I understand your point ... from a biz view of things though you need to understand devs as well ... EVE was ready for release (sorta), cause all the basics were in. And I mean basics. Waiting another 6 months could have prolly eaten up all their funds ... and we would have ended up with CCP broken and no one ever playing EVE. That goes for many other games, not only online games, as well. Although logical bugs in single player games are much more of a pain then missing content that just has to be added over the time. ____________________________________

I've played this game for almost one month now, and I've played insanly much 6-8h per day. I've played and played and played and played and played and played and nothing is happening.
Mate it sounds to me like you need to get out more and actually have a real life :) Games are meant to supplement ones life not become it!! I am not suprised your bored. What game can you play everyday for 8 hours and not be bored with it after a month. Man if I was having sex everyday with Britney Spears I would want a change after a month ROFL.. Be you a Pirate or a Simple Alt creeper! Sooner or later you'll dance with Soul Reaver and His Amazing Underpants

I think Jash raises a good point, but I'd like to add this - as well as making the 'mini jump drive', with a max range and a cool down time, give it a minimum range as well - this would mean you could only use it to travel distances of say, no less than 8 jumps, but no more than 20. Cap drain should be horrendous, as should the cost. How about that?

I find the idea sound but what about new players like me that think the travel times are a bit over the top, I cant buy a horrendously expensive jumpdrive...

Yhea, that's what I'm doing now, I'm going to get out more. I'm also going on a four week vacation to spain that will be 100% EVE free. It'll be a nice break aswell.
I don't want jump drives I think they might ruin the game you meet very few people as it is already.
What I'm asking for is less travel time. I want basic traderoutes that are only one or two systems. I want slots available everywhere so that I don't have to travel the entire region to buy stuff. I want the playerbase to be more compacted to fewer systems. So we can get some player interaction. The only interaction right now is meeting m0o at a gate. I want people to trade with eachother, not just get org BPs and sit in their part of space.
CCP have forced people to spread out as much as possible, and I think that's very damaging for the game. Right now all I seem to ever do is watch my ship in warp and it's mind mumingly boring. Even in 0.0 space I can warp to a gate, no pirates here, warp to the next gate, nothing here, warp to an asteroid field. Someone already killed the pirates there.
Please stop forcing people to spread out. Endorse player interaction. I would like to see 100-150 people in one system. I would like to be able to play one session in just 2-3 systems, doing missions, manufacturing, talking to new people a.s.o.

I love travelling, I think its a key point of the game, otherwise it becomes just another "quick fix" online game like Quake.
Travel is another element, something you have to think about all the time, if you are trading or doing missions, or even if you are buying ammo for your killing sprees, you always have to weigh up the travel time and the cost.
Yeah sure, travel drives me nuts too, nothing is more annoying than that damn 32-jump "Save the Premier" mission my Level 2 Agent keeps dumping on me, more often than not I forget it and go to another Agent.
Removing travel is removing an important dimension to the game, an element that makes it a persistant MMOG where you can nurture and havest your character. This is what separates the genre from the Quake Servers.
Unnecessary travel does exist, hopefully we will see Interbus soon which will put paid to a lot of that.

Excellent idea that Shaggy recounted there, with the jump highways.
I second (or third) that.
The entrances to such a highway would probably act as magnets of activity, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them as sites of constant conflict between Shaggy's ilk, and the more law-abiding of the universe.
We need those really attractive locations within Empire space. Places that most players have a real reason to visit, places that generate a greater sense of landscape in the vastness of the void that is space.

For the record- if you don't like travelling, don't travel. Trading is not the kind of profession for people who get bored with warping easily. Try doing something.....e.r......fun
