens (100s?) of billions worth of gtcs making 8 bucks an hour at best buy. Even if he's a manager, I doubt they make much more than 15ish/hr.
I don't know the guy, and had never heard of him before seeing the video on kugut's site, just sayin' it seems a bit far fetched.
