AFK cloaking has always been a big annoyance. AFK cloaking in dominion is really out of hand with the costs it takes to upgrade a system, not to mention the free info everyone can see when clicking on the Sovereignty link. "Level 4 Industry? Lets insta pop a hulk or two with a bomber then afk cloak 23/7 for the next couple days."
The costs to the sov owner are vast while the costs to the afk cloaker are extremely minimal and near risk free.
I believe there should be a special probe that can find cloakers. This probe must be dropped on the same grid the cloaker is on. This will take time, because you first must scan the entire system and find the ship that is actually cloaked, which could be almost any ship in game, then pinpoint it to the grid it is on, then once on that grid, drop the special probe, then let it scan/hunt the cloaker.
Now, obviously any cloaker that is AFK for long periods of time is going going to die. This is what this was ment for. Those who are active will easily see he is being hunted and can warp off, causing the prober to have to rescan the entire system looking for him.
Now there are two ideas i have for this special probe.
1. It can give an exact warp in after say, 60 seconds (lowered with skills) of scanning. This gives the cloaked pilot a very long time to warp out before he is found and cause the prober to have to completely start over with normal probes placed around the whole system.
2. A sort of missile/probe hybrid. The probe can move at a set amount of speed, say 300m/s (increased by skills?) towards the cloaked ships. Or it can move very, very fast (like a defender missile), yet zig zag around so the prober can't just mwd in the same aligned path as the missile/probe hybrid thing.
I'm pretty much going to say anyone who disagrees with this is one of those long time AFK cloakers, because this system gives any active hunter vast amounts of time to move around and not be found, which means any active hunter would have absolutely zero problems with this, since they wouldn't be effected at all.

Normal probes or new ones?

Bad idea, I do not support it.
If you want to be safe in 0.0 get friends and stop macro ratting in Ravens

You already have a dedicated cloaker hunter, it's called team work.

AFK cloaking is not a problem if you are sensible about it, stop looking for an ideal solution to make your life 100% risk free and start dealing with it.
If a guy wants to spend a whole days worth of his game sitting cloaked in a system doing nothing, having lots of 'fun', oh wai....he's more than welcome
That said, I am sort of up for the idea of being able to find the grid at which somebody is cloaked, but no further. This would make no difference to proper covops but would be a small nerf to other things such as being able to cloak a titan with the same module as is needed to cloak a BS, but then that's a completely diferent issue as you're worried about people that aren't even at keyboard right?

Yea - it isnt problem if he is sitting there and he's "alive" player, but sitting with alt and doing something else somwhere on main... ROTFL ;p
It would be great to have some special probes - deep space probes for instance cos they will be crap after new path - to be able to probe afk'rs. If they want some fun - please give them that! ;p The other case is that most of ppl who are using bots will be crying when such a probes appear! :D

Remove local from 0.0 and put timers on cloaks.
Isn't the fiction behind local information run by concord? Why would concord support pirate intel? Possibly make local information a part of sovereignty upgrades. Does not solve issue for NPC 0.0 locals, however. Barrier of entry to 0.0 is in process of being nerfed, according to CCP.
So removing local in 0.0, and timers on cloaks probably not going to happen.
AFK cloakers are kinda lame though, to be honest. On that note though Area Denial tactics have been used since the concept of war was invented. |

You can actively do smt about that...not solo though.
If you want to handle an afk cloaker, you can have a 100 man fleet there still isn't smt you can do about it. Thus AFK cloaking is a risk free 0.0 experience.

Funny how people defend their 100% safety and complain about others people safety.
As if a POS was ever removed or station conquered only because of people residing there, even if you conquer a station, you're 100% safe in there until you undock. In a POS or Station docked you ARE practically 100% safe.
